Value proposition OEM and AM

Conveyor unit sealed spherical roller bearing Compact solution and downsizing (OEM) Simplified design process. Reduced width in solution
- no need for taconite (OEM) The new offer will: Reduce maintenance. Reduce cost of handling grease (purchase, use, destruction) (AM)

Slide from Conveyor NMO 2007

Improve service life. MTBF (AM) by higher

cleanliness (AM) and by avoiding contamination at assembly (OEM/AM) The solution is also:

Environmentally friendly (OEM/AM) and brings a

higher degree of health & safety to the application (OEM/AM)

Seal knowledge
Three barriers
Labyrinth seal as a primary seal Bearing seal as a secondary seal Grease fill in cavity for harsh conditions

Slide from Conveyor NMO 2007

In a normal design with open bearing the same grease is used to fill the house and to lubricate the bearing. This means that as soon as the contaminant (particles, air, water) passes the outer seal it will start to effect the lubrication of the bearing. Particles can enter the rolling contact and create damages. Air will start to detoriate the lubrication ability of the grease and give shorter life. Water can start to corrode the surfaces. All this implies that you need a very good outer seal. A one seal system is also very risky to use since as soon as you get a damage on the seal it will fail to work. With a Sealed SRB and the three barrier system you have the option to use different grease than the bearing grease to fill the house. It can be a low cost, high performance, or as SKF recommends, a biodegradable grease (LGGB2). The function of the bearing will be as good as it gets since the bearing grease has been selected and developed by SKF for the sealed SRB. It is filled in a clean factory environment with the right amount, the right proceedure and at the right place inside the bearing.

The cavity between the two seals should be filled with grease to prevent contamination from entering the bearing

Sealed SRB

Sealed SRB increases Mean Time Between Failure - MTBF (longer service life)
Decrease MTTR Reliability MTBF has limited value

MTTR

Time

Sealed SRB increases MTBF

Decrease in Maintainance To Repair (MTTR) solutions as split SRB, have limited value compared to increase in MTBF Real Value is to increase MTBF
