Expert Mode instructions

3.1 Starting the Locomotive 1. Ensure the Engine Start is depressed 2. Move the Reverser to Forward 3. Release the train brakes and locomotive brakes if applied 4. Move the throttle to notch 1 or 2. Do not apply full throttle from a standing start as this can cause wheel slip or overload the engine or traction motors. 5. Once moving, you can apply more/less throttle as required.

3.2 Stopping the Locomotive Depending on the load being hauled or if the locomotive is running as a Light Engine always begin braking with plenty of distance to spare. Train brakes should be used when hauling stock as this applies brakes along all vehicles in the train. The locomotive brake should only be used when running as a Light Engine. Avoid applying full emergency brakes unless required. Be aware of coupling slack between vehicles when accelerating or braking. Sudden jolts can break couplings or cause your train to overshoot after coming to a halt.
