Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether or not we are living in the last days before the second coming of Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramatic proof that these are the endtimes. The proofs below defy coincidence.
Euphrates River to Be Dried Up
In Revelation 16:12, the Bible predicts that the Euphrates River will be dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the east to invade Israel. This will happen at the time of the battle of Armageddon according to verse 16 of the same chapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle at which time Jesus will return and fight on the side of the nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will establish His kingdom and usher in His one thousand-year reign of peace. On January 13, 1990, the Indianapolis Star carried the headline Turkey Will Cut Off Flow of Euphrates for One Month. The article stated that a huge reservoir had been built by Turkey. While filling up the reservoir, the flow of the Euphrates would be stopped for one month and a concrete plug for a diversion channel built. These things have now been done. With this newly built dam, Turkey has the ability to stop the Euphrates River at will. The conditions for fulfilling this 1,900 year-old prophecy are now in place.
In Revelation 9:15-16, the Bible prophesies that an army of 200 million soldiers will launch a war which would kill the third part of men. Never in the history of the world until our present generation has there been a power on earth that could field 200 million soldiers. However, the late ruler of China, Mao Tse Tung boasted in his diary that he could field an army of 200 million. The CIA World Factbook reports that in the year 2001, it is estimated that China has 200,886,946 men of military age, and this number is growing by 10 million per year.

Worldwide Numbering System Predicted In Revelation 13, the Bible prophesies that a
world dictator will soon rule over a world government. He will cause all people in the earth to receive a number without which they will be unable to buy or sell. We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in a most astonishing way. Nearly every human being in the world now has been assigned a number. In America it is our Social Security number. In the past few years, we have seen this number extended to newborns. A child without a Social Security number cannot be declared as a dependent on an income tax return. We have seen the emergence of electronic money, shopping with credit cards, and many people urging the abolishment of cash. All of these things could not possibly have been fulfilled until this present time. Only after the invention of the computer could such a worldwide numbering system be administered.
Revelation 13:7 and Daniel 7:23 prophesy the establishment of a world government. The term New World Order has become a prevalent phrase in the worlds political culture. Mikhail Gorbachev made the term famous, and Pope John Paul II has referred to it repeatedly. In the September 12, 1990 issue of the Chicago Tribune, our former president George Bush said, Iraq is the first test for the New World Order. He emphatically stated that the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein against the world. The United Nations troops are continually referred to as the multi-national forces. The decision has been made to establish an interdependent community of nations that will rule the world under United Nations authority. The Bible says that this will lead us into a great world government. The formation of this government is at hand.

ow many times did the hearts of the devout of Israel race as they found a leader who they thought might be the Messiah? When things didnt work out, the excitement abated and was replaced by disappointment. How many times can expectation soar and then be dashed onto the rocks of disappointment before disillusionment sets in? The unbelief was almost palpable in the words of one man who heard about Jesus of Nazareth. In his skepticism, he sarcastically asked, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? In spite of the long wait and the many disappointments, the day finally came. The angels did appear singing, Peace on earth, goodwill toward men. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. They did find Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger! The wise men from the east did follow the star until they found Him who was born King of the Jews! What for thousands of years was nothing but an elusive promise finally became a glorious reality!
Bible students around the world. Surely the Second Coming is near! But then things returned to normal. Then came the 1967 Six Day War. If Israel reunifies the city of Jerusalem, the rapture will take place, proclaimed some of the prophecy preachers. Days later, Israel crossed that barbed wire fence and raised the Israeli flag over the Temple Mount for the first time in 2,000 years. Still the rapture didnt happen, and soon things returned to normal. Then Rabin and Arafat shook hands on the lawn of the White House confirming the Oslo Accords. The confirmation of the covenant? Have the final seven years begun? Nonot yet.

WE BELIEVE that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and that He will come again to establish a kingdom that shall never be destroyed (Daniel 2:44). WHAT IS ENDTIME MAGAZINE?

In 1968, Irvin Baxter Jr. discovered the United States and other modern nations in the Bible. He also found the Berlin Wall in the Bible and that one day it was to be torn down, reuniting Germany, and that event would be the catalyst to spark an international movement called the New World Order. These things have now come to pass. Irvin Baxter Jr., a Pentecostal minister, began Endtime Ministries in 1986 when he wrote A Message For The President, a book explaining the major prophecies of the Bible which he had been teaching since 1968. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, prophetic fulfillment accelerated rapidly. The decision was made to launch Endtime. The purpose of the magazine is to explain the prophecies of the Bible and to show that they are now being fulfilled in intricate detail. Government wants it both ways
It seems to me, after hearing about the new Illinois law banning sexual orientation discrimination that the government has crossed the line concerning separation of church and state. Governments are quick to scream about such separation when the church speaks up about laws and other activities in which governments are involved, but they do not hesitate to lay their heavy hands on what the church does. The government has lost both its moral and religious conscience. Is this the beginning of the religious persecution prophesied for the endtime? If this continues, even the Christian citizens of whats known as the greatest free country in the world will be crying Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus. -L. Larlee REPLY: There is no doubt that hate crime legislation will be used to prosecute those unwilling to bow the knee to the New World Order during the great tribulation. Many of us hope this can be headed off here in America so that our nation can be a light in the darknessa harbor of safety in the storm. If we are going to win these battles, we must fight now. I have a question to which I have never heard the answer to regarding the Passover. My question to you is how can you have an unbiased view of prophecy when you have a love for an earthly power/principality. Did not your love for the world and the things in the world cease when you gave all to Jesus? -B.E. Russell REPLY: Jesus said that except we hate father, mother, wife, children and even our own lives, we cannot be His disciples. Yet in another passage of the Bible, we are instructed to love our wives. This is not a contradiction. Jesus was teaching that, if we are forced to choose between our wives or our parents and Him, we should love Him Not sure if I should get a straightjacket out for you or massive doses of drugs. You people are just manipulators, and it is time that the world wakes up to your prank. The images in the Book of Revelation are older than the Bible and can be found in Egypt, Persia and India, so you have no corner on the market but on the pocket of the masses of delusional believers who accept this convoluted nonsense. Strong doubted that such a thing would happen since the same nations presently in the UN would inevitably be included in the new global organization. After studying this, it appeared to me that a lay person or a pastor should shepherd the flock rather than rule the flock, because ruling would lead the flock to believe that he was their master and we have but one master Jesus Christ. I think its wise that we understand what those deeds and doctrines are. Id like to know what you think about this? REPLY: Although I have studied the deeds of the Nicolaitans, Im not sure I have a conclusive answer as to what they are. Some people believe it was the doctrine of laity rule, especially since laitans is part of this name. Sometimes laity rule will move us toward ungodliness because preachers are human beings and are subject to pressures like everyone else. When a church has a strong board that begins to exercise authority over the minister, a laity rule situation develops. The minister no longer feels free to preach what the Bible says. He fears for his job, which is his livelihood. Throughout the years, many have succumbed to those pressures. I think it is possible that the Nicolaitans that believed in immorality did some of those things. I agree that a pastor should be a shepherd. Yet the Bible says in I Titus 3:5: (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) A pastor has to be a strong enough individual who is able to rule, because if he doesnt, Satan will take advantage of his weakness and encroach upon the church. On the other hand, any pastor should be very conscientious and have a shepherds heart and try to never hurt the flock that he pastors. There has to be a balance. In Matthew 23:10, Jesus said, Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. Paul said, You follow me as I follow Christ. As pastors, we should only expect people to follow us, as we follow Christ. four more copies so I can lend them out to people. Everyone needs to read this book. You could have written another 200 pages, but Im glad you kept it short and sweet so all ages can enjoy it. Once you start reading you dont want to put it down. Thank you. Thank you for telling the truth. The Catholic Church has bullied my ancestors, stolen my faith and culture as a Sephardic Jew from the Iberian Peninsula. Keep telling the truth. Felix You teach differently than many prophecy teachers, and people rip into you for it. But I have been noticing lately that many of these teachers are now mixing some of your teaching with theirs. Recently, I saw a popular prophecy teacher speaking on the lion with the eagles wings being Great Britain and the U.S., and Germany being the leopard. Keep up the great work. You make sense! Tom G.

