ADF Group Inc. is a North American leader in the design, engineering, fabrication, assembly and selective installation of complex structural steel projects. The Company specializes in large-scale projects with hightechnology and high-engineering requirements, and has a reputation for quality products and services offering on-budget, on-time delivery.

Scope of Work High-rises Convention Centers Sports Complexes Public Buildings Industrial Facilities Activities High-Level Engineering Detailing & Modeling Fabrication & Assembly Installation

Company History

1956 - 1991 ADF began its operations in 1956 as a blacksmith shop operated by Jacques Paschini, the father of Pierre, Jean and Marise Paschini, who have, since the beginning of the 1980s, been the principal shareholders and officers of the Company. In the early 1980s, ADF refocused its activities on the production of structural steel for the non-residential construction industry in Quebec and Ontario.

1992 - 1996 In 1992, ADF established a sales office in Coral Springs, Florida. As a result of its rapid success and to better serve the U.S. market, ADF built a new production plant in early 1994.

1997 - 1998 In April 1997, the main production operations were moved to a new plant in Terrebonne, Quebec, which maximizes the utilization of high-technology computerized and fully automated production lines.

1999 In July 1999, ADF became a public company whose shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange (Symbol: DRX).

2000-2011 ADF is strenghtening its position as a North American leader in structural steel, and developing the overseas market by entering into strategic alliances with major engineering firms and steel fabricators which have a continued presence on the international scene.

ADF relied on the approach provided by its OSD Solution to come up with efficient engineering solutions for the fabrication and installation of the arches.
Client: Hensel Phelps Construction Co. Architects: Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum (HOK) Engineers: Spielgel, Zamenick & Shah Inc.

5,500 tons

Each arch is approximately 340 feet long, on a 103 feet radius. These trusses weigh an average of 75 tons each. ADF preassembled one third of the trusses to guarantee a tigh fit. This insures easy on-site installation and maintains the aesthetic qualities of the trusses. The knocked down components were shipped to the site, reassembled on the ground into huge sections. The curved decks and all interior connections for the artifacts were installed, allowing for a quick and precise installation of these components.

ADF Project Management and 4D Technology

Engineering, Detailing & Modeling

ADF uses leading-edge 3D software for its engineering and detailing needs, and can produce precise and detailed models for any structural steel project. ADFs engineering & detailing team has successfully integrated Tekla Structures 3D software to the Companys existing project engineering and detailing workflow.

The result goes well beyond 3D: once the 3D model of a project structure has been built, the model becomes the virtual database for everything related to the project, from raw material to erection schemes. Furthermore, the model is fully accessible via ADFs E-Platform by all members of the project team (owner, contractor, architects, engineers, draftsmen and other trades):
