GENERAL PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS: Throughout pattern the begining ch does not counts as a stitch. Number in ( ) indicates total number of stitches. This pattern is worked in the round. At the end of each round join the round with a slip st in the first st of the round (ignoring the starting ch). Begin each new round in the first st of the previous round (the same st you joined in and then worked your begining ch from) Pattern is worked from the waist down.

Ch, 48 Join your ch strand into a loop with a slip st in the first ch. Be careful not to twist the ch strand R1: Ch2, dc in each ch (48) (see joining instructions above) R2-10: Ch2, dc in each st (48) Begining right leg: R11: Ch2, dc in the first 24 sts, reach across opening and join with sl st to 1 st of this round R12 19: Ch2, dc in each st (24) R20: ch1, * sc in the next 4 sts, sc2tog * - repeat * to * 4 times (20) R21-22: ch1, sc each st (20) ~ join last round and fasten off ~ Begining left leg: Lay pants down with waist towards you and the completed pant leg on the right. Join yarn in the first unworked st in the crotch of the left leg opening. This should be the first unworked st to the left of the last st in the first round of the right leg. Leave a long tail to sew up the crotch. Follow rounds 11-22 to complete the left leg. Sew up the crotch and weave in the ends.

Belt: Make a chain of 150. Weave in and out out of first row of sts for the belt. Resizing: To make these pants bigger you simply need to start with a longer chain and make the legs longer. Make sure you use an even number as you need to divide it in 2 for the legs. Add more rows to make the legs longer. If you need measurements for baby sizes doing a google search will get you lots of resources. For a daiper cover, stop after the first leg row. For shorts make the legs 3 or 4 rows, for capris make the legs 5 or 6 rows long. You could add suspenders, or a front bib and suspenders for overalls. You could add butt ruffles or sew on butt pockets. Oh, how about a little old fashioned trap door on the butt! These would be really cute for a girl if you leave off the last three leg rows and adda scalloped edge instead. You could make bell-bottoms be increaseing in the inner and outer seam area of the bottom of the legs. The choices are endless! Have fun!!!
