3. REQUIREMENTS

3.1 First articie. Unless otkerwise specified, the airman!s individual survival kits furnished under this specification shall be a prcduct which fa+s been inspected and bae passed the first article inspection specified in 4.3 threugb 4.3.2. 3.2 Materials and compenente. The materiais and components simii conform to applicable specfficatione, standards, aad drawings, as iisted or requir&dherein. The precessfng piast, grounds, equipment, personzi practices, and sanitary procedures used in the production of tbe survival kits shall minimize the possibility of contamination of the contztners and the component thrnugh microbial growth, dust, pests, rodents, condensate, or other unsanitary sources. Tim prcducts sbail be pmpered, processed, and bandied in a manner that sbail minimize deterioration or darnage.

The sun and tug repqilent ointment shall be 6iliccte Sun N Bug Ineect Repellent and Sun Screen as manufactured by the SllIcote Corporation, OabkosL Wieconeiw or Sun Screen and Insect Repellent as manufactured by the Day-Baldwin, incorporated, Hillside, New Jersey; or equivalent. One ounce of the sun and kg repellent ointment shall be packaged in a metal squeeze tube.