Iran accused the United States of trying to disrupt its nuclear negotiations with the European Union by evoking the threat of a military strike. Iran warned Washington it would respond to any unwise measure. Meanwhile, senior Bush administration officials are meeting with other Arab states in the region to coordinate policies in the event action should become warranted. U.S. moves to provoke new war under fire

According to the Korean News Agency, a secret document called measures to let the U.S. forces in South Korea play a regional role was released to the public in South Korea last month. The document classified the crisis in Northeast Asia into low, medium and high phases. It called for putting U.S. troops in South Korea into action, considering North Koreas refusal to scrap its nuclear program as the medium phase, and China launching war with Taiwan as the high phase. The U.S. military said that 26 U.S. Navy FA-18 Hornets were moved to Korea in order to participate in joint training exercises. U.S. Air Force Maj. Edwina M. Walton said the joint training would improve the Navy jets communication capabilities with Air Force jets and allow the pilots to better acquaint themselves with the climate and terrain. The (North) Korean National Peace Committee in a December statement warned that if the U.S. mounts an attack on the Korean Peninsula or China, it would develop into another world war.
Crushing Taiwan independence at any cost

In a bid to make a distinction between Taiwan and China, President Chen Shui-bian is pledging to change the names of all relevant government agencies to Taiwan in two years. We will start this policy first with government agencies and stateowned corporations, he said. Sensing that Taiwan is striding forward to become a sovereign and normal country, Beijing has resorted to publishing a white paper in a lastditch effort to point out that Taiwans authorities under Chen Shui-bian have deliberately challenged the status quo. The document criticizes the attempt to enact a new constitution as effecting Taiwans independence through the formation of a so-called constitutional reform. The white paper goes on to repeat the threat that should the Taiwan authorities go so far as to make a reckless attempt that constitutes a major incident of Taiwan independence, the Chinese people and armed forces will resolutely and thoroughly crush it at any cost. The report also criticized the United States for selling missiles to Taiwan. The white papers release came as Chinas legislature discusses an anti-secession law, seen as a legal means to push Taiwan to unify with the mainland. Taiwan has described
EU ready to arm China

The European Union is lifting its 15-year-old arms embargo on sales to China. Washington is saying that the prospect of its Pacific forces being threatened by advanced European weapons sold to China was unacceptable and that lifting the embargo would lead to restrictions on American cooperation with Europe on defense issues. Britains Foreign Secretary Jack Straw went to Beijing to make clear that Britains long opposition to removing the European embargo from selling arms to China is about to end. Mahmoud Abbas, the newly elected Palestinian Authority president, is appealing to Israel for talks so that we can end, once and for all, the historic conflict between us. Because Palestinian attacks continued, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon ordered all contact cut with Abbas and the P.A. until the terrorists were reined in. However, when Abbas stationed 4,000 security police along the Gaza border to prevent attacks against Israelis, Sharon softened his stance. Palestinian militant factions gave Abbas a verbal commitment to cease violence for about a month giving him a chance to finalize a cease-fire with Israel. Subsequently, Abbas and Sharon agreed to a ceasefire at the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit. On February 20th, the Israeli cabinet voted final approval for Sharons planned withdrawal from Gaza. All settlers are required by law to be out of the stipulated areas by July 20, 2005. Also on February 20th, the cabinet announced the new route of the security fence that Israel is building. Many world leaders believe that this unilateral withdrawal by Israel will lead to the resumption of progress through the Roadmap for Peace.
Russia reveals new missile threat

The Russian governments Rossiyskaya Gazeta daily reported that Russia is fitting its strategic bombers with cruise missiles capable of delivering a massive precision strike thousands of miles away. An unnamed senior air force commander was quoted as saying, We have broken the U.S. monopoly on the use of long-range conventional cruise missiles. This announcement follows months of cryptic statements from President Vladimir Putin and his top generals that Russia was developing a new missile program that was to be a step ahead of Western rivalsincluding any technology developed by the United States.
EU expansion
Newly elected Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu has pledged to get the former communist nation into the European Union. Tariceanu told his parliament that the move would end the transition to a market economy and begin the process of modernizing the country, a process closely linked to joining the European Union. Meanwhile, Viktor Yushchenko, likely to be inaugurated as president of the Ukraine, will begin a push to bring that country into the European Union.

