Course Description: This is a traditional Pre-algebra course designed to get students ready for Algebra 1-2. Topics that will be covered include number sense and operations, solving simple equations, ratios, proportions, and relating to real-world problems through data and problem solving. Course Content: Number Sense, Equations, Expressions, Ratios, Proportions, Graphing, Functions, Statistics, Probability, and Systems.

Textbook/Materials: Algebra Readiness Prentice Hall, TI Nspire calculator, Paper, and Pencil with eraser. Binder will be provided

Grades: Grades will be based on classroom participation, homework, quizzes, tests, and projects. Grades will be calculated in the following way: 45% quarter one 45% quarter two 10% final exam Each Quarter will be broken down in the following way: Tests/Quizzes 50% Graded Practice 20% Homework10% Classwork15% Organization5%

Grading Scale: A 90-100%

B 80-89%

C 70-79%

D 60-69%

F 59% and below

PARENT ACCESS TO GRADES: Grades will be posted weekly on parent access. Students will be given progress reports bi-weekly. Parents can get additional grade information by calling the teachers directly TEACHER EXPECTATIONS: Daily Homework: Classroom Rules: Homework will be given almost every day. It is expected that all homework will be attempted, and that students will ask questions about homework problems that they were unsure of or unable to do. RESPECT OTHERS, RESPECT PROPERTY, and RESPECT SELF.

Cell Phones: Participation: Food: Attendance:

Cell phone use will not be allowed in the classroom for any reason. If a cell phone is being used by the student, the phone will be confiscated and the parent will be called. Students are expected to fully participate in all class activities every day. Food is not allowed in the classroom for any reason. (Per OPRF policy). Students are responsible to all missed work when absent from class. All work can be made-up unless absence is due to truancy or discipline.
