Whoever stands (in qiym) in Raman out of faith and expectation (of Allhs reward), all his previous sins will be forgiven.
Hadith Reported in Bukhari & Muslim

O Ramadn Nights,
How much do I love thee? Let me count the ways

1.

You Replenish My Soul

Think of the night as the juice that powers your soul. Spiritually, this is the time you get into the zone.

Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Qur'an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed. And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station. [Sratl-Isr: 78-79]

2.

You Make Sleep Ultimately Boring Nows the time to buckle up and go for gold. Allh (swt) says the Muttaqn will be among gardens and springs. And who are the Muttaqn?

They used to sleep but little of the night, And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness [Sratl-Dhriyt: 17-18]

The Prophet (allallhu alayhi wa sallam) said:

The best of prayers, after those prescribed, are those prayed in the depth of the night. [Muslim/Ahmad]

3.

You Light Up My After-Life

We know the bed can be quite inviting and painful to walk away from. Thats exactly why its ultimately so rewarding. Check out how Allh (swt) describes that reward.

They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend. And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do. [Sratl-Sajdah: 16-17]

The Prophet (allallhu alayhi wa sallam) said:

O people! Spread (the greeting of) salm, provide food (to the needy), and pray at night while the people are asleep you would then enter Jannah with peace. [Tirmidhi]

4. You Welcome My Family Too

Team up with a family member to fend off sleep. Strength is in numbers after all. The Prophet (allallhu alayhi wa sallam) said:

7
May Allh have mercy on a man who wakes up at night, prays, and wakes his wife to pray; and if she refuses, he sprinkles water on her face. And may Allh have mercy on a woman who wakes up at night, prays, and wakes her husband to pray; and if he refuses, she sprinkles water on his face. [Abu Dwd]

Key word here is sprinkle not flood.

5. Youre Simply Not of This World

Its well known that the third part of the night is one of the most amazing times to make du. So it serves as a reminder as to how truly out-of-this-world incredibly astonishingly amazing it really is. The Prophet (allallhu alayhi wa sallam) said:
Our Lord (swt) descends every night to the lowest heaven, when only one third of the night has remained. He says, Who would invoke Me, so that I would answer him? Who would ask Me, so that I would give him? Who would seek My forgiveness, so that I would forgive him. [Muslim]

As you know, another similar time is when you break your fast. So make du then that Allh grants you the ability to wake up in the third part of the night.

8 6. You Bring Out the Best in Me

Its the month of Qurn so of course your tongue should also be reciting its words. But what about du and alh? Combine all three! Recite in alh and make du in sujd. The Prophet (allallhu alayhi wa sallam) said:
Whoever prays qiym reciting 10 verses, he will not be recorded among the negligent. Whoever prays qiym reciting 100 verses, he will be recorded among the devout. And whoever prays qiym reciting 1000 verses, he will be recorded among those with multitude of good deeds. [Abu Dwd]

Tips to Manage the Night

Long days and short nights make for quite the tricky Raman, especially for some of us with less than 6 hours of evening. Here are some tips to manage your love for Raman nights despite their short presence.

1.

Month of Power Naps

Youll have to master the power nap for a re-energizing boost throughout your day and night. Immediately after tarw rest for 2-3 hours Wake up an hour before Fajr for 2 (or more) rakahs and sur After Fajr, rest again before heading off to work (if you can, recite a few verses of Qurn even from bed) Rest your body for 20-30 min during your lunch hour. Find a quiet place to lie down and close your eyes. Sleep for 1-2 hours when you return home

A lot of us cant fall asleep quickly enough to take advantage of a 2hour nap. Thats ok. Sometimes all your body needs is the rest and not the sleep.

Lie down, close your eyes, and just relax. That will doze you off quicker than panicking about trying to maximize on your 2 hours.

2.

Drop the Caffeine

Replace caffeine (false energizer) with your energizing power naps. Before tarw, eat foods that are known to rejuvenate: Fruits (apples, kale, bananas, etc) Proteins (eggs, yogurts, fish, beans, etc) Honey Whole grains Ice cold water Ginger tea

3.

Eat Less and

Drink

Water

Eat lighter foods that will replenish, refresh and energize. Dont sleep with a full stomach; eat light so youll be able to wake up again. Drink 2-4 cups of water before bed. Even if your alarm fails you, your bladder wont.

6.

12
Take phones and laptops out of your bedroom so your short sleep isnt interrupted or distracted by the social media world.

8.

Dont Linger in Bed

Once youre awake, its easy to just linger in bed until you gather enough might to get up. Get in the habit to almost pounce off your bed with all the energy of a 2-year old. Thatll do it.

9.

Take it Easy
Do what is sustainable and not what is stressful. Do only what your body can handle consistently for 30 days. Only you know what that is to avoid burning out in the first week.

10. Intention and Dua

No action is complete without strong intention to fulfill it. And no goal is achieved without the help of Allh. Make sincere du for His help in making you the best version you can be this Raman.

Raman is the month of Qurn. A lot of us have the goal to finish the Qurn in one month at a pace of a Juz a day. Thats great. But that also means for many of us, were speed reading without letting the words enter our hearts.

Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon [their] hearts? [Srat Muhammad: 24]

The Prophets character (allallhu alayhi wa sallam) was described as the Qurn walking on Earth. He was the manifestation of Qurn because he ACTED upon the Qurn. Join
