BRIGHT HORIZONS DIVERSITY AUDIT Executive Summary

Bright Horizons is a child care center for children from the ages of infancy to 6 year olds. It has lots of children from different ethnic backgrounds where they meet to learn and get educated from each other. Their education is dependent on the teachers who strive to enrich their lives the best that they can. It is Bright Horizons goal to employ a diverse staff to show the acceptance of all different cultures and religions. They want to embrace all backgrounds and show appreciation of it. I chose this organization because diversity and education are its two main characteristics. The school has to be diverse in its enrollment process as well as its staffing process. In order for me to conduct a diversity audit, I will first need to know as much as I can about the organization. Once I get the details on the organization, I will need to conduct interviews of people from the management to the staff to get an idea of what they feel about diversity. Once the interviews are done, I will conduct the diversity audit based on a few criteria to reach my conclusion. Bright Horizons Family Solutions, LLC Bright Horizons is one of the leading child care services in the United States which provides many opportunities for children, parents, employers and employees. I have chosen this organization because it plays a valuable role in the growing economy of todays generation. It supports parents, corporations, and children in what it does and I want to figure out what it needs work on and how it can be improved regarding the training and development process. Business Goals One of the main goals of Bright Horizons is to help children in developing the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in their life and well as achieve academic excellence. children and the corporation. They want to make sure they have a work environment that is encourages the growth of the children as well as its employees. Bright Horizons wants to create a workplace that implements professionalism as well as cultural diversity while striving to build a financially strong organization. Audit Method According to the Bright Horizons website, The Bright Horizons community is a vibrant tapestry of children, families, and employees who represent myriad cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. We strive to create a culture that values individuals, welcoming them into our family while celebrating their unique differences. (Brighthorizons.com, 2013) Based on the organization details, it is clear that diversity and family culture is the most important to Bright Horizons. The primary research that will be conducted will be based on the interviews of employees and management from the organization to get an idea of how they feel about diversity related to their work environment. Some of the questions I will ask during the interviews are: 1. How often to issues regarding diversity arise? Does management handle the problem? 2. Are employees and management aware of diversity issues and benefits? Has there been anything done to promote diversity? 3. Has there been any type of training provided by management to promote diversity? 4. What are your recommendations to improve diversity in the workplace? 5. What are main challenges you think Bright Horizons will face regarding diversity in the next few years to come? 6. On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being extremely diverse and 1 being not diverse at all, how diverse do you think the Bright Horizons work environment is? 7. Are there any programs or trainings to encourage minority development?

10. Are there minorities in management positions? If so, what about prior years and how are they tracked? The secondary form of research that will be conducted will be based on the information from the company website. This includes the company background information as well as their standpoint on diversity. This also includes any information such as charts or data that are found on the website to assist in the conclusion. The diversity audit will be conducted based on many different criteria. They will be used to help me figure out where the organization stands. The criteria I will be using are recruitment, promotion, retention, professional advancement of minorities, diversity education, and compliance with federal guidelines. In the next few paragraphs I will begin to analyze the results of the questionnaire and the recommendation of the diversity audit criteria.
