In my 12 years of being an Adventist, now 23, I look back at the ebb and flow of my spiritual experience with God and found this fundamental truth in my life. This profound truth is that during the greatest failures that Ive had with my spiritual experience were the instances where I found myself neglecting my spiritual disciplines specifically my personal time with prayer and Bible reading. Back in college I was thought by a colleague how we Christians have the tripod for spiritual successthat tripod being the three disciplines that sustains and nurtures ones spiritual life (given the assumption that it is taken seriously and consistently). These three are Prayer, Bible reading, and Witnessing. Reading the Bible as one of the three tripods of a successful spiritual life is indeed a sine qua non for a Christian believer and even more for an Adventist whose belief is solidly founded on the Bible. A reason why we Christians believe this to be true is found in Gods Holy Word itself. The Bible tells us that All Scripture is breathed out by God and it is quick and powerful. When the Bible speaks of Gods Word as God breathed, we find it to be so similar with the life giving breath that God gave to Adam at Creation. The latter texts reveal that Gods Word is also quick and powerful. In other translations the landa Solijon, Rolito Catingan, Tirso Dapar, Jeddu Migrino, Joandel Solijon-Navarro, Linda Vilma Ole, Shirley Sumiword quick is usually translated as alive, it comes from the greek word zoe which means life, and on the other hand the word powerful comes from the greek energeys which is similar to our very common English word energy. This understanding and interpretation could only lead one to an appreciation of Gods Word as giving life to the dead and LITE ERARY SECTION revival to the dying soul. The Bible is not just a literary or an intellectual piece but rather a life giving Book from God that could revive and even more become life-changing for a person who reads by faith and by the Spirit. Today, one of the reasons why a number of us err in different aspects of our personal life is because of our by: Juliet T. Mendoza lack of understanding and misuse of this life giving resource. Jesus said, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. As we Seventh-day Adventists all over the world celebrate this new theme Revived by His Word may A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) bet the Mindanao State University (MSU) Main Campus in Marawi City our church be truly benefitted by Gods life giving gift and revelation of Himself, the Bible, and may through our rich and the Mountain View College (MVC) in Valencia City, Bukidnon was signed in MSU main campus on May 2006 by the experience in our daily reading we would be revived as we prepare in the soon coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus two (2) concerned presidents of the said institutions, Dr. Ricardo F. de Leon of MSU System and Dr. Daniel D. (contd of Ive found the book prev. page ) In the last days, so it will be. The Holy Book says He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still. (Revelation 22:11) This is the pronouncement of the close of probation. Time will soon come that the unsaved cannot anymore avail the grace of Jesus Christ the period of grace has ended. So let the unjust be unjust still. What a sad fate to all of us if it will be too late. So the right time is now! to open that sacred Book the Bible. Study it book by book from Genesis to Revelation. Let us not be so presumptuous that we only need to hear sermons at church or think that we know already whats in the Bible. The command is to search the Scriptures! If you think you find eternal life in the Bible, learn it firsthand! No second person, please! The attitude of the Bereans is worthy of example (Acts 17:11). Inquire what is required of us and be inspired with the greatest love story ever told. That will help us realize our need to be led to the cross, to be robed by Christs righteousness and be under Christs lordship and be saved. Let us allow the Holy Spirit to move us before it is too late. The silent yet powerful influences set in operation by the messages of the prophets regarding the Babylonian Captivity did much to prepare the way for a reformation that took place in the eighteenth year of Josiah's reign. This reform movement, by which threatened judgments were averted for a season, was brought about in a wholly unexpected manner through the discovery and study of a portion of Holy Scripture that for many years had been strangely misplaced and lost. (Prophets and Kings p. 392) Imagine! All of those things revival and reformation happened in Judah and Jerusalem just because they have read just a portion of the Bible! King Josiah and his kingdom just read only a portion of the Holy Scriptures and it turned the kingdom upside down. How much more it will be for us if all of us have studied the Bible from cover to cover! It will kindle in us great revival and reformation such as never been! turning the world upside down. What a day that will be! Then Jesus can quickly come and bring us truly home.

Be revived by His word!

I Have Found The Book!

by: Mark Ferdinand D. Sanchez
I have found the Book! echoed the voice of the high priest during the time of the kings in Judah, the remnant of the tribes of Israel. Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the Lord. Hilkiah then gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. (Read the entire historical account in 2 Kings 22:1 23:25 and in 2 Chronicles 34:1 35:19.) Shaphan the scribe went to the then king, Josiah, and he told him, saying, Hilkiah the priest has given me a book. Shaphan then read it before the king.

