Flushing

The 21st Century Answer to Your Water Distribution System Flushing and Conservation Needs
The standard NO-DES unit can operate at up to 1700 gpm, based on the pumps maximum output, length of hose, and main being flushed. This makes it possible to flush mains up to 14" in diameter at 3 ft/sec velocity, and 12" mains at the typically desired 5 ft/sec velocity. The NO-DES unit utilizes two filter vessels. The first filter vessel is a roughing filter, which uses 12 filter bags rated at 1 or 5 microns, to remove the majority of particulates. The second vessel is a polishing filter, which uses 12 filter cartridges rated at 1 micron absolute or 1 micron absolute bags.

In addition, it is possible for two NO-DES units to be hooked up in parallel for enhanced flushing capacity for larger water mains. We offer four basic models: The NO-DES Gooseneck Trailer System, 150 psi max. The NO-DES Gooseneck Trailer System, 275 psi max. The NO-DES Truck System, 150 psi max. The NO-DES System

"The only water distribution system flushing method that improves water quality, eliminates NPDES issues, and conserves water. This will increase customer confidence and establish you as a leader in the industry.

How The NO-DES System Works

The NO-DES method and process for flushing water distribution systems uses proven technology in an entirely new way. In doing so, NO-DES effectively eliminates the wasting of our most valuable and precious resource water. Additionally, NPDES issues disappear and flushing costs are reduced! Instead of water flowing out of fire hydrants and running to waste - while your customers watch in horror and anger - the NO-DES unit filters and re-circulates the water inside the water distribution system. The NO-DES method is simple. A NO-DES unit is parked between two fire hydrants (typically 300-700 apart). A 5 inch diameter fire hose is connected from one hydrant to the inlet side of the NO-DES unit. A similar hose is connected from the other hydrant to the outlet side of the unit (see illustration on previous page). This creates a temporary above-ground loop in the water distribution system. A pump on the NO-DES unit then circulates water through the loop at the exact desired flushing velocity (typically 3-5 feet per second). As it circulates through this loop, the water passes through the NODES unit filters, which remove the particulate matter that has been intentionally stirred up. Because there are no pressure differentials created by the NO-DES pump, no valving is required to isolate the section being flushed. This results in significant time and cost savings. If desired, the NO-DES unit can add disinfectant during the process to further improve water quality. The result is improved water quality, increased disinfectant residuals, and the conservation of two vital natural resources water and the energy it took to produce and pump it. The standard NO-DES unit was specifically designed to fit on a 20 foot gooseneck trailer or on a truck chassis with a 20 foot bed. The truck unit requires no special drivers licensing of employees. Instead of requiring four to six employees, as is typical of flushing crews using existing, wasteful methods, the NO-DES unit requires only two (or three if desired).
