"as born in a small industrial to"n in Lancashire, and "as brought up to go to church on $unday mornings and $unday school in the afternoons. t "as our parish church and part of the #hurch of England. didn't )no" it then, but do no", that "#hurch of England" can include anything from "lo"" to "high2" -hat means there is a "ide spectrum of "ays of "orshipping. $ome are very plain and simple and some are very +oman #atholic in style. -he type of church depends on the traditions and also the preferences of the minister in charge at the time. 4y church "as of the "lo"" variety, "hich meant that they had very little decoration in the form of brass candlestic)s and gold crosses, and the services had a minimum of ritual. -here "as a great emphasis on evangelism, and from time to time there "ere pulpit thumping sermons on being "born again." 4y o"n family didn't agree "ith these outbursts, had a particular ob*ection to the e8pression "being born again," and assured me that it "as sufficient to go to church, say your prayers every evening, and be a "good girl2" -here "as an active youth group, and in spite of the differing ideas bet"een home and church, became an active member >although believe "as too pious at

times and gave my family a hard time by becoming "religious2"? -hrough further education and on into my marriage, continued to be an active member of the local Anglican church, "herever "as living, carrying a certain amount of my religiosity "ith me. Although must say that "as as sincere as )ne" ho" to be. n :DEC the Lord intervened dramatically in the life of our family. 5e then had three children, aged :G, :C, and ;. 5e moved to 6rance "here "e became members of $t. 4ar)'s Anglican church in (ersailles. -here "e met people "ho tal)ed about Jesus as though He sat do"n to supper "ith them, and "e recogni%ed ho" little "e )ne" the Lord personally. .ur relationships "ith him as individuals, as "ell as in the family, have been gro"ing ever since. -han)s must go to $t. 4ar)'s and the many friends "e have from there "ho helped us on our *ourney. 5e had a lot of fun learning together during the :J years "e "ere part of that congregation. n :DDE the Lord pushed us out of the English community "here "e "ere so comfortable, and into the Eglise Eau(ive in &oulogne-&illancourt, "here "e are no" elders. -han)s go to the members there for their patience "ith our stumbling 6rench, and for the "ay they allo" and encourage us to be "ho the Lord has called us to be. also "ant to than) my husband, children and grandchildren, for their love and inspiration. have a friend "ho tal)s to the Lord all the time2 mean really all the time. -hey have conversations li)e have "ith my husband or a neighbor or a friend. He tells her "hat she must "atch on the -.(. and then "ho on the program He "ants her to pray for2 He ta)es her do"n certain streets *ust to sho" her things2 And all of this is in the real "orld, *ust a part of her daily life. $he is a middle aged "ido" and has lived "alone" for many years, so maybe it's easier for her than me. live "ith my husband and together "e have a gift of hospitality, so our house is rarely empty and usually full to overflo"ing "ith people from all over the "orld2 5hat a blessing that is2 And yes, the Lord tal)s to us too, but nevertheless have to confess to a certain amount of *ealousy regarding my friend's closeness "ith the Lord. 4aybe you )no" lots of people li)e that, but don't. And certainly the number of people )no" "ho hear directly from the Lord are increasing, as he e8tends the prophetic voice on the earth, but )no" fe" people "ho hold continual conversations "ith their $avior as my friend

(Psal 3!"#$ 7lease note that am not recommending that you see) voices or visions, but *ust to see) Him and His closeness and let Him deal "ith you as he "ants and reveal himself to you in the "ay he )no"s is best for you. 5ell, He ans"ered this particular desire in a "ay "as not e8pecting at all2 -he result of my prayers "as that got sic), very sic), and had to be hospitali%ed for an emergency operation, far a"ay from home "here no one could visit. As He )ept me hidden a"ay in this "secret place" for three "ee)s, He revealed Himself to me in a "ay could not have imagined. He "al)ed "ith me and tal)ed "ith me and sho"ed me ama%ing things that He is doing all over the "orld. He taught me things had not previously had the time or maybe the inclination to learn. &ut most important of all, He sho"ed me ho" passionately He loves me and ho" desperate He is for me to love Him. feel li)e had the same privilege as 4oses "hen He "as hidden in the cleft of the roc) and the Lord let all his goodness pass in front of Him2 (%&odus 33"1'$ hope that "hat follo"s does not seem irreverent, as though *ust thin) of the Lord as a friend, but in the same "ay that He sho"ed 4oses only His goodness at that particular time, so He hid me a"ay to sho" me His love 'an ama%ing, over"helming, passionate love. t "as a

life changing e8perience, as it "as for 4oses, and many can testify to the ne" level of serenity in my life. have an absolute confidence that the Lord is in control of everything'absolutely everything. 3uring the year "hich follo"ed these e8periences, a lot of people told me that should "rite a boo), but never felt it "as right. !o" feel that it is the time. f it gets into print, then all the 0lory must go to the Lord2