The least that God did in his infectious maladies and destroying the health of the community, are properly separated, isolated, and ultimately mercy to the humble Josiah was to shorten his life so that he could not witness the horrible judgments that would follow in killed. his kingdom. King Josiah died in battle and the whole kingdom mourned for his death. It may not be too late to king Josiah, the Lord had heard him, but their revival, reformation and their character change was already too late to Judah and Jerusalem. Josiah was deeply stirred as he heard read for the first time the exhortations and warnings recorded in this ancient manuscript. Never before had he realized so fully the plainness with which God had set before Israel life and death, blessing and cursing (Deuteronomy 30:19), and how repeatedly they had been urged to choose the way of life, that they might become a praise in the earth, a blessing to all nations. (Prophets and Kings, p. 393) And now, while Shaphan the scribe was reading to him out of the book of the law, the king discerned in this volume a treasure of knowledge, a powerful ally, in the work of reform he so much desired to see wrought in the land. He resolved to walk in the light of its counsels, and also to do all in his power to acquaint his people with its teachings and to lead them, if possible, to cultivate reverence and love for the law of heaven. (Ibid. p. 398) King Josiah observed that they were walking not in accordance to all that is written in the Book. Overwhelmed with sorrow and dismay, he wept bitterly and tore his royal robe! He bowed before God in agony seeking forgiveness for their sins as a rebellious nation. These are all because they had found the Book.

Afterwards I dont still fell at ease because I worry about the girls are high yielding yet at the same time low cost, it is tremendously needful to reorganize the way on how people think about fitness and health and also about food and nutrition and how it is interrelated to both traditional and convenwho are still in the upstairs they were shouting and asking for help. Ipso facto, there is a dire need for lifestyle change not just only amongst various organizations but most Often, we act like no disturbances of any manner will wash out our safety. We lie at ease with the peace that assures us vastly among Gods chosen peopleHis peculiar ones (the elect and the saved). The irony is that most people cling on of calm journey. That is, HEALING IN THE NATURAL WAY. As the famous philosopher Hippocrates puts it, Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food, so must we all, to say at least, the entire majority search, study and show ourselves approved unto God by the literature we feed our minds into, the food we take into our bodies and the actions we place ourselves upon for WE ARE WHAT WE EAT. Whats even more engrossing is that human beings, young and old, rich and poor, tall and small, intelligent and dull, as long as there is breath, all exclaim Wellness by Intelligent Design! According to Bruce R, Hyde, M.D., Wellness is predictable because we are made by Intelligent Design. If we understand our design and what supports it, then when we cooperate, healing will follow. It is promised! Exodus 15:26. Wellness is low cost, low risk, and high yield. By contrast, medicine is high cost, high risk and low yield. There is a place for both, but the greater emphasis must be upon wellness if quality of life is desired! Wellness solutions are the priority for prevention and for health recovery from disease. With this model of care, everyone is expected to get well, because we are saved (healed) by hope. This confidence is based upon Biblical and inspired principles, advancing true science, and clinical experience. The most important discovery in the realm of advancing true science is the discovery of a metabolic basis for optimizing molecular structure. Optimized structure will result in optimized function. Fundamentally, this is the basic definition of wellness. Drugs change function without changing structure, and therefore not able to provide wellness. In the context of a healthy lifestyle, nutrients first support molecular structure change as the basis for molecular function change. Wellness with confidence. Wellness by Intelligent Design!

IT past 2 am, my stomach bothered me and it was really discomforting which caused me to be awake very early Saturday morning. While worrying about my stomach, I heard somebody shouted and there was running in the hallway. I feel irritated so I listened carefully SUNOG! SUNOG!(Fire, fire.) The scream said. I got up from my bed to check if they were just joking around. To my surprise the hallway was covered with smoke. I hurriedly told my roommates who were still sleeping and I quickly pack my things and run through the main door. Sadly, we were stuck in the stairway and the smoke was huge that we couldnt breathe and everyone panicked and crying. Because I couldnt breathe but tried to stay calm I saw the glass in the door blocking the stairway and I broke it and jump through. It was really high but I made the jump through it. I was really shocked when I saw the fire and I started trembling while looking to the fire. I didnt know where to go and what to do, thanks to Jessa break the glass so we could pass through the receiving hall. At the receiving hall I remembered my cousin Rhai, I called her many times but I didnt hear her voice responding I was really worried. Gladly I find her outside the dormitory and really thankful that both of us were saved. We looked for our roommates and thankfully we found them and the four of us gather together to pray. We are really blessed for every one of us was saved. The tragedy which happened in our dormitory created a new friendship and a new life for us. Our life can be so short so we must pray and worship God for we know nothing about the life ahead of us. Death could come at any time SharmilingLaylay so we must be ready all the time `

