Air-air exchangers
Natural convection helps to reduce the temperature inside the enclosure, whereby installing (without lter) outlet grilles or raising the enclosure tops may be a suitable solution. Fans with a Himel lter have been designed to evacuate a large amount of heat economically.
They have an aluminium exchange battery that separates the two air circuits (inside and outside) and stops dust from getting inside.
This solution is only feasible in cases where the When to use them power that has to be dissipated is weak, and in atmospheres with low dust levels.
When you need to evacuate greater dissipated power, and when the outside environment is polluted.
In highly polluted atmospheres or when large amounts of heat must be evacuated without bringing the outside and inside atmospheres into contact.

Cooling
Heating
They cool the enclosure by means of a water-cooled exchange battery. The regulation of the temperature in the enclosure is performed by means of a thermostat that closes or opens an electro-valve. They are cooling unit devices that guarantee effective and independent cooling from the outside environment, and avoid the appearance of heat sources. Resistance heaters avoid problems of condensation inside the enclosure and guarantee maintenance of the ideal temperature for the correct operation of the electronic components.
c When a large amount of heat has to be evacuated and a water cooling installation stable in temperature and ow is available.
c Our cooling units can be used in the severest atmospheres, where the temperature can reach up to 55 C. c Our cooling units feature the temperature adjustment Resistance heaters are used to heat the electrical switchboard when the ambient temperature is too low, or to prevent the formation of condensation water.

VENTILATION SYSTEMS
Selection guide
Forced ventilation The movement of air inside the enclosure with the aid of a fan makes it possible to: 1 Increase thermal dissipation through the enclosure walls and, as a result, reduce the inside temperature. 2 Avoid hot spots in the enclosure (even temperature) harmful to some components.
Natural ventilation The provision of fresh air from the outside by means of ventilation grills improves the dissipation of heat by natural convection. However, this solution is feasible in cases where the power to be dissipated is weak and in atmospheres with low dust levels. There are 4 ways of ventilating, with a common principle: entry of cold air through the bottom of the enclosure by means of an accessory and the exit of hot air through the top of the enclosure by means of an accessory: 1 By elevating the ceiling of the enclosures (only in Spacial 6000 models) and adding a lterless bottom air inlet (solution 1). 2 By means of a ceiling ventilation device, adding a lterless air inlet at the bottom (solution 1).
Solution 1 Solution 2
3 By means of inlet and outlet grills (lterless) (solution 2). 4 By means of ventilation lugs (Solution for insulating enclosures).

2 The exchangers come with an adjustable thermostat that controls the inside temperature of the enclosure: c It avoids the installation of an auxiliary control thermostat. c It guarantees the correct reading of the inside temperature of the enclosure.
Temperature adjustment range: +20 to +50 C.
3 It has an electricallyoperated valve in the water inlet which, controlled by the thermostat, adjusts temperature and avoids possible condensation. It has an anti-leak detection system that cuts off the water supply if it detects a loss in the circuit.
4 The IP54 watertightness is guaranteed. The recirculation fan of the enclosure inside air is on permanently, which maintains an even temperature inside the enclosure and thus avoids the appearance of hot spots.
5 Comfortable and easy to assemble and disassemble. Fast access to the inside makes for easy cleaning and maintenance of the unit. Because it is water cooled, there is no outside air circuit, and no lters are needed, thus reducing periodical maintenance.