Annonay

y husband 4alg"yn and had spent #hristmas "ith some of the family in 7rovence in the $outh of 6rance, and had decided to leave early and meander slo"ly bac) to 7aris by ta)ing "normal" roads and not the motor"ay. t ta)es much longer, but is so much more beautiful, and "e )ne" "e "ould find a small hotel in an "off the beaten trac)" place to spend a night on the "ay. $o there "e "ere in the middle of no"here, *ust my husband and , appreciating the beauty of 6rance, reflecting on the good #hristmas "e had celebrated, "hen my gall bladder started to bother me2 had already seen a specialist at home because it had been causing minor problems for some time, but the doctor had said that it "asn't urgent, and "e had prayed for healing and "ere e8pecting the stones )ne" had to be dissolved a"ay by the Holy $pirit2 5hen the pain started, our first reaction "as to pray, but as the evening "ore on "e had to admit that "e needed a doctor. -he local doctor came out to the hotel, and because of a stri)e of ambulance "or)ers, he too) me to

the hospital in his o"n car. 4y husband follo"ed up hill and do"n dale, over very icy roads that the doctor obviously )ne" "ell, and conse9uently too) 9uite fast, "hile all the time my husband "as "ondering if he "ould ever be able to find the hotel again2 5e had specially chosen an out of the "ay place2 Any"ay, the end of this part of the story "as that "as admitted to a hospital in a small to"n in the Ardeche, "hich is called Annonay. A beautiful place nestled in the center of several river valleys surrounded by mountains, and famous for *ust one thing'the 4ontgolfier brothers "ho designed the first hot air balloon lived there2 -he doctors in Annonay Hospital tried to calm things do"n in order to send me bac) home to have treatment, but my gall bladder refused, and on my third day there had to have an emergency operation to ta)e a"ay the "hole thing2 -hat "as the first day the Lord really spo)e to me, although, even before He did had been at total peace. 4y husband had returned to 7aris to spend !e" 1ear's "ith the children and grandchildren, )no"ing that "as in the Lord's hands. "as2 Here's "hat He said "hen He first spo)e to me= "!o" Anne, have brought you to this place. -his is Annonay. t's an anonymous place and you too are anonymous here, because "ant to teach you some things." cannot tell you "hether it "as an audible voice or *ust a voice in my spirit, but had no doubt at all that "as hearing Him and it seemed the most natural thing in the "orld2 4alg"yn and thought it "as us that had chosen this out

of the "ay place, but obviously it "as 0od that had done that. !ot only had He chosen it for us, but it loo)ed as though he had named it too, "ith a name that "or)ed as a play on "ords in both English and 6rench2 )ne" that had been hospitali%ed near home, "ould have had lots of visitors and very little rest and certainly no time "ith the Lord li)e "as about to e8perience. Ho" often do "e try to pray our "ay out of problems, and ta)e authority over demonic situations, "hen all the time 0od is saying, "<uit blaming the devil2 t's me'0od2" Lord give me more discernment2 do not "ant to argue the theology here, but do "ant to ma)e the point that my family and believe in divine healing. am not one to preach that the Lord uses sic)ness to teach us things. thin) it happens often, but it is not "hat 0od "ants2 f had been prepared to go on retreat, or to shut myself a"ay "ith Him for three "ee)s, He "ould have taught me these things any"ay2 &ut li)e so many of us, "ant the Lord to bless me, change me, and minister to me "ithout giving Him the time to do "hat as). 5e live in an "instant" "orld and e8pect instant ans"ers to prayer, so sometimes the Lord has to move in unpredictable "ays to give us "hat "e desire, and more important, "hat He desires. o, found myself recovering from an emergency operation to ta)e a"ay my gall bladder, in a hospital bed in the small mountain to"n of Annonay. &ecause of severe pain and a total lac) of energy, often lay unmoving in bed, "ith eyes closed or *ust loo)ing at the "all at the bottom of the bed -and that's "here the visions started2 felt as though the spots on the "all "ere becoming spirals, leaping off the "all and moving to"ards other spirals, *oining them and then rushing off out of sight. -here "ere many different colors, even though the "all "as *ust a dull grey "ith pale blue spots. 5hat sa" made me thin) of modern #hristmas tree lights "ith different programs for flashing and colors, al"ays changing direction, color, and se9uence2 blamed the morphine that "as ta)ing, and each time spo)e to my husband on the phone, as)ed him to get people to pray that the hallucinations "ould stop because didn't li)e them at all. >-his "as another case of not

