(Research Interests) My general research interests are the areas of pharmacology and toxicology of herbal medicine and natural products. My current research focuses on various pharmacological activities of the extracts for herbs or herbal recipes of Thai folk medicine such as anti-cancer, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, anti-ulcerogenic and hormone-like effects etc. We are currently using various experimental models including cell culture and animals. Moreover, my other area of research interest is toxicology field, which is in the aspects of toxicity evaluation of herbs or herbal recipes extracts. With the expanding collaboration with many prominence institutes, I am not only a coordinator but a director of many projects in which we evaluate acute, sub-acute, sub-chronic and chronic toxicities in animals. Funded by research grants from several Thai government funding agencies since 2004, there have been more than 70 projects conducted and approximately 25 original articles published with in 5 years. Our major goal is to provide health professionals scientific supports for substantiating the claimed pharmacological effects of traditional medicine in order to facilitate an effective and safe use of complementary and alternative medicine among Thai.
