Safety
Risks on the fire-ground should be actively managed;
working near Hazardous trees; these are a significant safety concern. CFA members and MFB employees are not to approach or mark a Clear and Present Danger tree A number of incidents and near misses occurred last season due to hazardous driving environments Fatigue can present a real risk to safety and performance

Personnel on the fire-ground should always have and maintain LACES and remember the 18 Watchouts

Changes to AIIMS
Staged implementation of AIIMS 4 The key changes this fire season are:
Clarified scope of AIIMS to the incident level Added principles of Flexibility & Unity of Command Reinforced existing concepts Reinforced existing processes and procedures No change to terminology Two changes to structure:
Implementation of a Plant Operations Unit as a separate unit in the Operations Section. Pilot of Intelligence function at selected incidents and exercises (as a unit within the Planning Section).

Stage 2 implementation will occur after the 2013/14 fire season

eMap Field
is aimed at mobile data collection or for use in a disconnected state. Data shared from eMap field will be displayed in eMap.

State Resource Request System


Allows for Resource Unit members to submit, action and track requests for additional resources during major incidents. All Resources Unit personnel, as well as those involved in the dispatch of appliances should ensure they are familiar with the system.
