British Petroleum, is a British multinational oil and gas company headquartered in London, England, United Kingdom. It is the fifth-largest energy company by market capitalization. The fifth-largest company in the world measured by 2012 revenues, and the sixth-largest oil and gas company measured by 2012 production. It is one of the six oil and gas supermajors. BP is vertically integrated and operates in all areas of the oil and gas industry, including exploration and production, refining, marketing, petrochemicals, powergeneration and trading. It also has renewable energy activities in biofuels and wind power. Financial position of British Petroleum: In 2012, the revenue is US $388.285 billion and operating income is US $19.733 billion. The profit is US $11.816 billion. It has 85700 employees. BP is trading in LSE, NYSE, FWB. It is a worldwide company.. It provides employment for 380,000 people. It has invested 150 billion over the last 25 years. It has paid 150 billion in taxes since the 1970s. It adds 4 billion a year to balance of payments. Oil accounts for a large percentage of the worlds energy consumption, ranging from as low of 32% for Europe and Asia, up to a high of 53% for the Middle East. Other geographic regions consumption patterns are as follows: South and Central America 44%, Africa 41%, and North America 40%.