recogni%ing "hen 0od "as trying to say something. He is so patient "ith me2? t "as as though the air "as full of these spirals continually moving and *oining and separating. Later, began to see other things on the "all, and one day sa" animals of every )ind. -here "ere every sort could imagine and they "ere all rushing in the same direction. ".h2" e8claimed to the Lord, " t's *ust li)e #reation2" "-hat's "hat it is," He replied. "And the spirals you see are the 3!A." $uddenly understood. already )ne" that 3!A could be represented by strips of information, a bit li)e on a computer tape, and here, "hat "as seeing "ere not hallucinations at all, but the real air through my spiritual eyes. -he air "as, and is, charged "ith the creative po"er of 0od. He had opened my spiritual eyes to see the air full of His creative breath. suddenly had the e8planation for many &ible stories that had *ust thought of as "miracles2" !o" sa" ho" they had happened. 1es they "ere miracles of course, but they happened because of the 3!A present in the air to create and rearrange things at the "ord of the Lord. 5hen 4oses' staff turned into a sna)e and bac) again it "as *ust a "9uic) 3!A change." haven't heard about them?. 5e have our o"n story of "hen the Lord "created" money and left it on our bedroom floor "hen "e "ere staying in a friend's house in reland'but that's not part of this story2 5e also )no" people "ho have received gold teeth or silver fillings at the hand of the Lord. -hese situations happen because the Lord has spo)en a creative "ord into the air "hich is continually charged "ith 3!A2 5hat a revelation it "as to me to )no" that the air is permanently charged "ith the same creative po"er that started the universe, and all it needs is a "ord from the #reator to ma)e something ne"2 .ur 0od is *ust as ready today to create ne" things as He "as in the seven days of 0enesis2 "as so e8cited, and )ne" that )ne" that )ne" that the 5hole $tory is true2 (-ll s)ripture is inspired by 0od.....2 Ti 3"11$ !ot *ust the bits "e li)e2 have al"ays been one "ho believed the "hole &ible, and have never been in agreement "ith some people "ho say that "e cannot be sure of the details before 0enesis ::. 6or me, if 0od said it, it's true. may not understand it all, but can trust Him and )no" His "ord is true2 $o here "as in my hospital bed "here 0od had promised to teach me some things, and the first thing He taught me "as something thought already )ne"2 About the beginning of things, and ho" His creative po"er is still available today. -he reason "e don't see more of it in our churches is because of the lac) of belief2 0od has chosen for the most part to limit Himself to our faith. >4att '"2'222a))ording to your faith will it be done to you2$ 4any #hristians are not convinced of the creation story, and conse9uently, "hether they understand the

situation or not, they are denying the po"er of the #reator 0od, and limiting his freedom to "or) in their o"n lives as "ell as those around them. n His o"n to"n Jesus could do fe" miracles because of their lac) of faith2 >4ar) 1"+$ 5hen my husband and have taught on the si8-day creation story before, "e have had the attitude, "-his is "hat "e believe, you can ta)e it or leave it. t doesn't affect your salvation." And it doesn't2 &ut here, for the first time, reali%ed *ust ho" much "hat personally believe limits "hat 0od can do in my personal life, as "ell as in the lives of those pray for. 5hat a responsibility have2 3o "e really believe in a creative, miracle-"or)ing 0od "ho spo)e the universe into beingL f "e do, and also )no" his love for us demonstrated in Jesus, then there is nothing He cannot do through us and for us and in us2 Absolutely nothing. found myself "ondering if others had seen similar things under the influence of morphine, and felt that probably they had. 0od uses every possible "ay to dra" men to himself. &ut "as saddened by the thought that others had used "hat they had seen to design flashing moving things, and to sell them for personal gain. Ho" often do "e ta)e 0od's creations and use them for "commercial activitiesL" -he visions continued, and felt as though sa" every invention that had ever been designed, and )ne" that every single one of these things had come from a #reator 0od. found myself repenting of the fact that "e had elevated scientists and engineers and not given 0od the 0lory for "hat had really been His ideas in the first place.

