) Topic sentence found at the beginning of the paragraph: My First Day My first day of college was a disaster. First, I went to the wrong classroom for math. I was sitting in the class, surrounded by people taking notes and paying attention to how to do equations, which would have been okay if I was supposed to be in an algebra class. In reality, I was supposed to be in geometry, and when I discovered my error, I had already missed the first twenty minutes of a one-hour class. When I got to the correct class, all twenty-five students turned and looked at me as the teacher said, "You're late." That would have been bad enough, but in my next class my history teacher spoke so fast I could not follow most of what he said. The only thing I did hear was that we were having a quiz tomorrow over today's lecture. My day seemed to be going better during botany class, that is, until we visited the lab. I had a sneezing fit because of one of the plants in the lab and had to leave the room. When I finally finished my classes for the day, I discovered I had locked my keys in the car and had to wait for my brother to bring another set. My first day of school was so bad that I know the rest will have to be better. 2.) Topic sentence found at the middle of the paragraph: Red-eye reduction When a camera flash is used in a low-light environment, the subject's eyes may appear red in the finished photograph. What is known as "red-eye" is the result of light from the flash reflecting off the pupils of the eyes. The phenomenon of red-eye can be lessened by using the red-eye reduction feature found on many SLR cameras. This feature activates a lamp which shines a small light directly into the subject's eyes. When this happens, the diameter of the pupil is reduced, thus tightening the opening in the iris. Since a smaller pupil means a smaller host for the reflection, the chances of red-eye occurring are greatly reduced.

It's that time of year again. December has come and with it all the joys of Christmas. But what is the real meaning of Christmas? Is it the gifts under the tree, the lights in the windows, the cards in the mail, turkey dinners with family and friends, snow in the yard, stockings hanging in the living room, and shouts of "Merry Christmas" to those who pass us in the streets? Is this really Christmas? For many people, Christmas is a time of sorrow. They don't have the extra money to buy presents for their children, family, and friends. Many are saddened at Christmastime when they think of their loved ones who will not be able to come home for various reasons. Turkey dinners may be only a wish and not a reality for some. 6.) Importance of Education

Education, is it really important? Yes. Education is really important to us. It is the knowledge of putting one's potentials to maximum use. We consider education as a very precious tool in life. It cannot be measured by money, fame and other things for we consider this as a key to success that disregards the stature in life and financial capabilities as long as theres the desire to achieve the goals we envision in life. One can safely say that a human being is not in the proper sense till he is educated. Without education people wouldnt have their high developed skills and talents that would help them become successful both in our careers, family in making right decisions in life and to become aware of our environment. Education is the only treasure that one keeps and that which nobody can take away us from. Every student can enjoy education if only we, as students, know how to balance our activities that would make it more interesting. Education plays a very important role to us, students. It is one of the most important keys to open the door of success and serves as a milestone to our way going to the top of our dreams. Education may be viewed as a process, a product or both. It is a lifelong process that includes both formal instruction and a broad range of experiences. It is the result of the societys need to prepare its young minds for a future role. It is the natural process of growth. For some students, especially to young adults or teenagers, education is just a game. For them, it is just simply going to school sitting on their own chairs, taking down notes, listening to their teachers, answering the books and taking the exams. With the attitude bahala na, students enjoy school life as light as a feather. Some dont mind anymore of the consequence it will bring or what the results would be of the lax behavior they have whenever there are examination to be taken. Some others feel bored. They do not listen and just do what they want.

7.) My Evaluation on the Aquino government -First of all as a student, I saw many improvements of our country under the Aquino government. There was an improvement in the economical and environmental status, Perhaps the most favorable approach in responding to the Noynoy government should be based around the strategic view that this government is a perpetuation of the elite liberal-democracy and on the reality that the masses respond to this government. Thus, the tactical approach could be maximizing the huge mandate of Aquino in pushing for the concrete demands of the people and challenging it with its own slogan of kung walang corrupt walang mahirap and matuwid na daan. This means turning this governments own mandate and slogan into a pressure. The masses should be independently mobilized around this in order to test and expose the limits of this system and to enable the masses to go through a political experience to awaken their consciousness that this bourgeois regime is inherently incapable of answering the ills and evils of the society. This political experience should help shape the consciousness of the people that their emancipation rest solely on their own making. The real challenge for us in responding with the new regime is how to maximize this situation with the primary objective of strengthening and expanding our mass bases and towards the weakening of the system. No matter how democratic and populist this regime could be, the fulfillment of the democratic demands of the people is not automatically given it is earned the hard way. Thus, our strength should be considerable and our forces should be militant enough. In so doing, we should never forget even for a single moment that we should take shape into a revolutionary mass socialist movement, with an insurrectionary character in the opportune time.