On the one hand. United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan called on both Israelis and Palestinians to fulfill their international obligations. Annan reminded them of the vital importance of exercising maximum restraint and responsibility during the critical period before their (now-completed) January Palestinian presidential elections. On the other hand. The Bush administration has demanded that UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan be held accountable for mismanagement in the oil-for-food program. The program began in December 1996 to allow Iraq to sell oil and purchase civilian goods. UN internal auditors found management lapses in the now-defunct $64 billion program.

EUs future foreign minister Javier Solana has said that the EU and U.S. should have a much more pragmatic relationship. He said that relations between Brussels and Washington should be based on three planks: it should be pragmatic, results-oriented and have an early warning system. Such a system would avoid differences of opinion actually becoming real problems over time, he said. Solanas words come as he carves himself an ever-bigger role in the EU.

n the 12th Century, the revered Jewish sage Maimonides prophesied that, before the return of the Jewish people from exile was completed and before Jerusalem was totally rebuilt, the Jewish Sanhedrin would be reborn. The return of Jews to Israel is not yet complete, the Jewish temple is not yet rebuilt, and on October 13, 2004, the Sanhedrin was reborn. Maimonides also foretold that Elijah would appear before the reinstated Sanhedrin to announce the identity of the Messiah. Will Elijah reappear as Maimonides predicted, or will it be the False Prophet masquerading as Elijah announcing the false messiahthe Antichrist?

Reborn: October 13, 2004

The recent ceremony to reestablish the Sanhedrin was held in the city of Tiberias because that was the location of its disbanding about 1600 years ago. Once the formal reinstitution of the council was completed, it immediately moved to its permanent home in Jerusalem. One of the leaders of the rebirth of the Sanhedrin is Rabbi Yeshai Baavad of Beit El (Bethel). He said that the 71 rabbis on the new council received the special ordination, in accordance with Maimonides rulings, over the past several months. Rabbi Baavad explained that the goal is to have one rabbinic body in Jerusalem that will convene monthly and issue rulings on central issues. This is the need of the generation and of the hour, he said. Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, who heads the Temple Institute in Jerusalem, is one of the participating rabbis. The Temple Institute has been the leading entity in preparing for the future building of the Third Temple and for the reinstitution of temple worship.
Sanhedrin began by Moses?

The Sanhedrin points back to Moses as the source of its authority. In Numbers 11:16-17, God instructed Moses to appoint seventy men of the elders of Israel to share in the responsibilities of leadership for the nation. Since that time, the Sanhedrin has consisted of one leader plus 70 members. The earliest record we have of the Sanhedrin was given by Josephus, who wrote of a political Sanhedrin convened by the Romans in 57 BC. It became the supreme religious body in Israel during the time of the Second Temple. The Sanhedrin is mentioned frequently in the New Testament. It conspired to have Jesus killed by paying one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, thirty pieces of silver for delivering Jesus into its hands. When the Sanhedrin was unable to provide evidence that Jesus had committed a capital crime, false witnesses came forward and accused Him of blasphemy. Because the council was deprived of the ability to condemn criminals to death, Jesus was brought before the Roman governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate, for a decision concerning his fate. The apostles Peter, John, and Paul, along with the first Christian martyr, Stephen, were all brought before the Sanhedrin at one time or another for the crime of preaching the name of Jesus. Sanhedrin visits Temple Mount

In a dramatic but unpublicized move, members of the newly established Sanhedrin ascended the Temple Mount, Judaisms holiest site, on December 6, 2004. The men, many ascending the Temple Mount for the first time, had immersed in mikvaot (ritual baths) that morning, and planned to ascend as a group. Despite prior approval from the Israeli police who oversee entry to the Mount, the officers barred the group from entering the Mount together, and allowed them to visit only in groups of ten. The visit took place on the eve of Hanukah, which celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple.
Role of the Sanhedrin

The Temple Institutes Rabbi Chaim Richman, also a member of the Sanhedrin, hopes the new Sanhedrin will bring about a revolution in Jewish jurisprudence. Declining to discuss exactly what issues are on the Sanhedrins agenda,
Richman said that one of the main long-term goals is to reunify Jewish observance in Israel. The Sanhedrin includes members of Ashkenazi, Sefardi, Hasidic, National-Religious and Hareidi communities. Included in the Sanhedrins discussions so far have been the status of the Temple Mount; rebuilding the Temple and the Altar; restoration of the Passover Sacrifice; restoration of the Davidic monarchy and the return of the Tribes of Israel! We can make a real difference, Rabbi Richman said. Many cardinal issues are on the public agenda, and our body which is totally based on Torah, even down to its rules and regulations is naturally geared to deal with them. [Included are] issues such as agunot (estranged women whose husbands refuse to give them a divorce), abortions, traffic safety, economic issues, education, and so much more. Not only are we commanded to establish the Sanhedrin, Richman stated, but this seems to be the perfect time to do soa time of Divine will. On the one hand, there is a spiritual void in the establishment, and on the other hand, there is a real thirst among the public for spirituality and guidance. The rabbis were asked to prepare topics they thought the Sanhedrin should deal with, and a fascinating array of topics was produced. In addition to those mentioned above by Rabbi Richman, the list included such issues as: * uniform kosher certification * the precise length of the biblical cubit (with ramifications on many issues, including the location of the altar on the Temple Mount) * assisting Anousim from Spain and Portugal and others whose ancestors were forced to convert to Christianity * lost Jewish tribes from other parts of the world * an ethical code for Israels army (as opposed to the present one, which is based largely on secular sources) * the establishment of regional small Sanhedrins * the long-missing blue color needed to create certain items for the temple Though a lecture on renewing the

Various opinions were put forth, including some by those opposed to the renewal of the Passover offering until the exact location of the Temple altar is determined through prophecy. is where the Dome of the Rock is presently located. Those holding this view contend that the Ark of the Covenant actually sat on the large rock that projects up through the floor of the Muslim shrine. Other scholars contended that the First and Second Temples stood north of the Dome of the Rock. They believe that the small cupola located there, called the Dome of the Spirits, marks the original site of the holiest of holies. The attractiveness of this position to many is that the temple could be built without triggering the political earthquake that would be produced by tearing down the Dome of the Rock. Almost all observers believe that tearing down the Dome, which has stood on the site since 690 AD, would ignite a world war. After hearing the different opinions, a subcommittee was appointed that would take everything presented under advisement. It was determined that, after hearing the report of the subcommittee, the Sanhedrin would then make the final judgment as to where the Third Temple should be built.
Where should Third Temple be built?

