SEIFERT DYNALUX
Imaging System for Dynamic Radioscopy
Application
The imaging system DYNALUX is a linear X-ray detector the output signal of which corresponds to the density characteristics in the workpiece plane which is defined by the focal spot of the X-ray tube and the linear detector. The workpiece motion vertical to the direction of the detector diode and a periodic storing of the output signal produce information on the twodimensional density distribution inside the workpiece which will be displayed in a motion picture on the monitor. Owing to the image generation described above, the display of the workpiece structure in the direction of movement is practically undistorted like an image in parallel perspective. The image vertical to the direction of movement appears in central perspective as is the case with conventional radioscopy. Due to the essentially one-dimensional structure of the detector the cone of rays can be collimated to a so-called fan beam, a fact which results in a drastic decrease in parasitic scattered radiation and consequently in an increase in image contrast.

Features
In the field of radioscopic materials testing and topographic inspection the DYNALUX system offers advantages as described below:

Large effective receiving surfaceproviding a sensitive length of 460 mm High detail visibility provided by 1024 Si diodes per receiving line Large transmission range due to scattered radiation suppression and a large dynamic range of the Si diodes

Description
The receiver unit contains as the main element the line detector consisting of 1024 linearly arranged Si diodes the light-sensitive surface of which is covered by a scintillation layer used as radiation converter. The size of the light-sensitive surface of each single diode amounts to 0.45 x 0.6 mm, providing a total sensitive receiver surface of 0.6 x 460 mm. The slit collimator belonging to the receiver unit is a two-piece element which protects the amplifying electronic system against X-radiation. The receiver unit consists of a splashproof light-alloy housing in which the line detector itself is installed. The interior of the housing wall facing the X-ray source has a 6 mm lead-sheet lining. Wall and lead-sheet lining contain a longitudinal slit being used as X-ray input slit. The slit is sealed against splash by a radiation-transparent foil. Inside the housing the line detector with its X-ray sensitive Si diodes is adjusted in relation to the X-ray input slit. A plug connection at the narrow side enables the connection of the receiver unit with the signal processing unit.