Past 8pm in the Friday night of

June 22, 2012. We were very happy discussing about the upcoming acquaintance

party on the month of July. We`re planning everything, what we are going to wear, the motif and what kind of food we`re going to prepare and a lot more We are very happy that time that even after we were asleep the big smile in our face never disappeared. I was awaken by the sound of broken glasses, murmuring people outside while the sound of running got louder and louder. I was so sleepy looking for my cellphone to check the time. It was already 3:16am. Why the sound was really annoying. I said to myself, then got up and open the door. What I saw caused me to be shock and horrified. All I saw was dark smoke and my dorm mates running outside. Going back inside I calm myself first then wake my friend and turn to my bed. It was late when I realize that it was not room. Seriously! But never mind, the important thing was I`m still alive. Then I got my phone and my comb and run away. When I got outside, I saw my Ate Apong trembling then she said, Sila fhine, si col2x wala pa sila ka gawas!(Fhine and Col-col isnt ouside yet.). I started trembling too. Some of my dorm mates were shouting asking for help. Then the occupanst in the 2nd floor woke up and started panicing, screaming and shouting for help. Then they broke the glassed door and jump off the terrace. Praise God we were all safe, but some of our dorm mate was injured, my friend Fhine got the worse, enough to made her stop studying this semester. This tragic event makes me sad because of many reasons, but makes me happy because God gave us another chance to live (third for me) and also happy because we met new friends, friends who helped and friends we helped. Wake up! Look out!

June 23, 2012 was a very memorable date for all of the Princess Lawanen HallNorth wing occupants, because that was the day when we experienced an event that we never expected to happen even in our wildest dreams. Here, four ladies have shared their experiences as to how they escape that almost tragic incident:

The Answer

by: Cloremejudaece B. Mabida I had tarried along the unsure road of questions Why do I feel sorrowful? Why am I in deep grief? Why am I alone? Why do I thirst? Would I be quenched? Why do I hunger? Will I be filled? --- It is such a long way, Im tired and I seek for an answer, but Im all worn out While I was trodden this path, I saw a crazy man , standing before me, and he said, I felt sorrowful and fell of the dark cliff of grief, but a big pierced hand reached out to me with his brilliant face lightening up the darkness that surrounded me. He said as I walk away. As I continued the trail there appeared before me a wide ocean of truth, reflecting through the depth of it, a heart; scratched, dusty, but a hand holding it snatched every bit of my attention, it was a big hand; pierced, the crimson blood lit the dull heart, red, to life. I realized that the man I LITE ERARY SECTION met was not crazy after all, he is wise man with truth and prophecy, an angel sent by God and I wasnt able to understand him, he told me and I saw it. Now I know and the long lists of questions were answered--- the Great One saved me, quenched me, filled me, and made me realize I was never alone The long paths of questions were worth trodden for. For if I had not asked, if I had not sought for it, I never would have found the light of His great love for me And at the end of the road was the answer and I hope you air. At that moment I feel so will find it too.

A Witness

by: Christian Jun Llorca

Krause has a friend named Slade who has been accused of a crime he did not commit. He knows for sure that if he wont testify his friend will be put to jail for the rest of his life! Deep in his heart he believes that his friend is not guilty. He knows it because the day the crime happened they were together playing basketball in the gymnasium far away from the crime scene, what would he do to save his friend? After some investigations, Krause is called to the witness stand. He has to testify that his friend is not guilty and he has to pledge to speak the truth and nothing but the truth before the court. But how would he handle it? Testifying before the court before a judge, lawyers, or a jury is a scary, nerve-wracking experience for most people. Whether one is a key witness or a bystander to a crime, his testimony is important. In order to produce the facts for the consideration of the judge, people who were present at the time the crime happened, are relied upon to furnish these facts such person known as witnesses. No court system can work without witnesses. As a witness, there are certain rules you should follow such as arriving on time, dressing properly, preparing your facts, thinking clearly, and answering the questions slowly and accurately. When you are asked to take the witness stand, the first rule is to tell the truth. It is one way to witness in the court and another way to witness for God. When God said, Ye are my witnesses. You must speak for Christ and lift Him up among your friends, classmates, neighbors, or to all people and followers of God. He wants you to be one of them! There is no witness so terrible, no accuser so powerful as conscience which dwells within us -Anonymous

