Subject:- Proposed 30 KLPD Molasses based distillery project M/s Bhairavnath Sugar Works Ltd.

Sonari, At Post: Sonari, Tal: Paranda, Dist: Osmanabad. (Maharashtra) TOR reg. Project proposal for 30 KLPD Molasses based distillery of M/s Bhairavnath Sugar Works Ltd. Sonari, At Post: Sonari, Tal: Paranda, Dist: Osmanabad. (Maharashtra) The total land is 100 acres are available and the distillery plant is proposed to be set up in sugar factory premises in the area of 50 acres. Land enmarked for Green belt development is 33 acres. No forest land and R&R involved. Total cost of the project is Rs 2299.76 lacs. Raw material requirement: The total quantity of molasses required at 90 % capacity utilization is around 3,360 MT/month. As existing sugar factory is having crushing capacity 2500 TCD own molasses is easily available for the proposed distillery unit. Manufacturing process: A) Fermentation: Fermentation carried out by continuous fermentation process using cascade fermentors C12H22O11 + H2O 2C6 H12 O6

This breaking down with water is referred to as hydrolysis. Then, C 6 H12 O6 B) Yeast Development: In the initial stage, when the plant is started yeast is developed from slant (test tube) stage to 100 ml molasses media to propogation stage I to II and propogation stage to III then finally to the fermentor. Once the yeast is developed, fermenting cell biomass is maintained by recycling the yeast sediments separated during centrifugation of fermented liquor before distillation Heat produced fermentation is controlled by plate heat exchanger. The optimum temperature is round 32 0C to 34 0C. C) Multi Pressure Distillation: In the multi pressure distillation process the steam being injected through reboiler and the benefit of the process is that condensate will not go to increase the quantity of effluent. C2 H5 OH + 2 CO2 + 28.7 K Cal of heat.

Ambient Air quality monitoring:

Air quality has been carried out during March to May, 2008 at five air monitoring stations. SPM, RSPM, SO2, NOx values of these parameters are found within limits and ranges of observed values are: SPM (118-148 g/m3), RSPM (51-24 g/m3), SO2 (8.20-32.20 g/m3), NOx (7.50- 15.90 g/m3). The sources of air emissions form unit will be boilers, BSWL will be installed stack of adequate heights as per CPCB guidelines. Air pollution Control Facilities: Gaseous emission from fuel burning, which consists of common pollutants like SO2, NOx and SPM would be discharged into atmosphere through stacks as per stipulated height. There is proposed boiler having capacity of 10 TPH. Bagasse required for boiler is 16 MT/day, having stack height upto 30 meters, internal dia is 0.6 meters, temperature 207, velocity of gas 7.2 m/s, SPM 56 g/m3, NOx - 22 g/m3 and SO2 - 55 g/m3. The only source of air pollution is through the stack attached to the biogas and bagasse fired boiler as per CPCB norms. Biogas being clean fuel separate control measures will not be provided for SPM emission. Water requirement and effluent treatment: The total water requirement will be 510 M3/day. The water requirement is fulfilled from the Kolegaon dam and old existing bore well available within sugar factory premises. The waste water generation from 30 KLPD will be 360 m3/day. Waste water treatment: From the 30 KLPD distillery plant spent wash will be generated upto 360 m3/day which will be treated in bio methanation followed by 100% bio composting to achieve zero discharge. Solid waste management: Solid waste generation source are as follows.. 1) Suspended Solids = 2.0-2.5 MT/day. 2) Boiler ash = 7.0- 7.5 MT/day. Sludge can be used as manure and fly ash used as land filling. Green belt development: Development of green belt in and around an industrial complex is an effective way to check the dispersion of pollutants to the surrounding areas. The degree of pollution attenuation by a green belt depends on its height, width, foliage, surface area density of the leaf etc. The land enmarked for the green belt contain 6700 various plant species in the area of 15.00 Ha.

Power requirement: The power requirement for the entire project will be around 0.8 MW. BSWL going to establish 15 MW power project as a renewable Co-generation power plant based on bagasse base. Manpower Requirement: Total nos. of persons proposed to be employed for the distillery is 59 out of them is 08 persons exclusive for composting unit of the ETP. Project appraisal: M/s Bhairavnath Sugar Works Ltd. Sonari has submitted form -1. This project have been placed under A activity 5(g) ****************
