Spectra Energy is committed to building and operating safe pipelines through development and application of technically superior, effective practices. We are dedicated to the improvement of these practices by: Improving our safety performance, Increasing the service reliability to our customers, and Becoming the service provider of choice by reducing overall costs. High standards of safety and environmental performance underpin a culture of continual improvement which is reflected in our safety vision (pdf, 570 KB) and EHS Policy (pdf, 183 KB). Our employees and contractors (pdf, 75 KB) are committed to continuous safety improvement, resulting in a zero injury and zero work-related illness culture. We work closely with local, state and federal agencies in the U.S. and Canada to ensure our pipelines meet or exceed regulatory requirements for safety. We also developed relationships and cooperation with local and regional emergency response officials, dating back to the 1940's in many locations. Company employees meet or call upon these officials at least once a year to discuss pipeline safety and emergency preparedness issues.
