1. &,)-.),"* .8 Is cheating evei iight. Boes the aigument "because eveiyone
else is uoing it" make it iight. Can you think of some consequences foi
society if moiality weie baseu on that aigument.
If morality were based on societys activities, then it would be difficult to
ascertain the justice of things. The reason modern society is what it is today is
that society has thrived on a common understanding of morals, which though
potentially just local, have defined who we are today. If we were to shift from that
paradigm to another wherein the majority would follow just one, and if that one
were to do something wrong in the context of our current form of morality, then
the repercussions would be greater in magnitude because this ideology would
render the decision-making processes of other people invalid. Doing so would
then possibly create a dystopia, wherein all societal constructs such as order and
peace would break down. The action of one does not immediately make it
correct.

iight to limit youi "fun".
Personally, I would not waver regardless of the drug because I am aware
of both my obligations in society and to my family. It is illegal to take drugs, and
doing just that would violate the law. Further more, if my parents were to find out
that I did in fact do drugs, then their idea of me would be destroyed; and not just
thatI might possibly waste their efforts in creating me as the man that I am
today. To an extent, the authorities in my life, such as my parents and the
Church, have a degree of control over my choices as they have influenced my
life and shaped it to what it is today, and so perhaps they have a say as well,
albeit a relatively small one.
3. &,)-.),"* +8 Aie we always obligeu to follow authoiity. Wheie uo we
uiaw a line between uisobeuience to law anu conscience.
Our obligation to following authority should be somewhat fickle because of
several reasons. One is that the authority is not always correct solely because he
is the authoritya persons position does not necessarily speak of his
competence in his particular field, and so even the greatest authorities are not
infallible. Another is that the authority does not dictate what transpires inside your
conscienceif the orders do not align with your moral code, then perhaps there
are other, better means for things to be done.
