Idlewild Community Association (ICA) Rules for Pool Safety and Enjoyment

It is the responsibility of each member to assist in the enforcement of the following rules. Violations can result in revocation of pool privileges. Generally, first offenses will result in one-day suspensions at the discretion of the Lifeguards; while repeated or major offenses will result in the loss of all privileges at the discretion of the oard.
General Rules
1. Use of the pool is restricted to member families and their guests. Guests must register wit a lifeguard u!on arri"al. (See attached Guest Policy). AII persons using I A! property do so at their o"n ris# and share responsibility for o$ersight and safety. %. &he grounds and pool are to be used only "hen a 'ifeguard is present. (. &he 'ifeguard(s) on duty is in charge of all persons regardless of age. )embers should not countermand a directi$e from the lifeguard. Issues or disagreements "ith a 'ifeguard*s directi$e should be ta#en up "ith a board member. +. Any in1ury must be reported to a 'ifeguard/ "ho "ill dispense first aid and determine if further medical aid is necessary. 2. )embers* children 1+ and younger not allo"ed on pool property unless3 An adult is present and responsible for them/ OR &hey are at least 1% years old/ ha$e passed the S"imming &est (see follo"ing page)/ AND &hey ha$e submitted the I A! Parental Permission 4orm! to the 'ifeguard AND &hey cooperate "ith 'ifeguards and adults and e5hibit appropriate conduct and 1udgment. 6. 7abysitters must be at least 1, years old and competent to "atch the number of children for "hich they are responsible. 8. )embers may/ at their o"n ris#/ lea$e beach chairs o$ernight at the pool but only in the designated area behind the long bench by the side fence. 19. Inflatable balls/ rafts and inner tubes are allo"ed at the 'ifeguard*s discretion. &he 'ifeguards ha$e absolute authority to prohibit the use of such items as they may deem necessary for safety. 6.4risbees are not allo"ed in the "ater. 8. -on potty trained! children must "ear diapers "ith elastic legs and "aist AND a s"imsuit. 19.=iapers must be bagged and placed in the appropriate trash receptacle. 11..ther rules as deemed necessary for safety may be implemented by the 'ifeguards.

Swimming (e"els
-on<S"immers -on<s"immers 1+ and under must be accompanied to the pool by an adult. -on< s"immers are restricted to shallo" "ater out to the 1 st rope. >hen accompanied in t e water& one3to3one by an adult swimmer (1, or older) a non<s"immer may go into the middle and deep sections. S"immers All children (including guests) up to the age of 1+ must pass a s"imming test each summer to be allo"ed into the middle and deep<"ater areas. A 'ife Guard "ill administer tests. .nly 'ife Guards "ill determine s"imming le$els.

Swimming +ests 3 &he tests listed belo" must be ta#en each year until the child is

Arms must #e out of t e water and rotary #reat ing must #e demonstrated. &he child can return to the deep "ater using any s"imming stro#e desired. Immediately after s"imming the t"o lengths of the pool/ "ithout lea$ing the "ater and "ithout touching the "all/ tread "ater for three (4) minutes. 2ee!3section +est5 + e c ild cannot sto! and rest at any !oint during t e test &he test for the deep section is the same as the test for the )iddle<section e5cept that the child must tread "ater for four (6) minutes "ithout touching the "all.

Parties
Parties for children may be scheduled at the 'ifeguard*s discretion so as not to ad$ersely affect safety or members* use and en1oyment. Parties for up to 78 c ildren/ "ith a

A "ritten re@uest on Special A$ent ;e@uest 4orm! a$ailable from the 'ifeguard must be submitted at least 19 days in ad$ance. 4ees for the use of the I A! are listed on the form. &he 'ifeguard "ill determine if the siBe or time of the function re@uires additional 'ifeguard co$erage. If additional co$erage is re@uired/ the cost "ill be paid directly to the 'ifeguard by the host.