He has been the inspiration behind every invention ever thought of. "as struc) by ho" much "e ta)e things for granted, and began to "onder ho" people had dreamed up "hat are no" every day items such as a scre", a hinge, a door handle, a hair brush, etc. began to give praise to the Lord for every good idea that man had ever had. sa" many thingsM boo)s of every description, theater in all its different forms, electrical gadgets, different modes of transport, and )ne" that everything, absolutely everything had originated "ith our #reator 0od, but that man had ta)en 0od's ideas and used them for commercial gain. "as very sad. as)ed for forgiveness for the sins of man, and praised the 0od of #reation for His patience and love and longsuffering2 5e must learn to appreciate afresh the things "hich ma)e our daily lives run smoothly, and to give the than)s and praise for everything to 0od the #reator. And "e must believe the &ible. All of it. came home from the hospital convinced that my husband and should once more teach all that "e )ne" about creation, and encourage people to ma)e the foundation of the "orld part of the foundation of their personal faith. &ut for the moment, "ith no one to preach to, and no energy to preach or teach any"ay, there "as in Annonay, "ith a vie" of the mountains and the rooftops out of my bedroom "indo". shared my room "ith an old lady in her eighties, "ho "as hard of hearing, had poor sight and very fe" visitors, so she rarely interrupted my conversations "ith the Lord, and had the perfect

Learning to Laugh

hen had no energy to move, *ust lay "ith eyes closed and prayed in silence, or "atched the never-ending visions on the "all at the bottom of the bed. .nce sa" hundreds of eyes, but it "asn't at all scary as it might be in a film. "as a"are that they "ere all different species, and )ne" by loo)ing at them "hich animal they "ere. marveled at the thousands of different "ays the Lord had designed and redesigned the same thing2 Ho"ever there "as one pair of eyes "hich )ept coming into the vision again and again, and )ne" they "ere lion's eyes. -hey "ere so beautiful, and soft and strong, and seemed to hold all the character of the lion. as)ed the Lord "hy they )ept coming bac) "hen all the others )ept changing, and He replied that He "anted me to thin) about the Lion of Judah. $o did. -hat meant thin)ing of victory, and never doubted that He "ould bring me victory in the illness "as suffering at that time. As thought about the Lion of Judah, and all that meant as one of the names of Jesus, it "as as though He, the Lion, came and stood at the side of my bed, and

the "hole hospital room "as full of His presence. felt as though if stretched out my hand "ould touch Him, but "as too scared to do that2 f touched Him and discovered that He really "as there, thought "ould completely frea) out. And if didn't touch Him, because He "as only "in my head," maybe "ould be disappointed2 didn't really reali%e all that "as happening at that time, but )ne" something important "as going on and "anted to savor every minute2 6rom that time on for the rest of my hospital stay, the Lion of Judah "as my constant companion. e'll call the lady in the ne8t bed 4adame 3upont. $he "as not "ell at all, and obviously had a bro)en hip, although never discovered "hether that "as the only reason for her hospital stay. $he "as in her mid-eighties and had terrible bedsores from her restricted movement. 5henever the nurses came to dress her sores, she "ould cry, or sometimes call out to 0od, or sometimes s"ear profusely2 used to pray silently for her, and several times as)ed the Lord to save her and ta)e her home. didn't )no" if she believed in Him, but )ne" that He loved her, so that "as the beginning of my prayers. A fe" minutes after had got settled again, call to me, so said "1esL" heard her

A couple of nights later, she suddenly e8claimed, ".h, loo) at that2 t's beautiful, "hat a lovely place2" thought she "as seeing Heaven and "ondered if this "ould be her last moment, but then it turned into one of her fantasies, and she started calling for 4ichael to prepare the suitcases, because they "ere off on holiday2 As my health improved and "as able to sit up and chat, often tal)ed to her and prayed "ith her, and can honestly say that the Lord gave me His love for her. loo) for"ard to meeting her again "hen "e meet in Heaven. believe she died the day left the hospital.

