A Form is an objective "blueprint" of perfection. The Forms are perfect themselves because they are unchanging.

For example, say we have a triangle drawn on a blackboard. A triangle is a polygon with 3 sides. The triangle as it is on the blackboard is far from perfect. However, it is only the intelligibility of the Form "triangle" that allows us to know the drawing on the chalkboard is a triangle, and the Form "triangle" is perfect and unchanging. It is exactly the same whenever anyone chooses to consider it; however, the time is that of the observer and not of the triangle.

The Circle = Red, because it is the punctum, the point, the heart of the matter, and hearts are red. The center, in Western culture, is the palace of vitality, and vitality is bloody. The Square = Blue, or true blue. the stability of the spatialized consciousness which we have developed since Euclid depends on the square, in a recessive color, as befits the shape that is the foundation, the support of all later shapes and ideas.

J. Harmony
Harmony in visual design means all parts of the visual image relate to and complement each other. Harmony pulls the pieces of a visual image together. Harmony can be achieved through repetition and rhythm. Repetition reemphasizes visual units, connecting parts and creating an area of attention. Rhythm is the flow depicted in a visual. Rhythm helps direct eye movement. Patterns or shapes can help achieve harmony. By repeating patterns in an interesting arrangement, the overall visual image comes together. Philosophers in the 6th century B.C. suggested that the most harmonious (energy saving) geometric shape was a sphere. Imagine raindrops, atoms, soap bubbles etc. Almost everything we see in outer space is spherical: moon, sun, planets, distant stars and such.

Circles, ovals and ellipses tend to project a positive emotional message. Using a circle in a design can suggest community, friendship, love, relationships and unity. Rings have an implication of marriage and partnership, suggesting stability and endurance. Curves on any sort tend to be viewed as feminine in nature.

Straight edged shapes such as squares suggest stability in more practical terms and can also be used to imply balance. Straight lines and precise shapes also impart strength, professionalism and efficiency.
