Voith Drive is the integrated solution for an innovative drive that replaces the traditional arrangement of cardan shaft, gear unit, coupling and motor. The motors are simply slipped on at tender or drive side and drive the rolls without backlash and without any intermediate mechanical components. The frame-mounted gear unit and all mechanical drive parts, therefore, become superfluous.

The achieved torques are impressive. They are available even at low rotational speeds and remain virtually constant throughout the speed range. Because of the low circumferential backlash, the motors are characterized by maximum control quality.

The advantages of Voith Drive are obvious. On all paper and spreader rolls, in the dryer section, in the calender as well as in the wind-up section and the rope drives, the compact design of Voith Drive allows easy integration into the machine.

No oil

Through the omission of all gear wheels costly central oil lubrication is no longer required. The oil consumption is thereby considerably reduced. There are no longer any oil leakages , i.e. oil-contaminated framing parts belong to the past. This improves the environmental balance of your production line.

The motors of Voith Drive are cooled via a closed water cycle with upstream dirt filter and delivery pump. This leads to high power densities. Even continuous operation at crawl speeds is made possible without any problems. All piping is made from stainless steel.

PM 4 is the most modern LWC paper machine in the world, with a wire width of 8,900 mm and a maximum drive speed of 2,000 m/min. The latest technology requires an innovative drive concept: 30 Voith Drives of the most varied capacities ensure the necessary dynamics on PM 4 and thereby increase the total efficiency of this demanding system.

Voith received an order from Papierfabrik Crown van Gelder for the rebuild of PM 2 in the shortest time possible. The goals were: Higher production speed Elimination of the defective gear wheels Elimination of oil leakages in the frame-mounted gear units. With Voith Drive these demands were met on schedule. In addition, the energy costs were significantly cut and noise pollution for the staff was greatly reduced.
