How to Use this Personal Guide 7 days

This booklet is designed to help you to grow in your walk with Christ this week. My prayer and desire is that every one of you will have a healthy and exciting daily devotional life style. You might ask: When is the best time for my devotions? In the morning or in the evening? My opinion is that the best time is when youre at your best! If you are a morning person, do your devotions in the morning. If you are an evening person, do your devotions at night. The bottom line is: Jesus deserves your best, so give Him the best part of your day! Every athlete knows the power of daily exercise and the importance of working out every day. Every musician also knows the importance of a daily practice. My daughter Gabriella spends a lot of time practicing her piano scales. I dont know much about music or about piano, but I have enough knowledge to know that unless you know your scales and putting them to practice constantly (even though this can be very boring in the beginning), it is a must for you to know it well if you are going to be a good piano player because it will give you the Mlexibility and agility in your Mingers, also knowing your scales well will enable you to play different types of music parts. Our time with God on a constant basis will also enable us to hear His voice and bring maturity to our walk with Him. Thats what I believe is missing in many believers. We all want wisdom and desire to grow, but unless we take our time with God very seriously, we will never fully be what God has desired for us. This week I would like to challenge you to take this daily devotional and that you would spend time with God following four very simple steps that I believe will be of a great blessing to you and make a difference in your life this week. We will use the acronym R.O.A.P. (Read, Observation, Application, Prayer) to help us. R - Read the scripture portion twice. Read with an open heart and Jesus will give you words of encouragement, direction and correction. Find a verse or verses that particularly spoke with you and then write it down. O - Observation is simply note what you saw on that particular verse (s) it answers the question: What do I see in this verse (s)? A - Application is how you are going to apply that truth in your life today. Write down how you will be different today because of what you have read. P - Pray about what the Holy Spirit is revealing to you. Spend some time asking His grace and power for you to live the truth of His word in your life. During this week, I would like you to take the scriptures from the devotional guide and do your devotional observing the steps I gave you. In the next page there will be a sample of how we can use this simple method to learn and grow this week. I will start with the scripture for today (Acts 20) and show you how you can do it. HAVE FUN!

Date: Sunday Jan 20,2013 Scripture Reading: Acts 20

On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.

O A P

The fact that they met on the first day of the week and the urgency Paul had to minister to them before he left.

What a great word! This verse reminds me that I also must have a sense of urgency in ministering Gods word because I dont know how long I will be around.

Father, Give this sense of urgency to word today!
