104 E. Kirkwood Avenue Apt. 106

Bloomington, IN 47404

Scott,

I am applying for the Front Desk Receptionist position at your office located in downtown
Bloomington. I learned about the opening as advertised on the Craigslist website. This position is
an excellent fit with my employment and educational background. With my organizational,
administrative, and creative abilities I feel I would be a valuable asset to the company. I am eager
for the opportunity to contribute my hard work and enthusiasm to your company.

Thanks to funding I received through a competitive scholarship from Indiana University, I

had the pleasure and incredible opportunity of traveling to New York City this past summer for an
internship with MTV Networks, specifically the Production Management department of VH1.
During this internship I was able to gain hands-on experience with the production side of the
entertainment industry. The opportunity also allowed me to strengthen my communication and
managerial skills.

Through my major in Telecommunications I have obtained greater knowledge in media

management, production, and design. I also had the rare opportunity to collaborate with one of the
department faculty to design and conduct media research that looked at movie preferences among
young adults. I created storylines and Web sites, distributed surveys, and interpreted data to form
various conclusions. This project gave me the chance to develop my leadership, research, and
writing skills and my self-motivation.

Throughout my undergraduate program I have also worked as the front desk receptionist at
Century 21 Rasmussen. My dedication and attention to detail are several reasons why I have
maintained this part-time job. The job has given me experience with Microsoft Office and a wide
range of other administrative tasks. With the above experiences I feel I would be an exceptional
candidate for this job opening. I would be very interested in discussing this opportunity with you
further. Please feel free to contact me at 317-372-4847 or e-mail at moorejb@indiana.edu.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
