Session 2 Class Descriptions:

Junior Chorus (ages 5-7) We will prepare to sing a concert for parents and families at the end of the second fall session. We will prepare a few fall songs, and songs about the holidays. The age limit for this chorus is flexible. This chorus will not get scores to sing from, so there's no expectation to be able to read text or music. There will be incorporated movements (dance) and sometimes sign language to some of the songs. The kids will learn to use breathing and their voices correctly for choir singing. Instructors: Sabine Krantz, Rachel Casey

Basic Scientific Concepts (ages 5-7): This course is designed to allow children to explore basic science concepts, including the scientific process, biology, ecology, physics and earth sciences. The lesson plans encourage hands-on discovery of the course subjects, and facilitate children being active participants in their own learning. Instructors: Donna and Paul Gregory

Systems of the Body? Health? (ages 5-7): ???? Instructor: Kaytlyn Flansburgh

Music Appreciation (ages 5-7): ???? Instructor: Sabine Krantz

Art (ages 5-7): The goal of this class is to enjoy creating art, and at the same time learn about artists throughout the ages. We'll do some drawing, some experiments with color, create some prints, and we'll throw in some crafts to round out the class. Art at any age should be creative & fun. We want every child to leave this class having more knowledge of famous artists and also looking forward to their next art adventure. Instructor: Janie Stvan

Senior Chorus (ages 8-10, 11+): We will prepare to sing a concert for parents and families at the end of the second fall session. This group will use music for almost all the songs they learn, but be expected to have them memorized before the concert. We will focus on

2-part singing, canons and partner songs. We will learn about basic vocal technique and different use of singing and speaking voices. The age limit is flexible. Junior and Senior chorus will learn a couple of songs that are the same, but also several songs that are different for the two choruses. Instructors: Sabine Krantz, Rachel Casey

Math Explorers (ages 8-10): This will be a fun, active class where kids will explore different math concepts through games and group activities. Whether the kids play a probability game, explore ancient puzzles, or do jumping jacks to collect and represent data, the students will be up and about exploring math! Instructor: Anne DeCampo

World History Activities (ages 8-10): This will be a chronological study of the Middle Ages in Africa, China, Europe and the Americas. topics changed at all?
