Prayer of the Week

Birthday Wishes
Laney Stanistreet 25th July Shakira Gregge 26th July Caitlin Cadogan 26th July Meeah Bailey 12th August God of all Creation, our life today is your gift to us. Through devotion unto you, you invite us to be of service to others. Be with us this day as we try to bring your presence through us to the world. Give us the courage and generosity to respond to your call. Give us hearts that love and seek your love; give us eyes that see the goodness in everyone. In the good things that come our way today, God, we give your praise. In the things that are not so good, please deepen our faith so that we may realize that you are forever within us. We pray especially for those in need, the homeless, the starving, the sick, the dying, the disabled, the abused and their abusers, the victims of aggression, and those mourning the loss of a loved one. Have mercy and heal them. Let them awaken from ignorance and wrong thinking to the beauty of Your Word. Open all our minds and hearts so that we may build your kingdom here and now in what we think, say and do today and forever. Amen

Gospel Values for Term Three:

Reverence and Self Control

Quote of the Week

I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else. C S Lewis

This week we received our first delivery of Milk in Schools. The students mobbed the delivery man, but Im sure they were just trying to help with the unloading. Some students have opted not to take advantage of the programme which is entirely theirs and their parents choice. If you have not received a permission form you can ask at the office on Mr Kemps

return to school.

Junior semis are on 13th August August. and seniors are Supporters all the following day, 14th welcome to come along and cheer these players into the finals. Absences If your child is going to be absent due to illness, or late because of a medical or equally as appointment something

cant get out of bed because of cramps, you think you need to pass wind but are too scared to without the security of the white throne and then you know there will be projectiles out of your mouth any time soon. The second option is how it turned out for the Kemp family, in particular Mr Kemp. Please take some time to pray for the safe return of our Kemp whanau. Pray that it was only the ice he had in his drink on his last evening in Bangkok that has shared a horrible germ with him.

Principals Commentary:
Welcome back to term 3. As per normal it is going to be another busy one. Children are settled into classroom routines and even doing their homework which is a bonus. I thought my tenure as acting-acting principal had come to an end as of today. I was saddened by this fact but relieved in equal quantities too. I can now get back to focussing on our Ka Toi performance over the next two weeks, which I have to say, needs a lot of practise and fine tuning. However all that changed last night. I had the pleasure of Mrs Kemps (Mr Kemps wife) sister for company and the cell phone was running hot. It became apparent very quickly that the phone was not the only thing running. Imagine this, confined in the surrounds of the Boeing 767, 120 000 feet in the air and you get that horrible feeling in your stomach that you have ingested something you shouldnt have. Or imagine you need to be at the Bangkok airport in an hour and you physically

As mentioned, we are fine tuning our performance for the KA Toi Festival on August 16th. We are at that messy stage where I do lots of grumping, push the children through their comfort zones, and growl like a growly bear. Senior students understand why this pressure is needed and that I am not really a growly bear (just super competitive). Juniors may not understand this, so please let me know if your little one is feeling worried so I can reassure them (in-case I havent done that well enough already). I look forward to seeing you all at the festival and expect the noise level from you all to lift the roof off the Theatre Royal.

So what does this mean? Well...... I will turn up on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday if needed and we will continue on until Mr Kemp graces us, in good Colleen Suddaby Acting Acting Principal health, with his presence.

important, simply let us know why and for how long. Thats all you need to do. Book Club Scholastic book orders are due back at school by 23rd August.

Congratulation to the above students who have made representative netball teams. From left Laney Stanistreet Year 7, Morgan Oudemans Year 6, Caitlin Cadogan Year 7 and Keevah Donaldson Year 6. We wish the girls all the best for their tournament on Sunday in Temuka

Kids Can Cook

During the last week of term 2 the students had the chance to go to Main School where they were treated with a cooking demonstration from the mobile Kids Can Cook Kitchen. Volunteers were called for to become instructor Chris Fortunes Sous Chef. Hannah Berry, who would like to make a career as a chef later in life was selected for this honour. Together they made apple and spinach crepes. All the students had a go at tasting the creation, and surprisingly no child or adult opted out. Some students gave the thumbs up and other were not too sure but all enjoyed the experience. Below are some photos from our cooking event.

Thank you to all those parents who promptly returned their forms to the school office during the week. We will have more information regarding the travel arrangements and dinner options once Mr Kemp returns to school and has a chance to consider all our options. Practices are going well and students are really getting stuck into their performances and art projects. I can see this is going to be another great year for St Patricks and its great to see the parents showing support and interest in attending.

The Beatitudes Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the meek; for they shall possess the land. Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice; for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart; for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. May the Year of Faith be a time for all Catholics to renew their desire and zeal for the Eucharist and to avail themselves regularly of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Penance. During this Year of Faith, may all Catholics publically proclaim their love for Christ and his Church. May this Year of Faith remind us of ways to serve those in our midst who are overlooked, ignored or rejected, so that all may experience the peace and healing of Christs love. May the Holy Spirit guide the Church during the Year of Faith so that all Catholics may experience a deepened renewal of faith, hope and love. May young people be inspired by this Year of Faith to listen attentively and respond to Gods call to priesthood and religious life.
