Chapter 2 Reasoning and Proof 6 days Truth in Advertising Project - resources on Moodle Students will learn what a conditional statement is, the various forms of a conditional statement, and how to analyze its truth value. They will also learn the Laws of Syllogism and Detachment and the basics of writing a 2 column proof. As they master these objectives they will create an advertisement for the product of their choice and develop an ad campaign to market it. Their final product will follow the rubric on Moodle and be presented to their classmates on the last day of the project.

Chapter 3 Parallel and Perpendicular Lines 10 days Day 1: 3-1 Students will watch 3-1 video and complete a 3-1 concept organizer Classwork for Parallel Lines and Transversals is p176 ex 14-34 even, 37, 44, 51-55 Homework is to watch the 3-2 video and answer thefollowing questions. Focus Questions: 1) Given a pair of parallel lines and a transversal, a) what angle pairs are congruent? b) Which angle pairs are supplementary? 2) Give an example from a video, showing each step and the reasoning behind it, of how to use algebra to find angle measures. Day 2: 3-2 Class work for Angles and Parallel Lines is p183 Ex 12-22 even, 25, 27, 38, 39, 42, 47-50 Homework is to review class work, memorize definitions and facts from notes, and do Khan Academy bonus activities to prepare for a quiz on 3-1 and 3-2

Day 3: QUIZ 3-1 & 3-2 and watch 3-3 & 3-4 videos on Slopes and Equations of Lines, completing the concept organizer Day 4: Students will use the information in their notes to do the 3-3 / 3-4 worksheets Homework: complete worksheets Day 5: 3-4 Geometry Lab: Equations of Perpendicular Bisectors Direct instruction on how to find the equation of a perpendicular bisector of a line segment given 2 points supported by a video with example found on the moodle After the instruction students will complete the Lab sheet finding 7 perpendicular bisectors. Homework is to review class work, memorize definitions and facts from notes, and do Khan Academy bonus activities to prepare for a quiz on 3-3 and 3-4. Day 6: QUIZ 3-3 & 3-4 After quiz students will watch the 3-6 video on Moodle and answer the focus questions in their notebooks. (we are skipping 3-5) Focus Questions: 1) How do you find the shortest distance between a point and a line? Give an example problem with each step clearly labeled like in the video. 2) How do you find the shortest distance between 2 parallel lines? Give an example problem with each step clearly labeled.
