1. Purpose or goal of this event: The purpose of this event was to bring awareness to patients regarding their diabetes and how it is a global issue. In addition, diabetes screening and counseling were given to patients. 2. Who was involved with this event? (Include all that apply) IPSF liaison, CrossOver Clinic 3. Was the APhA-ASP/IPSF Event Chairperson your IPSF Chapter Liaison? (yes/no) Yes 4. Procedure of this event (include planning and implementation timeline, if you are repeating and/or expanding upon a previous activity, advertisement, budget, and helpful materials or resources used). Please give as much detail as possible. The event took place at the CrossOver clinic. Flyers regarding World Diabetes Day were created and sugar free mints were taped to the flyer so that they could be distributed to diabetic patients at the clinic. There was no advertisement for this event since it only involved volunteering at a free clinic. Volunteers checked the A1C of the patients. Diabetic patients received the flyer and were told about World Diabetes Day. Patients who did not have diabetes were also told about World Diabetes Day and given the flyer in case they wanted the free mints. 5. Outcome of this event (including # of people affected, # of students participating). 50 people were affected, 2 students participated 6. What problems or obstacles did you encounter? How did you overcome these problems? No problems 7. What ideas or procedures worked well? What feedback did you receive from participants? The patients at the free clinic really enjoyed how the flyer had sugar free mints attached to them. The patients who come to the clinic are economically disadvantaged. Therefore, providing free mints is something they greatly appreciated. 8. Would you want to organize the event again? How could you improve?
Updated September 2013

Yes, I would want to organize this again. The patients loved the sugar free mints. I think it could be improved by trying to improve the lives of diabetic patients more.
