In a three week selective volunteer program, I had the privilege to be Junior Ambassador and help run the volunteer sector of the hospital. This job consisted of many tasks which included organizing and filing paperwork, running errands between different sectors of the hospital, and making sure that junior volunteers were on the task at hand and at the correct time.

Oct 10 Dec 10 Apple Orthodontics Volunteer Coppell Apple Orthodontics Coppell Grade 11 3 Hours/Week Total Hours: 40 As a volunteer at Apple Orthodontics, I filed, organized, ran paperwork, noted measurements of teeth, and helped take X-rays for Dr. Juan. Each Wednesday and Friday, I was able to observe various practitioners in the orthodontist office and the various treatments administered, from cleaning processes to extraction to placing or removing braces.

As a dancer, I learned the basics of an Indian classical dance known as kathak and often performed at competitions that allowed me to portray the skills I learnt as a kathak dancer.

Aug 08 - May 12 National Art Honor Society; AP Show Coordinator Grades 9,10,11,12 3 Hrs/Week Total Hours: 75 As a member of NAHS, I attend different events around the community that involve the arts (i.e. paint murals for theatrical shows, help design for playgrounds like Kid Kountry). As treasurer, I help fundraise money for field trips to the art museums and for art supplies. Lastly, I help conduct the AP Art Show every year.

Aug 09 - May 12 ECoppell; Cofounder, Historian Grades 10,11,12 4 Hrs/Week Total Hours: 3000 As Cofounder and Historian of this organization, I encourage the community to use reusable cloth bags rather than plastic bags through several events and activities (i.e. giving free cloth bags to customers, painting the parking lots of grocery stores with reminders, conducting rallies at the Town Square, etc).

Academic Decathlon; Member (10), Co-Captain Social (11), Math Co-Coach (12) Grades 10,11,12 6 Hrs/Week Total Hours: 4500 As a member in 10th grade, I was part of the support team and trained with and helped teach the competitive team. As Co-Captain Social in 11th grade, I helped the team bond by hosting social events such as ACDEC Survivor Night (a night filled with fun and learning till morning) and the annual ACDEC Banquet (ACDEC awards ceremony); I was also part of the competitive team that year. Due to schedule conflicts my senior year, I could not be part of the competitive team. Instead, I stay after school as Math Co-Coach to train the competitive team after school on calculus basics.

Also, I help organize the annual Heritage Night, an evening filled with performances and shows that involve aspects of different heritages and cultures.

From the extracurricular activities to the AP courses to the social events, we help these kids plan their personalized successful path to take in high school.

As a member of SNHS, I try to hone my Spanish speaking skills by tutoring those in need of extra coaching in the language, attending monthly charlas, and learning of the many Spanish customs and traditions.

Sep 10 - May 11 Teen Leadership Coppell Grade 11 2 Hrs/Week Total Hours: 24 In this one year selective program, I traveled the community learning the basics to becoming a leader and making a difference in people's lives. Some of the events I participated in include health expos, leadership retreats, City Hall policy making, and a final service project for the disabled.

May 11 May 12 University of Texas Arlington; Research Assistant Grades 12 4 Hrs/Week Total Hours: 100 As a research assistant at UTA, I experiment with stem cells and animals under the guidance of Nobel Prize professors and PhD graduates. Here, my daily tasks included counting worms, deciphering the gender of the worms, tabulating results, drawing cells, and counting cells on agar plates and disks.

As a member of Baylors FCC, I, along with ten other members in my group, plan all social events for the freshman class. Ranging from formals to Christmas parties to Spring flings, Baylor FCC has given me the opportunity to expand my social horizons.

As a member, I volunteer in a number of events such as the Hillcrest Hospital cleaning or Stepping Out as a way of not only being a part of service, but also to obtain a feel for the medical world.

Jan 13 - Present Hillcrest ShadowingDr. Haribabu and Dr. Lakshmi Vijaya 4 Hrs/Week Total Hours: 60 I shadow Dr. Haribabu, a gynecologist, and Dr. Lakshmi Vijaya, a pediatrician, twice a week to observe these two fields in medicine. Occasionally I view surgeries and other times I do paperwork and patient analysis.

Jan 13 - Present Sociology InternshipDr. Kathryn Meuller 2 Hrs/Week Total Hours: 10 Under Dr. Meullers instructions and while preparing for the class, I mentor sociology students twice a week, teaching them about sociology, the socialization process, and other class materials. Other times, I work in Dr. Meullers office as her class assistant and engage in methods by which to augment sociological success for both her class and the outside Baylor community.

May 11 Congressional Leadership Award Grade 11 A certificate given by Congress for participation and activity in Teen Leadership Coppell.

Sep 11 President's Volunteer Service Award Grade 11 This award was given in honor of the 250 hours or more of volunteer service I have provided to the community and city.

Dec 11 Young Masters National Art Award Grade 12 This award was given to six students per state for an artwork he/she created. As one of the awarded, I have the honor of viewing my artwork, created using photography I took on a recent trip to India, at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Museum of Art and later in Washington D.C.

Skills/Academic Achievement
Feb 09 Beal Bank Science Fair Regional Level Honorable Mention This award was given for my Science Fair Experiment called Kidney Kontrol; this experiment researched the effects of different drinks on the outputs (i.e. glucose, pH, etc) filtered by the kidney.

May 09 Chinese Math 1st Place Winner I was awarded this prize for obtaining the highest mathematics score in the annual Chinese Math Competition.

Jan 10 Beal Bank Science Fair District 2nd Place This award was given for my Science Fair Experiment called Biodiesel, BioFuel, Biogasoline?; this experiment researched the combinations of ethanol and gasoline for efficient heat transfer.

AP Scholar This award was given to all students for achievement on AP Scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.

Oct 10 Junior World Affairs Council Honorary Delegate For my knowledge and debates on current events, I was awarded the Junior World Affairs Council Honorary Delegate Award in a Regional Debate.

Nov 10 Health Occupation Students of America Bowl Regional Level 5th Place For my creative problem solving skills in coming up with a solution to a given health problem, I was awarded 5th place out of 15 students.

Jun 11 AP Scholar with Distinction This award was given to all students score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Sep 11 National Merit Commended Student This award was given in honor of my high PSAT/NMSQT score (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Semifinalist Qualifying Test) which was in the 98 th percentile of the nation.

Jan 13 Baylor University Deans Scholars This award was given in honor of my 3.7+ GPA during my first semester as a freshman at Baylor University.

In the regional level, I was awarded the Youth Art Month district medal all three years of high school for six different paintings, despite not taking art my sophomore year.

Jan 10 - Present IndiaNite Dance Performer and Choreographer Grades 10,11,12 3 Hrs/Week Total Hours: 150 For every Republic Day of India, I have performed Indian Classical Dance (kathak) at the annual IndiaNite every January and also choreographed two of the dances that are performed at the same event.
