Statement of Purpose:

The General Manager utilizes and coordinates all services provided by Le Pain Quotidien to manage the store consistent with the short and long term interests of the company, its employees and the local environment in which we live. S/he will consistently provide our customers with the highest level of service possible and be responsible for achieving budgeted revenue goals and monitoring of expenses. Manages a total of 3+ Assistant Managers / Shift Supervisor; is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Manages all activities related to operations and development of company products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Leadership Maintains manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and image. Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met. Develop and support a positive attitude Maintain employee attitude and morale by recognizing outstanding performance and service Motivate and develop staff in order to encourage their professional development Provide an "open door" policy where employees are free to express their concerns and feelings without fear of retribution or ill will Develop a pool of potential Assistant Managers/supervisors to meet the long range Company objectives Planning & Execution Provides input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products. Coordinates manufacturing activities suppliers to obtain optimum production, machines, and equipment. Monitor Operational budgets for restaurant. Implement strategies as necessary to ensure that the restaurant is operated in consistence with Company standards and policies, and meet, or exceed Company projections for financial performance. Ensure that goals will be met through appropriate planning and organization of staff, inventory, expenses for short and/or long term success. Maintain expenses measure as a percentage of sales. Meet or exceed the budgeted margin contribution. Make staff aware of sales goals. Ensures the proper types and amounts of materials, supplies and merchandise are ordered and stocked. Decides optimum stock levels against sales, inventory costs and budget. Maximises store profitability by seeking opportunities to increase sales, managing inventory effectively, and controlling materials / staff costs. Decides how to manage costs within budget, identifies/implements methods of increasing sales. Business Requirements & Reporting Develops budget and cost controls Obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered. Ensure that the store is in compliance with all State and Federal employment laws, including wage and hour, human rights and equal employment opportunities. Maintain safe working conditions for employees and customers; Resolve safety concerns quickly. Ensure store security from internal and external theft and know the proper apprehension and prosecution procedures for your State. Review on a monthly basis, the store's progress with the District Manager. Hold weekly staff meetings and submit notes to District Manager. Ensure that company policy and procedures are communicated in a timely manner and adhered to accordingly. Write performance evaluations and goal assessments on the Assistant Manager Evaluate all store employees with the Assistant Manager; Ensure that reviews are given on schedule and documentation is received by the Human Resources Department according to the guidelines outlined by the H.R. Accountable for the stores financial contribution, submitting daily, weekly and quarterly financial reports to the operations manager

Ensures all cash handling and cash register functions are performed in an accurate and consistent manner, and in full accordance with company procedures. Maximises store profitability by seeking opportunities to increase sales, managing inventory effectively, and controlling materials / staff costs. Accountable for the stores financial contribution, submitting daily, weekly and quarterly financial reports to the operations manager Ensures all cash handling and cash register functions are performed in an accurate and consistent manner, and in full accordance with company procedures. Decides how to manage costs within budget, identifies/implements methods of increasing sales. Team building & Development Instill in your employees the meaning and importance of customer service. Provide leadership by delegating tasks, responding to staff inquiries and providing overall direction to section employees. Set and Manage performance targets. Empower staff to "use their best judgment" in all customer service matters. Promote and monitor quality of service among staff through training and by acting as a positive role model. Be personally available to all customers to communicate and identify their needs and address their questions or concerns. Maintain training standards to ensure both product and systems expertise that will improve store operations and allow for better customer service. Maintain open and positive relations with all divisions of the company.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Food Handlers/Safety/Sanitation Certifications as required by city, state, municipality Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification as required by city, state, municipality Other Maintain the food quality and food execution based on Le Pain Quotidien Standards Ensures that the Kitchen is properly maintained based on Department of Health Standards Flexible work schedule including occasional weekend and/or evening work combined with some travel Responsible for covering any shifts, as needed (i.e. staff break and/or meal periods, absences, early/late shifts). The amount of time dedicated to cover these shifts will vary from store to store, as business dictates.
