Demonstrate the treatment and application of data 4. Develop students ability in form a scientific hypothesis Upon completion of this module, the student will be able to: 1. Explain the various methods for developing research ideas. 2. Differentiate between primary and secondary sources, and when each source should be used in the research process. 3. Name and search the various abstracts and electronic data bases to find relevant research references. 4. Outline the content areas of a general research report. 5. Outline an effective strategy for organizing and understanding the research material you have gathered. 6. Determine the best research strategy given your hypothesis. 7. Identify the research studys population and sample. 8. Differentiate, using examples, between applied and basic research. 9. Identify laboratory and field research in published research reports. 10. Understand the term external validity and how to generalize the result of a research study.
