y husband 4alg"yn and had spent #hristmas "ith some of the family in 7rovence in the $outh of 6rance, and had decided to leave early and meander slo"ly bac) to 7aris by ta)ing "normal" roads and not the motor"ay. t ta)es much longer, but is so much more beautiful, and "e )ne" "e "ould find a small hotel in an "off the beaten trac)" place to spend a night on the "ay. $o there "e "ere in the middle of no"here, *ust my husband and , appreciating the beauty of 6rance, reflecting on the good #hristmas "e had celebrated, "hen my gall bladder started to bother me2 had already seen a specialist at home because it had been causing minor problems for some time, but the doctor had said that it "asn't urgent, and "e had prayed for healing and "ere e8pecting the stones )ne" had to be dissolved a"ay by the Holy $pirit2 5hen the pain started, our first reaction "as to pray, but as the evening "ore on "e had to admit that "e needed a doctor. -he local doctor came out to the hotel, and because of a stri)e of ambulance "or)ers, he too) me to

Ho" often do "e try to pray our "ay out of problems, and ta)e authority over demonic situations, "hen all the time 0od is saying, "<uit blaming the devil2 t's me'0od2" Lord give me more discernment2 do not "ant to argue the theology here, but do "ant to ma)e the point that my family and believe in divine healing. am not one to preach that the Lord uses sic)ness to teach us things. thin) it happens often, but it is not "hat 0od "ants2 f had been prepared to go on retreat, or to shut myself a"ay "ith Him for three "ee)s, He "ould have taught me these things any"ay2 &ut li)e so many of us, "ant the Lord to bless me, change me, and minister to me "ithout giving Him the time to do "hat as). 5e live in an "instant" "orld and e8pect instant ans"ers to prayer, so sometimes the Lord has to move in unpredictable "ays to give us "hat "e desire, and more important, "hat He desires. o, found myself recovering from an emergency operation to ta)e a"ay my gall bladder, in a hospital bed in the small mountain to"n of Annonay. &ecause of severe pain and a total lac) of energy, often lay unmoving in bed, "ith eyes closed or *ust loo)ing at the "all at the bottom of the bed -and that's "here the visions started2 felt as though the spots on the "all "ere becoming spirals, leaping off the "all and moving to"ards other spirals, *oining them and then rushing off out of sight. -here "ere many different colors, even though the "all "as *ust a dull grey "ith pale blue spots. 5hat sa" made me thin) of modern #hristmas tree lights "ith different programs for flashing and colors, al"ays changing direction, color, and se9uence2 blamed the morphine that "as ta)ing, and each time spo)e to my husband on the phone, as)ed him to get people to pray that the hallucinations "ould stop because didn't li)e them at all. >-his "as another case of not

Learning to Laugh
hen had no energy to move, *ust lay "ith eyes closed and prayed in silence, or "atched the never-ending visions on the "all at the bottom of the bed. .nce sa" hundreds of eyes, but it "asn't at all scary as it might be in a film. "as a"are that they "ere all different species, and )ne" by loo)ing at them "hich animal they "ere. marveled at the thousands of different "ays the Lord had designed and redesigned the same thing2 Ho"ever there "as one pair of eyes "hich )ept coming into the vision again and again, and )ne" they "ere lion's eyes. -hey "ere so beautiful, and soft and strong, and seemed to hold all the character of the lion. as)ed the Lord "hy they )ept coming bac) "hen all the others )ept changing, and He replied that He "anted me to thin) about the Lion of Judah. $o did. -hat meant thin)ing of victory, and never doubted that He "ould bring me victory in the illness "as suffering at that time. As thought about the Lion of Judah, and all that meant as one of the names of Jesus, it "as as though He, the Lion, came and stood at the side of my bed, and

