Quilting Made Easy for Beginners

This four week basic quilting class
gives you a choice between two
quilts. You will learn to assemble
the quilt top then machine quilt or
hand tie it. Basic sewing skills are required. Use our
sewing machine and tools or bring your own. Supply

Sea Shell Candle

SewTeens

Creative Storage Option

Wet-on-Wet Painting
Location: OVCEC, Rm 16

No experience or talent required!
Paint a complete professional oil
painting in one night! Learn how
to paint the Wet-on-Wet method
popularized by Bob Ross and other
television artists. Our experienced
instructor will lead you step-by-
step through this technique that
makes it easy and fun to create
your own masterpiece. Oil paints,
canvas, and easel will be provided.
Students will need to supply their own brushes. Brushes
for all classes are 1 fan, small round, and liner. There is a
$25 non-refundable material fee for cancellations made
within 48 hours of class. (Materials may be picked up in
the OVCEC office.)

Heartsaver Courses

Learn the critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first
aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few
minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. We
have broken down this valuable information into two classes:
CPR/AED and First Aid/BBP. OR you can take them all
together as a full day class (lunch will be provided on the full
day Heartsaver class). Call our office for additional dates

Dog ObedienceBeginning

An obedient canine companion is the key
to fully enjoying your pet and being able to share your dog with
others. Using the positive reinforcement training method
dogs, young and old (along with their humans), will learn basic
commands including sit, stay, come, leave it, take it and loose
leash walking/heeling. Dogs completing basic obedience class
are also welcome to join this class to reinforce basic skills and
work on more advanced obedience skills. Note: ALL dogs
must have written proof of current vaccinations at the first class.
This is a four week class (no class on Memorial Day).

Canine Good Citizen
Location: Adult Ed, Gym

The American Kennel Clubs Canine Good
Citizen test (CGC) is a certification program that evaluates dogs
in simulated everyday situations in a relaxed, noncompetitive
atmosphere. The purpose of the test is to ensure that dogs are
respected members of their communities and are trained to act
mannerly in the home, in public places and in the presence of
other dogs. Dogs that pass the CGC test are deemed to be
reliable family and community members and will receive a
certificate from the American Kennel Club.

The ten-step CGC certification includes important skills like:
greet a friendly stranger, sits politely for petting and move
politely through a crowd. The CGC test is an important
preparation for owners interested in the therapy dog program
that OV Community Ed offers. NOTE: ALL dogs must have
written proof of current vaccinations at the first class. This is a
four week class (no class on Memorial Day).
