The Company specializes in large-scale projects with hightechnology and high-engineering requirements, and has a reputation for quality products and services offering on-budget, on-time delivery.
Scope of Work High-rises Convention Centers Sports Complexes Public Buildings Industrial Facilities Activities High-Level Engineering Detailing & Modeling Fabrication & Assembly Installation
Company History
1956 - 1991 ADF began its operations in 1956 as a blacksmith shop operated by Jacques Paschini, the father of Pierre, Jean and Marise Paschini, who have, since the beginning of the 1980s, been the principal shareholders and officers of the Company. In the early 1980s, ADF refocused its activities on the production of structural steel for the non-residential construction industry in Quebec and Ontario.
1992 - 1996 In 1992, ADF established a sales office in Coral Springs, Florida. As a result of its rapid success and to better serve the U.S. market, ADF built a new production plant in early 1994.
1997 - 1998 In April 1997, the main production operations were moved to a new plant in Terrebonne, Quebec, which maximizes the utilization of high-technology computerized and fully automated production lines.
1999 In July 1999, ADF became a public company whose shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange (Symbol: DRX).
2000-2011 ADF is strenghtening its position as a North American leader in structural steel, and developing the overseas market by entering into strategic alliances with major engineering firms and steel fabricators which have a continued presence on the international scene.

Certifications
ADF maintains high quality standards for all its business operations and has thereby developed a solid reputation for quality products and services. The Company has obtained a number of certifications which attest to its commitment to quality, notably the AISC CERTIFIED FABRICATOR certification from the American Institute of Steel Construction, of which the Company is also a member.
High-Rises
An architectural landmark in New York City, 1 World Trade Center (WTC), a.k.a. the Freedom Tower will soar a symbolic 1,776 feet (541.3m) skyward to become a Americas tallest building. The 2.6-million-ft2 building will include office space, world-class restaurants, broadcast and antenna facilities and will be located on theNorthwest corner of the WTC site. ADFs contract includes the fabrication and delivery of the structural steel and heavy assembled steel components of an important part of the Freedom Tower. It also calls for the fabrication of the base and mast of the huge antenna located on the roof of the high-rise, of which some steel components weight upwards of 70 tons.

A prestigious contract for ADF, offering complex geometry challenges and rigorous architectural specifications. Over 9,700 tons of structural steel were required to complete this project of 495,000 sq. ft., and which features two main halls (Ballet and Concert) linked by a pedestrian bridge. The Concert Hall is supported by 14 main trusses weighing 40 tons each and the Ballet Hall centers around 18 trusses of 65 tons each.

Each arch is approximately 340 feet long, on a 103 feet radius. These trusses weigh an average of 75 tons each. ADF preassembled one third of the trusses to guarantee a tigh fit. This insures easy on-site installation and maintains the aesthetic qualities of the trusses. The knocked down components were shipped to the site, reassembled on the ground into huge sections. The curved decks and all interior connections for the artifacts were installed, allowing for a quick and precise installation of these components.

Ste.Anne-de-Bellevue CN Bridge
Ste.Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, Canada
Client: Canadian National Railway (CN)
This contract required the replacement of the railway bridge span No 4, the assembly and the installation of new span. Barges, cranes and hydraulic lifts were used to replace the old span and install the new one in place.
1,200 tons
This contract calls for the fabrication and installation of the elevated, single and double, straight and curve, guideway structural steel box trusses of its people transit system, including cable tray support steel and bracing system, a three-km long structure. Rigorous fabrication requirements, aiming at the optimal ride comfort of passengers, and a challenging installation logistic due to airport environment and bridge and overpass restrictions, characterize this project. All structural steel works are executed according to the European metric steel system.
ADF was awarded the contract for the engineering, fabrication and installation of the steel structure of a new passenger pier at the Port San Juan. The structure, two huge triangular pylons, made of large cylindrical steel tubes _ some having over three feet in diameter _ were assembled on-site in three sections, and then lifted up in place with the help of a crane installed on a barge.
The result goes well beyond 3D: once the 3D model of a project structure has been built, the model becomes the virtual database for everything related to the project, from raw material to erection schemes. Furthermore, the model is fully accessible via ADFs E-Platform by all members of the project team (owner, contractor, architects, engineers, draftsmen and other trades):

ADFS SOLUTION TO PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Combining its 3D capabilities with the 4th dimension (time), ADF has developed technological applications which allow us to follow in real time, the status of the work progression for connections, engineering, fabrication and installation. From the model built, ADF can also extract and analyze all types of reports, such as materiallisting, % of completion, installation progress, etc., for any phase of the project.