sang it over and over again, because en*oyed "atching Him perform for me. began to be a"are of ho" little had laughed, and ho" much fun Jesus is, and ho" much fun had missed in my life because of my "serious" attitude to"ard 0od. Jesus, "hen He "al)ed the earth, "as obviously so good to be around, that hundreds of people follo"ed Him "herever He "ent. And 'm sure it "asn't *ust because of the miracles He did, but because He "as fun to be "ith. "as saddened for the years have spent in "serious religion," and regretted the times have resisted fun and laughter because of the 0od thought )ne", but didn't )no" at all2 t's time to lay do"n our false images, and really get to )no" the Jesus of the scriptures, "ho "as obviously a man "ith a sense of humor. -ry reading the gospels and loo)ing for the amusing things that happen, or that Jesus says2 5e are created in 0od's image, and so "e must have His sense of humor some"here hidden in each of us. $atan is the one "ho doesn't have humor in him2 He is also the one "ho "ants to steal and destroy our 0odgiven sense of humor. e'll call the lady in the ne8t bed 4adame 3upont. $he "as not "ell at all, and obviously had a bro)en hip, although never discovered "hether that "as the only reason for her hospital stay. $he "as in her mid-eighties and had terrible bedsores from her restricted movement. 5henever the nurses came to dress her sores, she "ould cry, or sometimes call out to 0od, or sometimes s"ear profusely2 used to pray silently for her, and several times as)ed the Lord to save her and ta)e her home. didn't )no" if she believed in Him, but )ne" that He loved her, so that "as the beginning of my prayers. "Lord )no" you love her and 'm as)ing you to have mercy on her, to save her and to let her die2" $he "as of talian origin, but had had a 6rench husband "ho had died t"enty-five years previously. $he "as the youngest of eight brothers and sisters, and from the little that "e tal)ed, began to understand that she had not had an easy life, as a young child in the mountains in southern

nother day, the Lord too) me to a clearing in a forest in Austria. 5hen "e arrived it "as a party atmosphere'there "as music playing and there "ere "oodland animals mingling "ith the adults and children at an enormous picnic table. didn't mind the animals, but found it strange that they should be there, and felt as though had become part of a fairy story or a 3isney film2 -he Lord said it "as because here, they put their emphasis on a #reator 0od, and that's "hy they "ere outside and "hy the animals "ere a part of the church2 "as not convinced it "as a #hristian church because it all loo)ed a bit "!e" Age" to me, so pressed the Lord for further reassurance. He assured me it "as fine and said, "5atch this." He then "ent and sat at the foot of a cross in the center of the clearing > hadn't noticed the cross before?. And "ithin a fe" seconds, the music had stopped, there "as an a"esome silence, and everyone, including the animals, "ere )neeling around the cross in a large circle.

As "e continued several times slo"ly "al)ing round the church, the chants died a"ay, and an a"esome silence fell, *ust as it had in the Austrian forest, and )ne" that the Lord "as meeting the deepest needs of the people. .ne or t"o fell to their )nees or to their seats but most *ust stayed lost in love and "orship. -he Lord e8plained to me that the chant they had been singing "as simply, "#ome Jesus #ome," and that He had no option but to come because they "ould not go home until He had visited them. -hat's "hen He sho"ed me their picnic bas)ets, "hich "ere all in a bac) room of the church, saying that they had come prepared to stay all day "aiting for Him to arrive in po"er and tangible presence. 5hat a lesson for those of us "ho try to force our church services into one and a half or t"o hour slots on a $unday morning. rom my hospital bed could see nothing but the s)y2 n the long nights used to "atch the passage of the stars or the moon, and began to )no" "hy people are attracted to study astronomy or "rite stories and poems about life on another planet, or "hy they "ould "ant to fly2 6or my part, praised the 0od of the universe for His ama%ing creation, and tried to remember some of the &ible verses )ne" about the heavens, and sang some of the many songs in praise of creation. have 9uestioned the Lord since came home from the hospital, about "hy He should sho" me all these things, and "hy should be so privileged to travel the "orld "ith Him2 n reply, He told me that *ust as any man "ould tell his fiancee about the "or) he does during the day, He "as sho"ing me "hat He is doing. .nce more, *ust in His reply, He "as reminding me of His love for me, and that "e are engaged to be married, and one day soon shall be a part of the "hole church "hich "ill be His bride2 do not believe have e8clusivity on the visions that had, you can have them too. 1ou have to pray for the Lord to spea) to you and reveal Himself to you, and then give Him freedom and time to do it2 must add that believe there is a danger in see)ing voices and visions2 f our hearts are not totally committed to the Lord, the enemy could have an entry point and he is all too ready to cooperate "ith visions and dreams that lead to destruction2 $o my advice is to see) the Lord Himself and have the desire to )no" Him better, and let Him reveal

5here there is no unity in His church, He is bringing unity by melting hard hearts and moving out those "ho refuse to change. 5e need to pray for His "ill to be done in all the places meeting in His name. 7urify 1our church Lord.