The Sanhedrins February meeting was devoted to discussing the proper location for the rebuilding of Israels temple on the Temple Mount. Two main opinions were presented by experts speaking on the subject. Some held that the true temple site

The rebuilding of the temple on the Temple Mount for the times just ahead was prophesied in scripture around 2,000 years ago. It was specifically foretold in II Thessalonians 2:3-4 and in Revelation 11:1-2. Both of these prophecies place the rebuilding around the time of the Antichrist. Because of Yasser Arafats death and the new peace initiatives that are making progress as a result, the Roadmap for Peace, which addresses the status of the Temple Mount, appears to be back on track. The vessels and utensils needed for the renewal of temple worship have now been completed. Now, the Sanhedrin is reestablished and is studying where to build the Third Temple, where to build the altar, and when the Passover sacrifices should be resumed. All of these things have a direct bearing on the prophecies of the endtime and the prophesied building of the Third Temple. Can the Antichrist, the mark of the beast and the Second e Coming of Jesus be far behind?

Maurice Strong was chosen by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to be the Under-Secretary-General for UN Reform, charged with reshaping the UN to make it more able to preside over global affairs in the 21st Century. He is also Annans personal envoy to North Korea and the brewing nuclear stand-off occurring there. Endtime caught up with Dr. Strong in October at his home in Toronto, Canada. Here is Part 1 of a three-part series.
Maurice: Well, were hoping that seat will not get any hotter. Eddie: Do you have a direct line to Kim Jong-II? Maurice: Well, not a direct line, no, but I have very frequent communication with his officials. I go to Pyongyang from time to time. I am in constant touch with them and the other key actors, the United States, of course, South Korea, China, Russia and Japan. Irvin: Are you involved when the six-party talks are taking place? Maurice: We are not involved, in the sense that we are not at the table. We are not one of the parties. But we are very strongly involved in supporting those talks and look at them as the most hopeful means of negotiating a peaceful settlement of this dispute. Irvin: Its being said that North
Irvin: You have been a leader in UN reform for some time. Many people believe that the United Nations has become outdated since it was put together in 1945. Some 60 years later, what reforms have been made as a result of your efforts and the efforts of others, and what reforms are envisioned for the future? Maurice: One of the first things that Secretary-General Kofi Annan did when he came to that post was to institute a process of reform. He asked me to be the instrument for leading that process, but as you quite rightly pointed out it involved a lot of other people. Under the UN Charter, the Secretary-General has extensive powers as the chief administrative or executive officer. He came up with a program in which some 32 different programs or departments were consolidated into four executive decision-making groups. There is substantial reduction, something like 30% of administrative costs, the savings of which went into a special fund for developing countries. The organization was streamlined significantly. improve the actual capacity of the United Nations to perform, but they did not attack those broader issues, which only the members themselves, the owners of the United Nations, can undertake in that respect during the reform program. [Annan] made many recommendations, more basic reforms our governments could undertake, and while the governments have considered those, very few have actually been adopted. Ultimately, the Secretary-General can only recommend in those fundamental areas. Like, for example, reform of the Security Council. As you rightly point out, the Security Council is one of the areas that reflect the geopolitics of the world that immerged from WWII rather than the geopolitics of today, and despite the fact that many have called for it, reform of the Security Council has not yet been achieved. Irvin: I know that the debate over the UN Security Council opened the 59th General Assembly and has been ongoing. I read a few of those speeches and noticed that speakers were calling for reform of the Security Council. You have your fingers on the pulse of this. How soon do you expect to actually see reform of the UN Security Council? Maurice: Reform is long overdue. The danger here is that, if reform is not affected to ensure that the Security Council more fully reflects the structure of power in todays world, then it will gradually be bypassed and lose its relevance. This would be a loss to the entire world because the Security Council performs some functions that are absolutely indispensable to world peace and security. The problem is that those who feel their own powers and prerogatives may be diluted by reform are resisting change. Eddie: Would you say that the U.S. might be one of the chief offenders? I know thats a politically incorrect question to ask. Maurice: No, I think that the U.S. has indeed been strongly urging reform. Of course other countries urge reform as well, and yet have not yet been able to agree on a formula that they can accept. So, its not just a principle of reform. Most countries accept the need for reform. The real problem is that, while there has been a general agreement that reform is necessary, the will to actually agree on the nature of those reforms has simply not been there. The Iraq situation, for example, makes it clear that such reform is necessary. There are so many important nations in the world that should be represented in this forum but are not. After all, the five permanent members of the Security Council, the ones that have permanent seats and veto power, are all important countries today; but they exclude some of the other important countries. For example, the developing world today has over 80 percent of the worlds people and only has one seat out of the five on the Security CouncilChina. And China is more than just an ordinary developing country. It is an important power in itself and deserves such a seat. But for other powers, such as Japan and Germany, to be excluded is another weakening of the influence and credibility of the Security Council. Most members will agree with this in principle, but not in the specifics needed to actually achieve reform. Irvin: Is that because to reform is inevitably going to dilute their power on the Security Council in one way or another? Maurice: Yes, I think that is certainly one of the motivations. Another motivation for those who agree that the Security Council should be expanded to make it more representative of todays world is that they do not always agree on who the other members should be. For example, Italyan important country, yes, but not a truly great power today, resists the idea that Germany should become a member. Not because it doesnt like Germany Germany and Italy are part of the European Unionbut because it believes that the representation of Europe should be more based on the European Union than on simply electing one more European country. Others point out that you already have France and Great Britain there, so if you add Germany, you would have three European powers. Yet Europe, in broad overall terms, should not be, according to most, entitled to three seats on the Security Council. Eddie: Isnt it all about the veto power? When does majority carry the day? Maurice: Its not all about the veto power. Majority carries the day when no member with a veto votes against it because a vote against by such a party constitutes a veto. So, a majority vote carries the day, except when it is accompanied by a veto. Irvin: I noticed under President Bill Clinton, who was considered a friend of the UN, the United States was continually lagging behind in its contributions. Then President Bush came in and paid up everything, yet he is considered an enemy of the UN. Which one was really a friend and which one was an enemy? Maurice: I dont think its a question of friends or enemies. I think the United States has always been the greatest friend and supporter of the UN. But under any administration there have always been differences. The arrears of the United States did not start with the Clinton administration and neither did the friendship with the UN. After all, the U.S. was the primary power that created the UN. But the U.S., as the worlds only superpower today, has both special interests in and for the UN. At the same time there are lots of occasions where its tendency and temptation is to act unilaterally when they find it difficult to get the kind of agreement required for UN action. Theres always a tension between the worlds greatest power and the rest of the powers as represented by the UN. After all, the UN is like Congress, like a parliament. It has no power of its own. Its simply a forum in which the nations of the world try to do things collectively rather than unilaterally, and unless you can get agreement, obviously, it cannot carry out its actions. Thats something that most people dont understand. They

