Concert for a Cause

It is amazing how some people possess immense kindness in their hearts, and that they would go to great lengths to send help halfway across the globe, to those who need it the most. A concert for a cause was held in a quaint town in the Alps called Pigniu. This awesome initiative was organized by Patrick Casanova, a brother of one of PEs former students. Despite a hectic schedule, he and his students gave up their free time to practice and make sure that the concert would be a success. They were able to raise a hefty amount that was used to help the residents of San Isidro Baybay in Tibiao, Antique whose houses were badly damaged and sources of income badly affected when the super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) hit the Philippines last November 8, 2013.

BEIS celebrating Christmas with San Isidro Kids

A Heartfelt Appreciation to the Modern Samaritans

By: Jing Olid-Melendez A month after the super typhoon wrecked havoc in The Philippines, most places started picking up the pieces and starting anew although there are areas where recovery is still a long way off. Much of this healing; physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially, wouldnt have been possible if not for the help and support coming from the hearts and pockets of our PE friends and family from all over the world. Paradise English students have selflessly given donations and encouraged their families and friends to help the unfortunate typhoon victims get the basic necessities they needed to survive after the catastrophic typhoon on Panay Island, Leyte and Samar. To those who extended their help in our efforts in organizing the relief operations/fund drive, our heartfelt gratitude to all of you. Maraming maraming salamat po! (Thank you very very much!)

P.E.s Very Own Santa Claus

Teacher Andrie Ceballos unveils Claus Bauers psyche

On most mornings at approximately 8:30, an all too familiar voice rings in the distance, breaking into a hearty laugh, and then bursting into vibrant greetings of either Good Morning! or Hows it going? From the schools lower level and up the steps leading to the P.E. office, everyone knows who is on his way to work. We, at Paradise English need not wait for the Christmas holidays to see Santa Claus. Claus Bauer, the school president and CEO is a man with a pure heart.

The moving force behind the PE Team, a true leader who allows us to develop our mettle by providing us the opportunities to think and be creative. Gives us room to make mistakes and learn from them. There are times when he lets us bite more than we can chew, only to sigh in relief that he is there to catch us when we fall. He sees us when were sleeping (lagging in our work), he knows when were awake (delivering our best), he knows when we are bad (getting off track) or good (scoring high evaluation points). You bet we want to be good for goodness sake! His kindness and generosity extend not only to his employees. Reaching out to many more beyond the schools walls, he helped build several local Boracay communities through his Boracay Fund Foundation. Right after Typhoon Haiyan, he led rebuilding efforts in Tibiao, Antique. He organized English language learning programs for Boracay in-school and out-of-school youth, and organized fund-raising programs to help cause-oriented missions on and off the island.

Industrial Technology Grad Carves Her Niche in Teaching

Teacher Jing probes why Teacher Ted shifted gears in her career

The amiable Tedlyn Duran or simply nicknamed Ted, is a native of Banga, Aklan and the eldest among six siblings. Before joining the PE Boracay team, Ted held several key positions in sales, marketing and accounting in various companies based mainly in Kalibo. So how did a graduate of BS Industrial Technology, major in Drafting end up being an English Tutor? It could be because in my previous jobs, I always found myself doing tasks related to customer service, and feeling greatly fulfilled providing information and imparting knowledge to others. I like talking to different types of people. I think teaching is really my calling. In fact, while holding down full-time jobs, Ted managed to find time to tutor English to Japanese students online through a work-from-home agency. She enjoyed this so much were it not for a poor Internet connection. When PE hired her, she felt like the proverbial turtle thrown into the sea. Ted appreciates having a regular weekday work schedule at PE. The main perks of being a 1 to 1 tutor include having weekends all to herself; being able to meet and talk to people from different parts of the world; and continuously learning about so many things. Ted is likewise grateful that being employed allows her to help defray her siblings school expenses. 3
