I was really amazed by the hypothesis made popular first by Mr. Archibald Putt and secondly by Mr. Scotts Adams. They have really inspired me to look into the behaviors of leaders. I will not summarize their work here as they are well-known stuff. What has instigated me to write this assay is my humble observation of some good leaders and behavior of their team mates. It is absurd but let me first introduce the law of gravity. Gravitation or gravity is a natural phenomenon by which all physical bodies attract each other. Now you may feel surprised that why am I quoting this principle from Wikipedia here? This will help you to imbibe my principle easily. As the gravitational force attracts physical bodies, as per my observation, foolishness and/or inadequate knowledge and/or inefficiency helps team building process. And also these three qualities (foolishness or inadequate knowledge or inefficiency) are preset in the good leadership. The illation is that if you are technically knowledgeable or efficient, you may do your individual professional work in work-place very expeditiously but you are prone to fail in a team and you would be treated with despisedness by your team mates or bosses, albeit your good results. Weakness in any organized structures is so much pervasive that dunce cap is not really necessary to identify such thickos. You can assume their number with full of liberty. My empirical study during my carrier till now has helped me to see a standard office environment in the following manner: Mr. Efficient, a team member of an engineering department in a metal manufacturing company. He is very much knowledgeable and has some sound ideas. One day his boss calls a meeting to finalize the manufacturing drawing. Mr. Efficient has his own ideas about the drawing and execution, which are not comprehended by his other team members and his boss even. They start to call his ideas as obscure one and then they try to put all the unrelated blame on him including that of extra scrap generation in process, slowness in manufacturing process and etc. This blame game is nothing to do with ideas but just to contain his ideas. He is really court-martialed from the team. After meeting his boss has even told him to change his working style to suite the business requirement (Or inefficiency!!!). Now, Mr. Efficient is very disappointed and this meeting and such other meeting has started taking toll of his efficiency based confidence. All this was observed by one Mr. Enlighten. Mr. Enlighten understand the quality of a fantastic and good team leaderships. He has suggested to disgruntled Mr. Efficient that he should cut his knowledgeable ideas and keep them to his own use and utter only understandable and practical (so called!!!) ideas only. Fortunately and as proven, he has accepted the suggestion. Now Mr. Efficient is less radical, less creative in meetings. And he is now overwhelmingly accepted in the team with some really good remark from his boss for his changed attitude (towards efficiency). What are the inferences here? a. The use of efficiency only helps to get the job. To get the job done, blending of efficiency and inefficiency required. b. Proper mix is also absolutely necessary. Towards higher management hierarchy, more inefficiency by the lower staff is admired. c. Show of inefficiency attracts, creates and sustained professional friends amongst equal. d. You really want to get the job done, one need also to be inefficient. Not ended here.