think that the UN can act independently. Why doesnt the UN do this? Why doesnt the UN do that? Well, the UN can only do what its members, on a case-by-case basis, agree that it should do. I r v i n : Id like to pause here a moment to make sure everyone understands that the real power at the United Nations does reside in the Security Council. They can make decisions and pass resolutions that would place a nation under economic sanctions, and can actually make a decision to invade a nation. Were discussing the Security Council because it is such an important organism. In it, certain nations have veto power that can thwart the will of 190 nations. There is a tremendous debate right now as to whether the world should be run multilaterally or unilaterally. In one of the presidential debates John Kerry said that you have to pass the global test in order to decide what to do. President Bush disagreed. In your judgment, Dr. Strong, when will we see reform of the UN Security Council? Is it within a year or two or three? M a u r i c e : I think it cannot be delayed much longer otherwise the relevance and the effectiveness of the Security Council will be eroded and there will be a tendency to go around it, not to use it. Decisions on important situations that threaten world security will be made outside the UN where it is very difficult to reach and enforce agreements. Irvin: A proposal has been made to allow a Security Council veto to be overridden by a two-thirds vote of the General Assembly. Is this proposal good or bad? Maurice: It goes to a situation that other governments carry out at the national level. In the U.S. government, for example, a presidential veto can be overridden by Congress by a two-thirds vote. The principle is certainly accepted as valid by many nations. In that sense it obviously needs consideration. Certainly at the global level it would make sense to

There are two kinds of situations in which a veto is used: those that may directly and imminently threaten the security of a nation and those that may directly or indirectly affect their interests. It is conceivable that there could be conditions under which an override could be used that would restrict its use to certain conditions that do not affect the immediate threats to security. Irvin: Does this have any chance of passing? Maurice: I dont think it will pass in isolation. Any such reforms will have to be undertaken as part of a more general reform, which, for example, provides for the expansion of the Security Councilfor the election of new permanent members. That, of course, is a very controversial matter: how big can and should the Security Council be without losing its effectiveness? Eddie: Is there a need for the formation of a parallel organization to the UN that truly reflects todays world? The UN reflects a postWWII alignment and, as you said, thats not the world we have today. Is there a need to keep the UN alive but shift the real power over to another organization that is reflective of the world today? Maurice: The trouble with that is the United Nations comprises virtually all the nations of the world. If reform of the United Nations is difficult, creating a new organization would involve exactly the same countries and therefore consist of the same problems. I dont think this is the answer. Reinventing and revitalizing the organization we have is far more likely to succeed than starting from square one or forming a new organization with the same membership and the same challenges. e

or the last 2,500 years, Bible students have been mesmerized by the prophecy of Daniel 9:27, which predicts the climactic sevenyear period immediately preceding Armageddon. Thousands of prophecy scholars have asked themselves: Is it near? Could it begin this year? And for the last 2,500 years the answer has been the same. Not this year. Its not time yet. However, those of us who understand the inerrancy of scripture know that someday that answer will change. The time will come when all of the required events will line up, and the final seven years will begin. Now for the big question: Could 2005 be that year? The pieces of the prophetic puzzle have never been closer to being in place. Technology is obviously preparing society for the implementation of the mark of the beast. The conditions of Sodom and Gomorrah are being replicated by rampant homosexuality and the advent of same-sex marriage. The worlds firstever world court has recently been established to enforce the edicts of the emerging world government. And most importantly, events in Israel seem to be aligned to fulfill the prophesied conditions of the confirmation of the covenant, which begins the final seven years.

This confirmation of the covenant will apparently open the way for the sharing of the Temple Mount and the building of Israels Third Temple. Once the temple is completed, the offering of daily animal sacrifices will be resumed. Animal sacrifices will not be tolerated for long by animal rights activists and the world community. They will be stopped by the Antichrist, who will stand in the temple claiming to be God.
All of these things will come to pass before the final three and onehalf years begin.
The present situation