I had difficulty breathing since the smoke was overpowering and were jammed. Then, Fhine grabbed me and we went to one of the room for some helpless and fragile, and I thought I really need to pray. So, I invite everyone in the room for a prayer and they responded eagerly. We gathered and whispered a prayer to the Lord. After the prayer, we went out and saw someone with a hammer . We were indeed thankful because she had that hammer that could possibly break the glass door. Then, we let her through and started breaking the door. When at last the break was enough for a person to get through she stopped and everyone were racing out. Fortunately, we were out of the hall but the question was. How can we go down? It was quiet far, and the railings were waist long somehow it would be hard for us to go to the other side of the railings. But it seems nothing was impossible at that time, to add that we were really in our adrenaline rush. Some started to jump off the terrace disregarding where they`ll land, Fhine was one of them. I was left there with few others and thankfully ate gay2 was with me and she planned to tie our blanket together that would eventually serve as our rope down. We absolutely did what was planned and fortuitously I was the first one to use our improvise rope. I had successfully went to the other side of the railings then I grabbed the blanket worrying if they can carry my weight. Then, I started to put one hand below the other going down until the end of the blanket. And, with all my courage I let go mof the blanket without noticing a landscape on the ground and accordingly that was the reason I lost my balance and hit my right face on a rock. It was so painful that I think my teeth would drop off from my gums. Disregarding the pain I hurriedly run out from the building and went to the street where others are. There were crying all around, people were trembling, some were seeking their friends and all were worrying about their things. I watched the scene with disbelief, sob and cried alone. Alone? Oh, I need to find my friends. So, I went to fine them and it was not that hard because they were all there when I saw them. Then, we prayed and thanked God for the life extension and for His greatness. Charvie Mae Dela Pea

I was dreaming when somebody forcefully shake my shoulders desperately wanting me to wake up, and I did woke up. I just stared blankly at my roommate and stayed on my bed hopelessly wanting to go back to sleep. Then, she yelled at me which she never did before, she said something about fire, about going out and started to pack her things. That was where I completely gain my thoughts. Instantly, I jump off from bed bringing nothing but myself. I went out startled and begun to panic when I saw dark smoke on our hallway almost making me see nothing but human forms running to and fro. Everyone was panic; they were screaming and crying while they are running. Some were asking about their sister, some were finding their friends and others just go with the flow. I was one of the latter, I just run to wherever my feet would bring me. I wanted to go out through the stairs but it was so crowded that I could hardly breathe. Then, I retreated and when to where others are. I was quiet relived when I saw Fhine was there. Unfortunately, we were on the way out to the terrace and it was closed. It was a problem since we dont have the keys and for us it`s the only way out. We started screaming for help but none came.

Future Endeavors

The group is now on 16th year in the ministry. And one of the ultimate goals of the group is that everyone would be one in mind and spirit. We want everyone to think about God, to learn how to follow His leading, know what it really is to sacrifice and be blessed, and what it takes to serve and be used by Him. It is true some are still enjoying their youth and even inclined to so worldly things. But thats the essence of having a struggle to learn how to choose Him despite the trials and temptations. It is also undeniable that there are still those who just follow without true conviction to what they are following. But surely through Gods guidance and through the help of the Holy Spirit, what seems to be impossible will be impossible no more.

EXPERIENCING GOD
By: Cutie B. Caesares
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry. 1 Timothy 1:12 My desire to be in an outreach ministry started last year when Ronald Magallano spoke one Sabbath about their community outreach in Molave. And I never thought that that desire would be granted so soon! I am grateful to God that He gave me the privilege to join the 2012 Summer Outreach Program of the MSU SDA Family and to be a part of The Torch team. But before going on to that let me just share how God had led me to that outreach.
