Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar Advertisement for Junior Research Fellow

IIT Gandhinagar invites applications for 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for research and development work on high fidelity computational modelling and design optimisation of engineered systems in the area of High Performance Computational Engineering Using Parallel Computing Platforms. Candidates with expertise and/or interest in integrating Computational Fluid Dynamics focusing on macroscopic methods such LES and or DNS, Computational Structural Dynamics using High Performance Computing and Design Optimisation Methods for addressing Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems are encouraged to apply. Candidates must hold a good academic degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and/or related areas. Those who have recently graduated or waiting for thesis defence after thesis submission may also apply. S/He is expected to be familiar with parallel computing, the Unix/Linux operating systems and programming in C/Matlab/Python languages as well as open source computational engineering softwares. Interest in GPU/CUDA programming will be a welcome advantage as the computational work will use the Multi-core and GPU HPC Cluster at IITGN as well as resources on the Indian Grid, Garuda such as CDAC High Performance Computing Resources. Please note that the target audience for this advertisement are candidates with a strong engineering, applied mathematics and computational modeling skills. Candidates should have an excellent academic record in engineering, preferably a Masters degree in Engineering, or a good BTech degree with strong domain knowledge in Fluid Dynamics, Structural Dynamics and skill sets in the specified areas, strong aptitude for mathematical and numerical modelling, knowledge of high performance computing skills in implementing computational engineering and science algorithms and softwares on multi-core and GPU/CUDA computing platformsand good communication skills. Familiarity with Linux Operating Systems and parallel computing will be useful. The fellowship will be limited to three years carrying a monthly consolidated stipend of Rs. 16000/- + 20% HRA and medical benefits as per the Institute norms. The progress of research work would be evaluated annually through annual progress reports. On completion of two years as JRF the stipend of a fellow may be increased to Rs. 18,000/p.m. + 20% HRA for the 3rd year subject to an assessment of the candidate's research progress and achievements. In the event that the candidate is not upgraded, the fellow will continue as JRF with a stipend of Rs. 16,000/- p.m. + 20% HRA for the 3rd year JRFs can also register for pursuing Ph.D programme in the same area of research at IIT Gandhinagar.
