SUBMITTALS General: Submit the following according to conditions of contract and division 16 specification sections. Shop drawings showing layout and types of lighting installation , including plans, elevations, sections, details of anchorage and attachments to other units of work, and conditions requiring features or other accessories.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

A.

Installer Qualifications: Engage an experienced installer who has specialized in installing lighting installation similar to those required for this project.

PROJECT CONDITIONS

A.

Moisture Content: At time of delivery, average moisture content to be 6 to 9 percent, with a maximum of 12 percent for any one piece and not more than 5 percent outside of given average range. Conditioning: Do not install lighting insturments until spaces are enclosed and at approximate humidity condition planned for occupancy. WARRANTY Warranty: Submit a written warranty executed bymanufacturer, installer, and contractor, agreeing to repair or replace lighting insturments that fails in materials or workmanship within the specified warranty period. Failures include, but are not limited to: 1. 2. 3. Buckling, warping, squeaking, and loosening. Excessive open joints or cracks. Deterioration of finishes beyond normal wear.

Warranty Period: 4 years from date of Substantial Completion.

The warranty shall not deprive the owner of other rights the owner may have under other provisions of the contract documents and will be in addition to and run concurrent with other warranties made by the contractor under requirements of the contract documents.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 A. MANUFACTURERS Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements,and as indicated by the engineer, provide samples to be approved by the engineer . The approved local manufacturer are El Sewedy ( EGY LUX ) , Emico , 3 Brothers , Moustafa Ali .

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 A.

INSPECTION Examine substrates where lighting instruments will be installed and conditions under which work will be performed. Do not proceed with work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in manner acceptable to installer. PREPARATION Where direct application of lighting installation to concrete substrate is indicated, test for dryness before proceeding with installation. Check levelness of concrete substrate to ensure not more than 6-mm deviation in any direction when checked with a 3-m straight edge. Grind down high spots or fill in low spots to correct improper conditions. Apply moisture barrier over concrete substrate or subfloor as recommended by engineer.

INSTALLATION

A.

Pattern: Comply with pattern or direction of pattern for General lighting installation as indicated in drawings or, if not indicated, as directed by engineer Technical specifications: 1. Wiring : a. The lighting installation will be installed from the final distribution boards to lighting point positions shown on the drawings , by means of a cable or wires within conduit and trunking systems with all wiring carried out to the looping-in principle , with the line cable looped from switch to switch . b. Lighting fitting will be of the type and number indicated on the drawings & schedules of lighting fittings and will be complete with the correct type & size of lamp . c. where lighting fittings are mounted on or in a suspended ceiling , conduit system will terminate with a circular conduit box at the soffit of the slab directly above the fitting & a flexible heat-resistance cable connection to the fitting will be provided . d. The conduit box will be provided with terminal block or connectors with loop-in and earth terminals (ceiling rose can be used) .

e. Flexible cable will be heat resisting insulated and sheathed , 300/500 volt grade. Sufficient length of flexible cable will be installed to allow withdrawal of the lighting fitting from the suspended ceiling . f. Where lighting fittings are mounted on or in a suspended ceiling their supports will be independent from the suspended ceiling supports . g. Except where indicated otherwise on the drawings , wall type lighting fittings will be mounted 1800 mm. from finished floor level or according to decoration drawings & subject to architect approval . h. All fluorescent fittings will be complete with quick start, electronic start ( instantenous start ) high temperature silicone insulated control gear . power factor correction capacitors , radio interference suppressors and bi-pin lamp holders . i. Incandescent tungsten filament lamps will be clear lamps for enclosed fittings & pearl lamps in all open type fittings . Fluorescent lamps will be bi-pin for all sizes & the lamp colour will be warm-light white unless noted otherwise . 2. Light fixtures : a. General: 1. The contractor will install & connect a lighting fixture (luminaries) at every fixture outlet called herein for and in the drawing either supplied by him under his contract or by others . 2. Lighting fixtures shown on plans are designated by symbols described clearly in the lighting fixtures schedules & in electrical symbols 3. All supplied & installed light fixtures signs . . . etc , by the contractor will be of the highest standards of electrical & mechanical designs with maximum efficiency obtainable made by reputable manufacturer from the standard ranges of product & illustrated in their catalogues & suitable in all respects for trouble free operation in 220 volts 50HZ at 45c . Fluorescent fittings will be complete with all internal wiring . It will be subject to the approval of engineer . Each fixture will have an underwriter & the manufacturer label fixed thereto . 4. All hangers , supports , frames & brackets of all kinds for safely erection in a place will be furnished and erected by the contractor . 5. Plaster frames for all fixtures for flush mounting (recessed) will be furnished by the contractor .

6. Final layout & type of light fixtures will be carried out by the contractor according to the reflected ceiling plans issued by the architect . b. All lamps are to be from one manufacturer . c. Discharge light source will be corrected to approximately power factor 0.9 lagging by means of individual capacitors incorporated within the lighting fittings . d. Light fixtures to be manufactured as described in schedules . Lamps to be manufactured by Osram , Philips , or approved equal . e. The internal wiring will not be less than 0.75 mm2 size with silicon rubber insulation or high temperature rated PVC clipped neatly in position , other heat resisting wires with similar properaties may be accepted . f. Each fluorescent fitting will be protected against environmental conditions at which the fitting will be fixed & will comply with individual specification of each type of fitting described in schedules of lighting fixtures . g. Individual ballast will be provided for each lamp .

h. control gear will consist of the following : 1. A ballast of proper wattage with drip-proof & fully enclosed in polyster or other suitable insulating material . The ballast will be quiet in operation with robust terminal block fully shrouded . The ballast winding temperature will not be less than 120 C at rated temperature rise of 55 C unless otherwise specified . 2. Power factor correction capacitor will be leak-proof & will have an integral discharge resistor . i. Starter switch will be electronic type of instant starting with built-in automatic cut-out (starters for 300mm fluorescent tube can be of the thermal type ) . Each starter will be of 2 pin type contained in proper canister . j. Radio interference supression capacitor system will be provided for each fitting where ever requested by drawing or light fixture specifications.. k. Lamp holders & starter-holder will be of good heat resisting insulating material capable to prevent in extended normal use , any electrical or mechanical failure . Contacts will be resilent & will be provided adequate contact pressure .
