Particular design problems in psychological research.

Abstract In this work we address an essential issue for the internal validity of investigation. To what point are legitimate the conclusions we get from the collected data? Which is the logic on which we rely to draw such conclusions? In methodological terms it refers to an almost dogmatic issue: the control of variables. In which the experimental method has always been presented as the purest one, however, psychological research addresses issues that can hardly be related with the orthodox version of variable control logic. Does this mean that we have to forsake this logic? No. Thats not our position. We defend the position that between these two opposite poles there is a wide road filled with the quasi-experimental, flexible and field designs that might harbor the various psychological exploration instruments, the procedural dynamic and interactive evaluations, the complex psychological constructs, and the contextual imprint of the studied phenomena. This Work will explain this Third Way, as well as the most common internal validity mistakes that are committed when the design stops being flexible and starts being incorrect. It will also be referred the investigation in the context of clinical practice. Key words: Investigation methodology, Experimental design, Quasi-experimental, control of variables, clinical investigation.
