Calculation Cover Sheet

Calc No. Project title Client Calculation title Line Stop Welded to Shoe Calculation - Template Calculation objective The purpose of this calculation is to check the strength of line stops welded to shoes. Notes To User 1. The this sheet should be removed prior to issuing 2. The cells with RED text on the calc sheets are required input. These can be entered manually or the existing "LOOKUP" functions can be used providing the reference data is verified. Cells with black text are calculated values and should not be modified 3. Take care not to break any links that retrieve data from following sheets. 4. The main calc sheets uses data pulled from the following sheets that is specific to project piping specifications. These sheets should be modified for a specific project or deleted and then the data on the main calc sheets entered manually. 5. All assumptions must be verified Calculation method The following two criteria are to be used to check the strength of line stops welded to shoes: 1. Weld strength. 2. Bending strength of welded attachment. Assumptions The following conditions / assumptions have been used in the calculations: 1. Hot allowable stress at ambient temperature. Line stops on shoes are assumed to be sufficiently removed from the line pipe so that they do not see any significant temperature rise due to elevated line pipe temperatures. 2. Line method used to calculate linear section moduli of welds. 3. Fillet weld size shall be 6mm UNO. 4. Fillet weld leg length = h (mm). For all weld calculations the throat thickness is used as the weld size (i.e. h/2 0.5), which is conservative. 5. For all weld calculations, the full penetration welds are approximated by the throat thickness of an equivalent fillet weld, applied at the outside edge. 6. Circumferential and longitudinal stresses are considered independently of each other. 7. Supports are designed for bending and compressive/tensile stresses only. Other stresses are not considered (eg shear and torsion). References 1.XXXXXXXXXXX Topsides Pipe Stress Analysis Philosophy 2. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Piping Material Specification 3. Dependent Calculations 1. Template is based on the relevant calculation sheets in XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Standard pipe supports - Welded attachment design - Shoes, line stops & guides

Conclusions 1. Stresses are within code allowable limits. 2. Line stops welded to shoes are adequate at the location specified for the loads shown on the calculation sheets.
