QUESTION 6 A consulting firm employs a substantial number of professionals with advanced degrees. The work is structured so that these employees typically work in fairly small groups of four to six with a project manager. At present, performance appraisals are done by the manager at the completion of a project [usually between six to fourteen months]. The results are used primarily to determine merit salary increases. Recently it has been suggested that the professionals also provide peer appraisals to go along with a manager's appraisal. a) Explain how you would react to this recommendation. (5 marks) b) Illustrate what additional information, could the professionals provide, other than those already available from the manager. (10 marks) Explain the disadvantages of peer appraisal. (10 marks)
