Its been an uphill battle for the Scotty girls basketball team, but they finally got a victory at home against Harlem this past Saturday evening. Thanks in part to a strong 12-2 first-quarter surge, the Scotties led throughout the entire game and would cling to a precious 42-40 final score over the feisty Wildcats. It was a balanced scoring attack for the Bonnie Lassies with Abbi Kolstad scorring 10 points, Amanda Wolff and Delaney Holzworth 6 points each, Khloe Krumwiede 5, Erika Hartsock 5, Haylee Redfield 5, Megan Rasmusan 2, Leinie Hughes 2 and Lexis Synan 1. The previous evening the Scotties were in Plentywood where they hung tough with the Wildcats before losing 42-31. So the Scotty girls are now 1-7 overall and hopefully the victory over Harlem will be a bit of a confidence booster as they have lost some close ones. But it wont be an easy task as they face Malta here on Thursday. The MEttes are 8-0 on the season. On Saturday the Scotties are in Poplar; the Indians have yet to win a game heading into this week. Then on January 21st is a make-up game at home with Glendive.

Boys 2B Showdown Thursday

The Scotty boys are 8-0. The defending statec champion Malta Mustangs are 7-1. These teams square off at GHS Gymnasium this Thursday night. The Scotties remained perfect on the year by coming from behind and dumping Plentywood 51-38 on Friday and knocking off Harlem 67-47 on Saturday (a deceiving score, the Wildcats were down 48-15 at halftime). The Mustangs are darn-near perfect. Their opening season loss to Havre (44-38) was avenged coming out of the Christmas break as they popped the Blue Ponies 66-58. Definitely the top two teams in the District 2B, Thursdays nights game will put the winner on top of the standings. They meet again in Malta on Valentines Day, but there probably wont be much love shown between these two rivals. The Scotty girls face the MEttes at 6:30 followed by the boys 2B showdown at 8:00. GHS Gym should be rocking this Thursday night be there! Planning ahead, Malta will play host to the Boys and Girls District 2B Tournaments February 20-22. The following weekend, Glasgow gets to host the Boys Northern B Divisional. The Girls Northern B Divisional will be in Conrad March 6-8.
