The Volunteer Center of Madison County is the premier

connection between volunteers and community needs. We partner with the community to mobilize volunteers and provide solutions to local challenges. But you, each individual volunteer, are what make The Volunteer Center key to this community. We believe that only people can solve community problems, and we would like to challenge you to help us help our community. The Volunteer Center was created in 1969 as a clearing-house to link new volunteers with non-profit organizations. We build the capacity of partner agencies United Way and Combined Federal Campaign to involve and manage volunteers and to address local needs through volunteering. The Volunteer Center is the only agency in Madison County that acts as a clearing-house for ALL volunteer services to over 150 non-profit agencies. Over the past year, The Volunteer Center has facilitated over 150,000 hours of volunteer service to its client agencies in Madison County (based on 1 volunteer donating 10 hours). The national average for a volunteer hour through the Points of Light Foundation report is $17.55/hour (in 2005). The Volunteer Center has provided our community with over $2.6 million in volunteer placement last year. Over 15,000 volunteers were recruited through The Volunteer Center Programs in 2004. The Volunteer Center offers volunteer opportunities in areas such as Corporate, Youth & Family, Language Bank, and General Volunteer areas. There are many ways to get involved with The Volunteer Center and our community. Please join us. We know we can provide an opportunity for you to better our community.