Remember that the confirmation of the covenant will be an international agreement concerning the status of the Holy Land and the Temple Mount. come to peace terms on their own. On the initiative of then U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, a new alliance was formed called the Quartet. It was composed of the U.S., the EU, the Russian Federation and the UN. By including all the great powers plus the UN (representing every nation on earth), the Quartet truly is a world alliance. The mission of the Quartet was to craft a Middle East peace plan, which would then be presented to both sides. It was anticipated that neither Palestinians nor Israelis would dare reject a peace plan that had the support of the entire world community. The plan, called the Roadmap for Peace, was presented to both sides in April of 2003. It dealt with the boundaries of the Holy Land and the status of Jerusalem, and was accepted in June 2003 at a ceremony presided over by President Bush. Hopes were high, but nothing happened. The first step in the Roadmap called for Palestinians to disarm the terrorists and dismantle terrorist entities such as Hamas and the Islamic Jihad. Arafat refused to allow this first step to be taken. Consequently, the Roadmap sat dead in the water from June 2003 to November 2004. Arafats death changed everything. Englands Tony Blair expressed the opinion that the roadblock to the Roadmap had been removed. President Bush boldly expressed his belief that peace in the Middle East would be achieved during his second term. On January 9, 2005, Palestinian elections were held. Mahmoud Abbas received 62% of the vote, becoming the newly elected Palestinian president. The question in everyones mind was: Would Abbas have the strength and the courage to reign in the militants? If not, the peace process would be dead before it could be revived. Abbas surprised everyone by deploying over 4,000 Palestinian policemen along the Gaza border. It was reported that they were given orders to fire upon any Palestinians that attempted attacks on Israel. The ball was back in Israels court. that Israel did not have a peace partner. Therefore, he announced a plan to unilaterally withdraw from areas that would obviously not be retained by Israel in a final settlement. He asserted that Israelis and Palestinians simply could not live together peacefully at this time. Consequently, Israel decided to build a security fence that would keep Israelis on one side, while Palestinians remained on the other. Abbas thinks Israels Gaza withdrawal will create momentum that will allow the two sides to immediately move final status talks. He thinks secret negotiations should be held away from the glare of media attention, and that total peace could yet be attained in 2005.
Is 2005 a year of destiny?

In Prime Minister Sharons recent speech at the Herzliya Conference, he indicated in no uncertain terms that he views 2005 as an historic year. This is what he said: And in 2005, we have the opportunity for an historic breakthrough in the relations between us and the Palestinians, a breakthrough for which we have waited many years. In order to actualize these opportunities, we must take the initiative. This is the hour, this is the time. This is the national test. Tony Blair believes now is the time for peace in the Middle East. President Bush agrees. Mahmoud Abbas thinks a final agreement can be achieved this year. And Prime Minister Sharon believes 2005 is a year of historic destiny.

Sharons disengagement plan has resulted in the unraveling of his governing coalition and the formation of a new coalition with the Labor Party, which favors the disengagement plan. Despite bitter infighting among Israels political factions, the Knesset has now voted to approve the plan. It is anticipated that Israels withdrawal will begin by May. The United States and the international community see the disengagement as a big step that could jumpstart the Roadmap for Peace. The Israeli settlers see it as the ultimate compromiseforsaking part of the land promised to Israel in the Bible. Palestinian President Mahmoud
So what will happen?

We know from the Bibles prophecies that somehow we move from where we are now to a shared Temple Mount with a Jewish temple built on it. It appears that this arrangement will be supervised by UN forces. Can present developments possibly lead us into these prophetic fulfillments? It appears so. If Abbas can convince Hamas and the Islamic Jihad to maintain the ceasefire, then negotiations can continue. The sharing of the Temple Mount will either be a result of negotiations or of unilateral action on the part of the Israelis. If UN troops participate in keeping the peace, then it is most likely that the sharing of the Temple Mount will be a result of a negotiated settlement. The stated goal of all the actions presently being taken in the Palestinian-Israeli situation is to put the Roadmap for Peace back on track. If the Roadmap is successfully reestablished, it is very likely that this will mark the beginning of the final e seven years.

o ask the question is only natural for a catastrophe of such cataclysmic proportions. Over 220,000 people were killed in one day. The carnage either rivaled or exceeded any one-days death toll from any war in history. To compare, the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima killed only 140,000. Instances of natural disasters, terror attacks, wars and rumors of wars always precipitate a deluge of letters and emails to us from students of Bible prophecy and from those who are just plain scared. The obvious question is asked in this case, was December 26ths tsunami in the Bible?
It is easy to jump to conclusions. Recall Y2K. It was to be the mother of all disasters, and most didnt know how to argue against the apocalypse that was obviously coming on January 1, 2000, at 12:01 a.m. There were some who wanted to believe it. For a prophecy-oriented ministry, it was a unique moment in time to capitalize on fear in order to guide a multitude of frightened souls into salvation. However, something was wrong. In all of our studies and research, we could not find Y2K anywhere in the prophecies of the Bible. Conclusion jumping: It was intuitively obvious to the casual observer that Revelation chapter 18 was ful-
filled on September 11th. The proofs were numerous. New York, the worlds financial capital, is where the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies (verse 3). Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning burned with fire (v. 8). They shall see the smoke of her burning, standing afar (v. 9-10). Dust on their heads (v. 19). With violence shall that great city be thrown down (v. 21). Each one of these scriptures presents a staggering case for this prophecys fulfillment. Unfortunately, each has been presented grossly out of context. A simple reading of the entire passage

reveals that such a conclusion is not even in the ballpark. But sometimes people want to believe. Surely you read about what the Quran has to say about 9/11. Witness Quran chapter 9, verse 11: For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace. Close enough to reality for you? It would
be, except that the scripture is an outright fabrication. Others look to the Bible Code to interpret all signs and wonders. The bottom line is that conclusion jumping is dangerous. It is a temptation, and it is the quickest way to flush ones credibility into the abyss of irresponsible scaremongers. So, what about the tsunami? Earthquakes are prophesied in the Bible for the endtime. Was this massive subaquatic 9.0 quake that spawned the tsunami the proverbial it?
Earthquakes in the Bible

To simplify what could be a complex subject, there are two types of earthquakes that will occur in the endtime. The first is spoken of in Matthew 24:6-8: the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. The earthquakes referenced here are precursors to those that will occur when all things wrap up at Armageddon.

Then there is the big one. Several references are made in the Bibles last book to the great earthquake that will occur at Armageddon. It is discussed in Revelation 6:12, 8:5, 11:13, 11:19, and 16:18. It is one event told from different vantage points, a fact proven by comparing the 6th Seal, 7th Trumpet, 7th Vial, Matthew 24:29 and Ezekiel 38:18-22 (see the first lesson of Understanding the EndtimeLevel 3). Since we have not yet reached this point in time, the tsunami did not fulfill any of Revelations earthquakes; rather, it fulfills the former scripture in Matthew 24 cited above. But thats not the end of the story. Revelation 16:18: and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. The islands will move.

