No, but I can make a better one.

...and so the Hasselblad quest for perfection was born.

Victor Hasselblad was once asked by the Swedish military if he could produce an identical copy of a recovered German camera. Legend has it he responded,

NASA / HASSELBLAD

FIVE FOUR THREE TWO ONE

The Hasselblad Lunar takes its aesthetic and technological inspiration from the first camera to go into space; the Hasselblad 500C of 1957. It revives the timeless charm of the 500 through its advanced P.V.D finish frame and the contrast in colour between the carbon fibre camera body, the lens and the extended titanium mechanical controls. It offers an evocative vintage look with a truly elegant appeal.

07

BEAUTY IS IN THE COMPOSITION

Vintage and high-tech Italian design paired with Swedish tradition, for a camera featuring a unique and unmistakable style. Talent, patience and elegance with an artisans touch. Leather and wood, carefully selected raw materials, are turned into timeless stylish details recalling the know-how of authentic artisan masters.

Traditional skills, the development of special techniques, a passion for perfection: everything comes together to create objects of exceptional quality, unique because they are perfected one by one, individual as only the hand of an artist can make them.

09

AN ALMOST MAGNETIC EFFECT

Lunar is the result of meticulous engineering research. The impeccable calibration of its body makes it possible for Lunar to support both compact and professional DSLR type lenses whilst always ensuring excellent balance. Thanks to the perfectly handcrafted ergonomic grip, the relationship between user and camera is unique, creating an almost magnetic effect that causes irresistible attraction and an arresting experience. At Hasselblad we believe ergonomics and style can sit comfortably together. Lunar is the proof.

11

MADE FROM LUXURY

Hasselblads history underpins a relentless quest for excellence. Traditional skills teamed with a passion for perfection mean everything seamlessly comes together to create these objects of exceptional quality. Simultaneously the Lunar has both a vintage and a high-tech aesthetic, exemplified by its Italian design and its Swedish pedigree. Its unique. Its unmistakable.

SENSOR INFORMATION

New 24.3 Megapixel APS-C HD CMOS Sensor

The APS-C size sensor is the largest sensor in the Compact System Camera segment and larger than many DSLRs in the market. The extra-large sensor effectively enables background defocusing even in extremely low light conditions, especially in manual or semi-automatic shooting modes. Lunars sensor is more than 13x larger than 1/2.4-size sensors, 3.1x larger than 13.2 x 8.8 mm sensors, and 1.6x larger than MICRO Four Thirds sensors, resulting in much higher image quality, lower noise and faster response.

Fast and Precise MF Assist

In MF or DMF (Direct Manual Focus) the MF Assist automatically enlarges the portion of the composition on which focus is being performed, allowing for a perfect focus. Two magnifications are available - 5.9x and 11.7x.

Peaking Function For Focus Confirmation

The Peaking function allows for precise focusing by detecting the most sharply reproduced area of the image and highlighting it for confirmation. The levels of sensitivity and highlight colour are adjustable.

Contrast-Detection Autofocusing
Intelligent contrast-detection focusing in both photo and movie recording. DMF (Direct Manual Focus), two autofocus modes (Single-shot AF and Continuous AF) and three Autofocus Area settings (25-point Multi, user-selectable Flexible Spot and Centre) complete the focusing system.

Precision Digital Zoom

Precision Digital Zoom delivers up to 10x magnification of the central area of the frame. It works with any E-mount or A-mount lens, including fixed-focal length lenses.

1200-zone Metering
The advanced 1200-zone metering delivers precise exposures even in the most difficult lighting situations. It evaluates light levels and colour distribution, then it calculates in real time the exposure for each image.

Focus Tracking
This function allows you to shoot perfect in-focus pictures of moving subjects, both in photo and movie recording.

Advanced White Balance and Colour Control

Lunar features an advanced real-time white balance and colour control for both photos and videos. The desired setting can be achieved in different ways: auto mode, nine presets, manual adjustment on a colour chart or by selecting the colour temperature. Custom settings can also be saved in memory.

CREATIVE TOOLS
Besides an amazing package that surpasses most DSLRs in image quality, speed, control, and flexibility, Lunar features a set of easy-to-use tools that make taking pictures more fun and entertaining for both expert and novice photographers.

Sweep Panorama Mode

Simply press the shutter button and sweep the camera in a smooth arc, either horizontally or vertically. A series of shots are taken automatically and then stitched together into a seamless, high-resolution panoramic photo ready for large-format printing.

Light Conditions Made Easy: Auto HDR and DRO

Certain light conditions are ideal to shoot evocative images, but with great variances in light and shadow, they are often the most difficult to handle. Lunar offers two solutions to capture wonderful images in these situations. Auto High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode takes three shots at different exposures one for highlights, mid tones and shadows then digitally combines them into a single photo with rich shadow and highlight detail. D-Range Optimiser (DRO) produces natural-looking images with optimal brightness and tonal gradation. If a backlit subjects face is dark, for example, DRO recovers details hidden in the shadows and delivers a naturally bright image.

Hand-held Twilight
In Hand-held Twilight mode, Lunar shoots six photos at high speed and composites them to create one lownoise photo. This amazing technology, possible thanks to the ultra-fast Bionz processor and the Dual Noise Reduction System, produces amazingly low-noise beautiful night shots.

Thirteen Creative Styles

Thirteen Creative Style modes can be applied to photos and videos. Standard, Vivid, Portrait, Landscape, Sunset, Black & White, Clear, Deep and others depending on the scene, are the available options. Contrast, saturation and sharpness can be further fine-tuned for an additional personal touch.

Anti Motion Blur Mode

This shooting mode magically improves picture quality when shooting action scenes at long zoom, portraits and in low light situations by eliminating the need for a flash light. After taking six shots at high speed, Lunar aligns and combines them into a single surprising photo.

Fifteen Picture Effects

Picture Effect is a fun and simple way to convert any picture into a unique piece of art. Lunar provides a total of 15 effects for endless artistic possibilities. Real-time preview is available for most effects, letting you experiment and play with your creativity and imagination.

Intelligent Face Registration: Party Time

The Face Registration function allows registering up to eight faces in the camera memory. While shooting, these faces are instantly recognised by the camera that automatically focuses on them while adjusting exposure and other settings to capture them at their best.

Eight Scene Selection

Eight Scenes are available: Portrait, Sports Action, Macro, Landscape, Sunset, Night Scene, Night Portrait and Handheld Twilight. Intelligent Auto mode automatically identifies and selects the most appropriate one. Aperture, shutter speed, white balance and other parameters are adjusted to achieve the best results for each scene setting.
