Eligible Trees
Must be purchased from an established nursery or supplier.
Must be from the list of eligible tree species. Species diversity is encouraged.
Shade and windbreak trees should be at least 6' (six) feet with a one inch diameter trunk. Boulevard trees should be 8' (eight) feet tall.
Must have a one year growing guarantee.
Trees must be planted between May 1st and September 1st.
Reimbursement Guidelines
Limited to a total of 6 (six) trees per individual Public Utility Customer.
Reimbursement of 2/3 of the cost of eligible tree(s) up to a maximum of $75.00 per tree. The tree(s) must be planted for energy conservation as follows:
1. Shade trees must be planted on west or east of windows.
2. Trees can be planted to shade air conditioners.
3. Evergreens can only be planted on the north or west side of the property for windbreaks.
NOTE: There is NO REIMBURSEMENT for trees planted on the south side of windows.
New Ulm Public Utilities reserve the right to discontinue this program at anytime without notice.
Funds for this program are limited to $2000.00 per year and are on a first come first serve basis.
ReLeaf Procedures
Submit a completed Tree Reimbursement Application to the New Ulm Engineering Department prior to purchasing and planting your tree(s). After receiving
written approval from the New Ulm Pubic Utilities Commission, proceed with tree purchasing and planting. After Purchasing and planting is complete, submit
the receipts for the tree(s) purchased with the appropriate tree information listed above to the City of New Ulm Engineering Department, 100 North Broadway.
Please allow 4 to 6 weeks to receive reimbursement.
Reimbursement Guidelines
Limited to a total of 3 (three) trees per individual Public Utility Customer.
Reimbursement of 2/3 of the cost of eligible tree(s) up to a maximum of $100.00 per tree to replace tree removed from under power lines. The PUC will
remove trees under power lines at its expense (excluding stump removal cost).
New Ulm Public Utilities reserve the right to discontinue this program at anytime without notice.
Replacement Procedures
Submit a completed Tree Reimbursement Application to the New Ulm Engineering Department prior to purchasing and planting your tree(s). After receiving
written approval from the New Ulm Pubic Utilities Commission, proceed with tree purchasing and planting. After Purchasing and planting is complete, submit
the receipts for the tree(s) purchased with the appropriate tree information listed above to the City of New Ulm Engineering Department, 100 North Broadway.