The inside and outside air circuits are perfectly separated and maintain IP54 watertightness of the enclosure. Two fans guarantee air circulation in each one of the circuits: c Internal circuit fan. It is on permanently, which maintains an even temperature inside the enclosure, avoids the appearance of hot spots and guarantees a correct reading of the inside temperature of the enclosure by the set-point thermostat. c External circuit fan. The inside thermostat controls the fan and starts it up when the temperature of the air inside the enclosure is above the maximum value displayed.
Easy access to the condenser allows simplied cleaning through blowing. Disassemble of the cooling units is not necessary for the high temperature compressor and external fan maintenances.
The air conditioning units come with an adjustable thermostat that controls the inside temperature of the enclosure: c It avoids the installation of an auxiliary control thermostat. c It guarantees the correct reading of the inside temperature of the enclosure. Temperature adjustment range: +20 C to +50 C (supplied factory-adjusted to 35 C).
ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly
c The top mounting models feature a condensation water automatic evaporation system with an exclusive safety system that switches off the apparatus or issues an alarm if the condensation water level is exceeded. c They also feature an exclusive voluntary unloading system that makes it possible to empty the water from the condensation tray. c Available in two versions: top and side mounting versions. c The power of mechanically regulated cooling units ranges from 240 to 3100 W. There is always equipment which is suited to your needs. c Comfortable and easy to assemble and disassemble. c The side installation models can be semirecessed with the use of the specific accessory. c Available in two versions: top- and side-mounting. c Power from 1100 W to 1800 W allowing you to install the equipment that best suits your needs in each case.
Comfortable and easy to assemble and disassemble. The side-mounted air conditioners feature an exclusive quickinstallation system: c Two retractable handles facilitate the installation of the air conditioner by a single operator. c They have an exclusive quick-fixing system without screws that facilitates mounting
on the enclosure and guarantees the IP54 degree of protection. c The electrical connection is carried out with removable connectors supplied with the cooling unit. One single machining size. The machining sizes are the same for all sidemounted cooling units.
c Fast access to the inside makes unit cleaning and maintenance easy. c Its design renders lters unnecessary in most cases. It is possible to install a lter in the exterior circuit for particularly polluted atmospheres.
c The design of the aluminium slats of the condenser makes maintenance easier and less frequent.
ENVIRONMENTALLY friendly
The inside and outside air circuits are perfectly separated and maintain the enclosures IP54 watertightness. Two fans guarantee air circulation in each of the circuits: c Recirculation fan for air inside the enclosure. The internal circuit fan is always on, thereby maintaining a uniform temperature inside the enclosure and preventing hot spots. c Fan to circulate the air outside the enclosure. The inside thermostat controls the fan and starts it up when the temperature of the air inside the enclosure is above the required temperature. All models, side-and top-mounting, have an automatic evaporation system for the condensation water. Use of R134 ecological gas.
Electronic regulation provides: c Precise control of the operating temperature: Start-up of the compressor at +1 C above the preset temperature. Switching off of the compressor at -5 C below the preset temperature. c Door contact management. c Manual alarm reset. c Manual rearming of the alarms. c Control of the idle and operation times of the compressor. Temperature adjustment range from +20 to +50 C.

The Himel heating resistors for electrical or electronic enclosures are equipped with PTCtype heating elements (Positive Temperature Coefcient). The use of these semi-conductors as heating elements means that: c The aluminium surface temperature of the diffuser stabilises at +75 C (for an ambient temperature of 5 C). c Electrical energy consumption is reduced.
The design of the prole of the Himel heating resistors produces a chimney effect. Thus, a uniform temperature is achieved inside the enclosure. The resistors are secured by means of fast-xing clips on the 35 mm DIN rails.
The 10 and 20 W resistors are equipped with a 2 0.75 300 mm electrical connection cable.
Their broad range of powers, from 10 to 400 W, means that any solution is possible. Models from 250 and 400 W with a built-in fan.

HEAT CALCULATION
Due to the miniaturisation of the components, the generalisation of electronics, and the appearance of new electronically-based power products, temperature control has become an increasingly important necessity that must be taken into account when designing electrical and/or electronic control panels, as is being done with the IP degree of protection. Reliability and the search for minimal breakdown rates are two determining factors in process industries where hourly operation costs for the installations are extremely high; the smallest breakdown can immediately result in losses totalling hundreds of thousands of pesetas. The service life of the components depends on the temperature and humidity conditions in the enclosure. The solutions to these problems are varied, and can depend on environmental conditions, the type of components in the electrical control panel and, of course, their cost! In certain cases, it is enough to oversize the enclosure or to use fans. In other cases, where ambient temperatures are higher, heat exchangers or cooling units must be used. Himel offers a wide range of solutions adapted to all situations.
To air
Natural dissipation (through the enclosure walls). In some cases, using a larger enclosure can solve the heating problem. Natural ventilation Providing fresh exterior air through ventilation outlet grilles improves heat dissipation through natural convection. Nevertheless, this solution can only be used in low-dust environments when the power to be dissipated is low.