The sea and the waves roaring

Ponder Luke 21:25: And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring. This scripture is a direct parallel to Matthew 24:29, which as noted above is a direct parallel to the 6th Seal, 7th Trumpet and 7th Vial the great earthquake at Armageddon. We can now see something we never before stopped to consider that underwater earthquakes bring forth tsunamis. The sea and the waves will be roaring. Taking this realization one step further, we now refocus our attention on a passage that has always seemed mysterious. Its Revelation 12:1516, speaking of a time during the Great Tribulation, meaning before the 6th Seal, 7th Trumpet and 7th Vial: And the serpent

While this event was obviously not fulfilled on December 26, it is easy for us now to imagine how these passages will be fulfilled by Armageddons earthquake.

cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. We have always taken this passage to be symbolic, figurative. Could it be literal? Is it possible that a severe earthquake will occur in the Mediterranean sending a tsunami in the direction of Israel and then a second earthquake along the coast of Israel that creates a chasm large enough to swallow the tsunami wave? Although there is a major fault line along the northern rim of the Mediterranean, at this point this scenario seems too far-fetched to embrace. We are inclined to cling to a metaphorical interpretation of Revelation 12:15-16. And yet For certain, the horrific event of December 26 does cause one to take a fresh look at some of these matters.
The big one is yet to come

Can we assert that the tsunami fulfilled a specific prophecy? The answer is no. There has been a documented dramatic increase in the frequency of earthquakes worldwide in the past 100 years, so in this regard, yes, the tsunami is part of Matthew 24:7s prophecy of earthquakes in various places. The best way to look at this overwhelming calamity, however, is to see it as a minor precursor to the physical shift prophesied to take place during Armageddon. That is when we will see the simultaneous destruction of Rome and the splitting of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem 1,200 miles away. The Bible describes this great earthquake as: such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. It will sweep through the Mediterranean, and undoubtedly other parts of the world, producing tsunamis and other devastation never before seen or imagined. It will be so
vast that it will perhaps fundamentally alter the atmospheric conditions of the planet. The book of Isaiah tells us that, during the post-Armageddon millennium, men will again live to be almost 1,000 years of age, as they did in the days before the flood. Some have theorized that, with the flood, there was a tremendous rearrangement of the earth, resulting in shortened life spans. When these cataclysmic events occur at Armageddon, it appears to reverse this condition, restoring earth to the way it was. While this is conjecture, we do know that something is going to happen whether it is through physical means orchestrated by God or by a purely supernatural occurrence. This world is getting ready for an incredible shaking. It will be best to be on the Lords good side when it happens. Isaiah 24:20 prophesies, The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard. Today it is easier than yesterday to envision how that might e happen.

Noahs Flood & the Tsunami

The once stable tropic environment known as the pre-flood world became the stage for a cataclysmic event. The deep cold of space fell, doing battle with the deep heat released from the underground volcanoes and earthquakes. Compare this dynamic with what we know today about divergent weather patterns. When a cold front meets a warm front the result is bad weather. Well, in Noahs flood bad weather would have been an understatement, for it occurred in extremes and worldwide. Water and ice came crashing down from the heavens meeting the lava and intense heat that arose from beneath the Earths surface. Fast-forward to present day when many living in a tropical paradise found themselves under a veil of water from the unmatched power of a tsunami created by one single earthquake. Over 200,000 lost their lives. Events such as this tsunami tragedy clearly display how this Earth and its features can be changed in a very short timeframe. Events such as these provide invaluable information for creationists, who study the flood of Noahs day. We see all the evidence in the geological world surrounding us, but to see the power of these earthquakes and tsunamis completely verify the teachings of Biblical scientists. Anyone on this planet can see the evidence of what the floods power did on a grand scale about 4,400 years ago, such as carving the Grand Canyon, creating the mountains all over the world, and placing the giant ice caps centered at the magnetic poles. In 1980, Mt. St. Helens provided tremendous proof of the extent of damage, which can be created by an earthquake and a volcano. About 3,000 feet of the mountain was blown from the northern slope, and the Toutle River Canyon was formed in hours. This is just another example showing how quickly these events can occur. The layering and carving found at Mt. St. Helens were created in a matter of days and in some cases just minutes. However, according to evolutionary teaching these types of features are always viewed as having taken hundreds of millions of years to form. One example is the lava dome that sealed the volcano and ended the eruptions. It took five months to form. When evolutionarybased radiometric dating methods were used to date the new lava dome, the results came back reporting the dome to be hundreds of millions of years old. The dates included a tremendous range of time, but none were accurate. water, and massive death to humanity and the plant and animal kingdoms can be measured. Valuable information will no doubt be collected and studied for years. Indeed, all good science will always verify what the Bible says. Thy word is truth, as Jesus states in John 17:17. We have experienced again, 25 years after Mt. St. Helens, another event, which shows on a small scale the effects we see on a larger scale regarding Noahs flood. As a creation scientist, I teach people weekly about Noahs flood and the phenomenal affects it had on this planet. As reported in Nature, The total force released was enough to jolt the entire planet. This shows us how much damage even just a little moving water can do. God not only jolted the planet at the time of the flood, but He totally refashioned it through volcanoes, flooding, hydrologic sorting and falling precipitation. The Bible discusses that at the end of this age the heaven will depart like a scroll, every mountain and island will be moved out of their places and the elements will melt with fervent heat. Although we may not yet be able to fully comprehend what these events entail, we have seen what can quickly happen to our planet by just e one earthquake.

