INTELLIGENT BUILDINGS
Mission
z
The Indian intelligent building management system (IBMS) market is growing at 25 per cent annually and is expected to cross the Rs 100 billion mark by 2016. Growth in the real estate sector coupled with increasing awareness about reducing the carbon footprint is the key driver for the Indian IBMS market. By 2030, Indias building occupied area is projected to increase to over 40 billion square metres. Almost 70 per cent of buildings that will exist in 2030 are yet to be built. Buildings already account for more than one-third of Indias electricity consumption; this share is expected to increase in the next two decades. Globally, buildings are projected to become the largest consumer of energy by 2030. As such, developers across the world are increasingly deploying technology intelligently to reduce energy and water consumption. Intelligent building technologies integrate the building structure, systems, services and management through a communications network. It is estimated that intelligent buildings can reduce energy consumption by at least 40 per cent and maintenance costs by 10-30 per cent. Moreover, intelligent buildings ensure greater safety and security. In India, developers are beginning to deploy advanced heating, ventilation and air-conditioning control (HVAC) and security control systems. That said, the development of intelligent buildings in the country is limited by several factors. Developers have generally considered the deployment of IBMS an additional capital expenditure due to the lack of financial assessment of long-term costs and benefits. Other factors such as inadequate capacity to incorporate and manage intelligent technologies, limited information on opportunities offered by intelligent technologies, and the lack of institutional structures to encourage and support uptake of such technologies have also hampered the development of intelligent buildings. The mission of this conference is to discuss the concept of intelligent buildings in the Indian context, showcase technology solutions, discuss challenges, propose solutions and strategies, and highlight opportunities. The conference will also present noteworthy global initiatives and projects. Target Audience
