ASSIGNMENTS

FILING, NAMING AND PRESENTING FOR DIRECTING & CINEMATOGRAPHY STUDENTS


Starting with Class #1 you will have numerous assignments. Generally there will be three kinds: 1, Written assignments 2, Photographic stills - sometimes accompanied by some writing 3, Videos Most assignments will be delivered in electronic form. Some assignments will be delivered in paper form (hardcopy). Assignments will be presented during a subsequent class, usually one or two weeks after you receive assignment. (Note: not every student will present every assignment in class.) In addition, there will be presentation assignments in which a team of students makes a brief, usually illustrated, presentation based on assigned readings. DELIVERY FORMATS: Written assignments: PDF format (unless specified otherwise) Still Photo assignment: JPEG minimum compression - 16:9 aspect ratio Written assignment with illustrations (stills, drawings,) - PDF Video Assignments: HD Video format 1080 x 1920 (or 1080 x 1440), recommended codec: H.264 (you can use presets: You Tube HD 1080 or Vimeo HD 1080 (appropriate frame rate) Class will be provided with portable hard drive, where all assignments will be collected. All assignments will be regularly backed-up to a faculty hard drive (details to be discussed). FILE HIERARCHY SYSTEM Each Assignment will have separate folder on a hard drive: Folder Naming Example: 01A_Scene_Analysis Student will name each assignment as follows: First Field: Assignment Number Second Field: Last Name of student Third field: Number of file (if multiple files are delivered.) Fields will be separated with underscore. Naming Example: 01A_Ahmadvan_01 This filing system assures that each file has identification of assignment and student.

Designated student will be collecting assignments and presenting them at the class. It is the responsibility of each student to properly name his/her files and deliver them to student assigned to collect and present particular assignment. It is then responsibility of that student to properly file those assignments, present them and archive them. Assignments also will be transferred to professors laptop either at the beginning of the class or in advance via Dropbox. Milan Podsedly Adjunct Professor Camera E.