Planning for world government

What would become of the international system the day after the threat of mega-terrorism materialized?At the international level, conventional rules of sovereignty would be abandoned overnight. Stephen D. Krasner On September 18th, 1959, the Soviets unveiled a three-stage proposal for general and complete disarmament, including the complete prohibition of atomic and hydrogen weapons. And later, as this proposal was revised and expanded, a UN standing army was inserted into the texts. In 1961, the United States released its roadmap for a UN military. For all practical purposes, this made-inAmerica proposal was identical to the Soviet plan. Expressed through the U.S. State Departments document, Freedom From War: The United States Program for General and Complete Disarmament in a Peaceful World, the U.S. administration envisioned a time when both superpowers could unite their forces under the UN banner. How much clout would this UN military force be given? According to Freedom From War, international law would proceed to a point where no state would have the military power to challenge the progressively strengthened U.N. Peace Force Moreover, in its Summary, the document stated that one of its major goals was the elimination from national arsenals of all armaments, including all weapons of mass destruction and the means for their delivery, other than those required for a United Nations Peace Force [italics added]. World government advocates, especially World Federalist members, pounced on the idea of general and complete disarmament, and spearheaded the creation of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency an official federal body charged with global disarmament tasks. But hardly before the ink was dry on either Freedom From War or the U.S. Arms Control legislation, the 1962 Cuban missile crisis brought the Bear and Eagle to the brink of a nuclear exchange. While this effectively halted international disarmament plans, the idea of militarily empowering the United Nations never went away. Thomas Schelling, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a celebrated strategist, graphically detailed the real potency of an international army in his mid1960s essay, Strategy: A World Force in Operation, The three main kinds of military action that the force could take against a united country would be pain, conquest, and obstruction. By pain I mean sheer coercive damage. Nuclear or other weapons might be used to inflict civil damage at a rate sufficient to induce the government to change its mind and bend to the will of the international authority. By conquest I mean invasion or occupation sufficient to put the international authority into the role of occupying power. By obstruction I mean military action designed to retard a countrys rearmament, to make it more

Alliances were formed, pacts drawn up and gunboat diplomacy was standard fare. At the United Nations, an emotional Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev pounded his shoe on the table. And in schoolrooms around the world, children were instructed to hide under their desks in the event of a local nuclear strike. For those of us who remember the Cold War, or portions thereof, it was a time of extremes: extreme nervousness and extreme uncertainty. It was also a heady time for world government advocates. As the Soviet Bear and the American Eagle scrapped it out in the war-torn villages of third world countries, the only viable alternative to an eventual all-out nuclear confrontation seemed to lie in the creation of some type of world government system. Hence, in the late 1950s and early 60s, both the USSR and the United States officially devised a series of plans to jointly equip the United Nations with arms while dismantling their own military forces.

This might be done either by selective bombing or by selective invasion and occupation of key facilities. Schelling suggested that this force could acquire citizen hostages, and more... One could go even further and let the force have a monopoly of critical medicines to use for bacterial warfare on a transgressor country. As soon as it starts an epidemic, it sends its medical units in to make sure that no one suffers who cooperates. Those who oppose it military forces, government leaders, or anyone else are without essential vaccines and must decide for themselves whether to stay at large and suffer or to surrender to be cured. Radical ideas? Yes. Even Schelling agreed that these schemes suffered from meanness, and would not be acceptable. But, he explained, the cards should be stacked in favor of the international force Flash forward to the 1990s. The Cold War has ended, and politicians from Washington to Moscow are talking about a new world order the replacement of national anarchy by the global rule of law. Inevitably, a new calling for a UN military force arose. Documents touting the virtues of collective security and a robust United Nations flowed from the offices of the UN Secretary General, U.S. Congressmen, the governments of Canada, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. The UN, we were told, needed teeth. Some, however, believed that the international community should be equipped with more than just bullets and blue helmets. The Henry L. Stimson Center, a Washington D.C. political think-tank with deep connections inside the beltway, released two reports in 1996 advocating that the United Nations be equipped with nuclear weaponry. Ensuring that nations would comply with a global disarmament program, Occasional Paper 31 suggested that, it might be desirable to retain some kind of international nuclear force as a hedge against one or more nations cheating on a disarmament agreementthe outlaw use or possession of nuclear weapons could be deterred or prevented by a nuclear-armed multi-national sheriff...One possibility would be a United Nations nuclear force, a force strong enough to make it pointless for any nation to cheat [George H. Quester, International Safeguards for Eliminating Weapons of Mass Destruction, December 1996]. In a second Occasional Paper titled Phased Nuclear Disarmament and U.S. Defense Policy, it was suggested that the international community could directly authorize certain nations to rebuild previously dismantled nuclear stockpiles in order to bring pressure on outlaw countries. Obviously, this arrangement requires some type of world executive authority. In the January/February 2005 issue of Foreign Policy, Stephen Krasner a distinguished professor of international relations at Stanford University and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations dared to ask the question; What would happen to national sovereignty if terrorists detonated nuclear devices in Washington D.C., New Delhi, Berlin, and Los Angeles? Two developments emerge in Krasners nuclear scenario: First, powerful nations would act on their own in waging preventative wars, no longer seeking UN approval but finding it, perhaps, in entities such as the G8 and NATO. And secondly, as a new political landscape emerged, the United Nations would be transformed or its duties would be transferred to new international organizations, such as a strengthened Community of Democracies. In other words, for a period of time we would likely see a hybrid system. Ultimately, however, the international community would have to enforce its will to guarantee security just what global doctors prescribed in the 1950s and 60s. Krasner reinforces this notion by stating that nations which step out of line would be declared a threat to international peacewould be declared incompetent to govern necessitating that a consortium of major powers would assume executive authority and declare the international legal sovereignty of the occupied territory null and void. Shades of world government? You bet. Consider this truism made by Lester Pearson, former Prime Minister of Canada and architect of NATO; There is a time in an international crisis when all are so frightened of what might happen that they will accept many things that they would not have even contemplated before the crisis [Peace in the Family of Man, p.15] Its not hard to envision that, in the political aftermath of a nuclear attack be it through a single or multiple target strike, perpetrated either by a terrorist group or a rogue nation, the world will clamor for security at the expense of sovereignty. When that time comes, will the international community settle for just bullets and blue helmetsor something e with a bigger bang?

As of December 31, 2004, Wal-Mart is requiring all its vendors to have RFID tagging on all pallets that come across its loading docks.
