OVERVIEW
Migration of consumers, enterprises, and service providers to IP Communications is creating new challenges for IP networks. As these networks evolve, their edges become increasingly more complex. And as the array of devices and endpoints continues to increase, and customers require seamless access to these advanced networks; this creates security, interoperability, and service assurance issues for network operators. Flexibility Often Means Complexity Every incremental piece of functionality that is added to IP Communications comes with a new set of challenges (a new translation, another configuration screen, additional dial or knob to the SBC, etc.) to ensure that the session makes its way successfully from end-to-end. The SBCs ever increasing role in stitching together partner networks and delivering seamless communications across a multi-vendor, multi-protocol, multi-architecture environment often yields significant operational challenges:

Simplified Operational Control Centralized quality and performance management Intuitive web based user access Central open API for back office integration CDR Mediation Deep dive remote Troubleshooting

Lack of skilled resources Significant interop time and cost Enormous documentation footprint Difficult to troubleshoot errors

Insightful Policy Managment Intelligent traffic & user screening Multi-stage rate limiting Recognize patterns to dynamically blacklist malicious source Detection & alarming for fraud & spam Intelligent Interworking Real time menu driven SIP flexible message manipulation Dynamically react to SIP responses Proactive transcoding Any-Any DTMF interworking Intuitive Routing Routing based on advanced criteria: Capabilities of the destination Availability of the destination Cost effectiveness and profitability of the destination Performance & quality of the destination

GENBAND S3 - THE INTELLIGENT SBC

The GENBAND S3 is a new generation of Session Border Controller. GENBANDs Intelligent SBC reduces compexity and simplifies the network edge by securely managing, routing, and controlling real-time voice and multimedia sessions across fixed, wireless and enterprise IP networks. Through the combination of adaptive security, insightful policy enforcement, -any-to-any interworking, and advanced session routing capabilities, the S3 brings advanced level of intelligence to IP network borders for deploying IP Interconnect, IPX, Hosted Unified Communications, SIP Business Trunking, consumer access, VoLTE and Rich Communications Suite (RCS) applications across NGN and IMS networks.

MULTI-DIMENSION ADAPTABILITY
Todays SBCs are often stand-alone platforms but as networks become more complex, integration issues will become important when deploying new services. The GENBAND S3 Intelligent SBC provides complete flexibility in architecting network by deploying the same SBC software either as a standalone solution or as a module in fully integrated multi-application platforms. Delivered on a common off the shelf platform (COTS), the S3 SBC provides substantial and measurable deployment benefits. This ensures that GENBAND can rapidly adopt new computing and networking technologies, providing a price/performance ratio that leads the industry. Combining the benefits of COTS hardware, a software-centric

SMART MANAGEMENT
Accompanying the S3 is the market leading GENView RSM which provides a SMART management solution that is specifically designed to monitor, analyze, report, and enforce network wide quality and performance at the network borders. While S3 ensures a secure and robust interoperable IP border, the RSM provides visibility into the traffic that traverses the network edge and adds the analytical capabilities to dynamically modify call-routing behavior based on a combination of business policies, network QoS and subscriber usage patterns. Delivering Holistic Visibility and Dynamic Adaptation

Quality / QoS Monitoring providing visibility into how the network is delivering service Comprehensive Reporting on historic and real-time performance of the network Business Reporting providing visibility into which routes are most or least profitable Adaptive call routing - taking real-time inputs and re-shaping routing policies to ensure network quality targets are met Advanced call diagnostic - enabling views into sessions that may straddle multiple SBCs. architecture, and deployment flexibility, the GENBAND S3 SBC addresses a wide-range of performance needs critical to carriers and wireless operators, of all sizes. The S3 is available as a best-of-breed carrier-grade, standalone SBC on a family of rack mount servers or as part of the integrated, award-winning ATCA-based GENBAND IP Unified Services (GENiUS) Platform. The S3 SBC leverages common software across all versions of target hardware options, offering deployment flexibility and the ability to seamlessly grow their networks as needed.

By providing a simplified web based provisioning interface with simple drop down menus, configuration templates for vendor specific profiles, and solution oriented configuration the RSM offers faster deployment of services and avoids costly operator errors.
