At its most basic, prayer is a combination of intention and attention. When we pray we intend to a specific attitude or reality and then set our attention on some focus. The purpose of the Practicing Prayer group at Foothills Congregational Church is to try out different intentions and different focuses for our attention as a way of exploring our personal spirituality. During advent we will use bible passages as our attention focus, practicing a method called Lectio Devina.

For some the +oy and activity of the holiday season serves to highlight the loss of someone special. For some the gaiety of those around them is a painful contrast to their own internal struggles with dar*er emotions. ,f you find yourself, at times, feeling blue during the holiday season, this worship service is for you. We will see* to access the memories of who and what we have lost with a sense of love. We will hold a space for each of us to feel what is authentically in our hearts this season. Come light a candle of hope in the dar*ness.