HEAT CALCULATION
To ventilate
Ventilation Using a fan to circulate air within the enclosure can even out the temperature and prevent hot spots which could be harmful to certain components. Forced ventilation HIMEL fans are designed to remove large quantities of heat generated by electrical control panel components. This signicantly increases component longevity, thus ensuring the durability and correct operation of the installation. The fans, which are easy to install and maintain, as well as economical, are an effective solution to the problem of rising temperatures in electrical control panels. Due to their IP degree of protection, they can be used both in industrial environments and in the tertiary sector.
To cool
Air/air exchangers HIMEL air-air exchangers combine performance and simplicity: the movement of hot air from the enclosure and cool air from the surrounding environment by means of two fans circulating on either side of sealed divider walls prevents dust and humidity from penetrating the enclosure. Warm air from the panel heats these walls, which are then cooled by the colder external air. The heat transfer always takes place from the warmer to the cooler area. For this reason, these devices can only be used if the ambient temperature is at least 5C lower than the required internal temperature of the enclosure. The aluminium exchange battery is at the heart of the system. This element can be cleaned as it is easily removed. In addition, the continuous operation of an internal fan prevents hot spots in the electrical control panel. The temperature is regulated by switching the external circuit fan on and off.

HEAT CALCULATION
To cool
Air/water exchangers The operating principle of HIMEL air/water exchangers is similar to that of the air/air exchangers: the cool external air is replaced by cold water supplied by the piping of the installation itself on the industrial site. Due to this uid exchange, much larger quantities of heat can be removed, and the temperature within the electrical control panel can be adjusted to below that of the ambient air. Temperature within the panel is regulated by modulating the water ow. The water circuit is protected by a supply shut-off device ensuring the safety of your electrical installation.
Cooling units HIMEL cooling units can be used in the most severe environments, where temperatures can reach 55C. These units are particularly suitable when the required temperature of the enclosure must be lower than the ambient temperature, or when large quantities of heat must be removed. As in the case of the exchangers, they do not affect the IP rating of the panel. Due to the lter located at the intake of the external air circuit, they can operate even when the ambient air is very dusty or greasy. This device is easy to replace and ensures that the efciency of the equipment is maintained throughout its entire service life. The cooling units have an enclosure temperature control system and an alarm function which is triggered in the event of a malfunction.
To heat
Resistance heaters There are two reasons to use resistance heaters: c To heat the electrical control enclosure when the ambient temperature is too low for the components to operate correctly. c To prevent water condensation from forming. Condensation can cause short circuits, premature contact oxidation, corrosion of metal parts (particularly those of the enclosure), and it can signicantly reduce the service life of electrical and electronic components. Condensation occurs when the temperature quickly drops below the dew point. This can be prevented by simply maintaining the temperature within the enclosure at a few degrees above the ambient temperature. The design of the HIMEL heaters facilitates natural convection and ensures a both uniform and rapid heating of the enclosure.

Project phases with the PROclima software c General project data. Customer, technical manager, name, place, and date of project. c Selection of enclosure model. Range, dimensions, placement. c Temperature data: v Minimum and maximum temperatures, possible external temperatures. v Minimum and maximum temperatures desired inside the enclosure. v Altitude. v Relative humidity. c Dissipated power assessment. It is theoretically known or can be recreated from a database: v Enter the dissipated power of the components. v And/or select all the electrical and electronic elements installed inside the enclosure to then calculate an approximate value. The thermal balance consists of comparing the energy dissipated by the components of the installation with the energy dissipated spontaneously by the walls of the enclosure. It makes it possible to dene the external temperature of the enclosure without a temperature control element and to justify the installation of equipment. c Selection of the temperature control element. A screen makes it possible to select the control system (fan, exchanger, cooling unit, resistance heaters) to proportion with the programme. After the calculation, the power, specications, and reference numbers of the temperature control element and the respective accessories are needed. The programme provides a project summary that can be printed.