As a child never had any occasion to doubt that "as loved and "anted, and although "ords of affection "ere rarely spo)en, they "ere often felt2 never heard my parents say that they loved me, or each other, but neither did doubt it. As the pastor prayed, body parts began to appear in front of him >in much the same "ay the magician had produced things, but this time there "ere no magic "ords or "and "aving2? -he pastor "ould say, "-here is a heart here," and "hoever in the congregation had need of a ne" heart "ould *ust fall out in the spirit as they received it. &ut the "hole of the rest of the congregation *ust continued praising 0od. -he service continued "ith different body parts appearing= )idneys and lungs, bones and *oints, eyes and ears. n the air over the people could see lots of the 3!A li)e had seen in the first vision of the spirals leaving my bedroom "all, and )ne" it "as present in a concentrated form because of the praise of the people. -he Lord told me that healing is good, but replacement parts are better. n the same "ay, you can repair a car engine, but it's better to have a ne" one than a reconditioned one2 He sho"ed me that one of the )eys to the success in allo"ing the Lord to do creative miracles "as a humble pastor. couldn't see his face, in total contrast to the magician "ho "anted to be )no"n and recogni%ed. Another important factor "as a unity in "orship. !o one "as there to see "hat 0od might do, or even to hear a good sermon, but rather they had gathered "ith the sole intention of praising and "orshipping Him'and that is "hat they "ere doing. !o one "as interested in the miracles happening. n fact, they seemed to not even notice, but "ere totally "lost in "orship, love and praise." Ho" "e need to learn to focus on the Lord and not be distracted by the blessings that others are receiving.

nother day, the Lord too) me to a clearing in a forest in Austria. 5hen "e arrived it "as a party atmosphere'there "as music playing and there "ere "oodland animals mingling "ith the adults and children at an enormous picnic table. didn't mind the animals, but found it strange that they should be there, and felt as though had become part of a fairy story or a 3isney film2 -he Lord said it "as because here, they put their emphasis on a #reator 0od, and that's "hy they "ere outside and "hy the animals "ere a part of the church2 "as not convinced it "as a #hristian church because it all loo)ed a bit "!e" Age" to me, so pressed the Lord for further reassurance. He assured me it "as fine and said, "5atch this." He then "ent and sat at the foot of a cross in the center of the clearing > hadn't noticed the cross before?. And "ithin a fe" seconds, the music had stopped, there "as an a"esome silence, and everyone, including the animals, "ere )neeling around the cross in a large circle.

As "e continued several times slo"ly "al)ing round the church, the chants died a"ay, and an a"esome silence fell, *ust as it had in the Austrian forest, and )ne" that the Lord "as meeting the deepest needs of the people. .ne or t"o fell to their )nees or to their seats but most *ust stayed lost in love and "orship. -he Lord e8plained to me that the chant they had been singing "as simply, "#ome Jesus #ome," and that He had no option but to come because they "ould not go home until He had visited them. -hat's "hen He sho"ed me their picnic bas)ets, "hich "ere all in a bac) room of the church, saying that they had come prepared to stay all day "aiting for Him to arrive in po"er and tangible presence. 5hat a lesson for those of us "ho try to force our church services into one and a half or t"o hour slots on a $unday morning. community "ere all gathered in the main house for "orship. -here "as a middle-aged lady playing a piano, and it felt homely, honest, and good. t reminded me of something from an old co"boy film. -he Lord told me that these people have been protected from a lot of "orldly contamination, and conse9uently haven't learned a lot about spiritual "arfare, but that's .,. He could see that "ould have thought they needed to learn about lots of things they had missed. He e8plained to me that their life "as loo)ing after sheep and cattle, and as a result, they understand about -he 0ood $hepherd "ho loo)s after His sheep. -hey are faithful to Him and e8pect Him to meet their needs, and of course He does2 (Psal 23" 1$ .n another *ourney, another day, "e "ent to $outhern ndia to a "estern style church "hich had been built by missionaries over a hundred years ago. t had a small steeple and long church-style "indo"s, and "as built in grey stone. t loo)ed strange to me in the middle of the huts of the ndian village, and "ould have been much more in place on a village green some"here in the English countryside. rom my hospital bed could see nothing but the s)y2 n the long nights used to "atch the passage of the stars or the moon, and began to )no" "hy people are attracted to study astronomy or "rite stories and poems about life on another planet, or "hy they "ould "ant to fly2 6or my part, praised the 0od of the universe for His ama%ing creation, and tried to remember some of the &ible verses )ne" about the heavens, and sang some of the many songs in praise of creation.
