In the pursuit of that perfect VA score a lot of students tend to not focus on the big picture in the CAT. For exam ple the av erage CAT aspirant will go hell for leather for Fill in the Blanks (FIB ), Word Usage (WU) , Com m only Confused Words ( CCW) and Sentence Correction (SC). The problem is that for m ost aspirants the probability of getting these questions correct is around the sam e as our belov ed Prim e Minister becom ing loquacious any tim e soon. It m ay happen any day . Or nev er. So how do we hit that cov eted 9 9 percentile? (By the way - this article is designed to add a few words to y our v ocabulary range - hence the v erbosity ) We m ust realize that Section 2 is v ery clearly div ided between 2 ty pes of questions Ty pe A - These ty pes of questions are skill based and can be im prov ed by practice . You do a 1 00 LR sets / RC passages and y ou becom e better at the 1 01 st one.These questions include LR RC PJ PC and CR Ty pe B - These ty pes of questions are purely knowledge based. Solv ing ev en 3 00 FIBs / SCs/ WUs does not guarantee y ou that y ou can crack the next question! Each one is a separate unit and rarely do deriv ations work specially with a weak base in English Target 1 : Logical Reasoning Quest ions : CAT will throw 3 sets at y ou . (Or 2 sets plus one off puzzles ) You need to crack ALL OF THESE or kiss top IIM calls goodby e! And so please ensure that y our cov erage of LR ty pes of questions is absolutely thorough! Dhruvyant @writetotanveer sir, I agree with the points you made. I attempted around 26 questions sk ipping WU and one each from RC and PC and scored 98+%le in VA section(CAT 12) I have a query, should I do exercises on prepositions to counter WU questions?
